Vince Young Signs

Hey that school benefited big time from his stay there. No he didn't split the atom or find a cure for some disease but he made the school millions. If they found a way to scratch his back in return that's ok. Now we'll see if he can find a way to scratch by on a six figure salary.

Might as well give him a welfare check. 100k salary for a guy who does good to spell his own name. He is getting paid with our tax dollars to do what? Raise money for tu? Maybe he can get these guys together and go have a money raising sausage fest

The question is will Aggy University do the same for Johnny 8Ball after he too busts out of the NFL.

Vince Young Registered at NFL Veteran Combine; LINK

Vince Young is reportedly set to make another effort to crack an NFL roster. The former Tennessee Titans and Philadelphia Eagles quarterback is registered to take part in the league's new veteran combine next month.

Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network noted his expected participation:

One interesting player taking part in the veteran combine on March 22 in AZ? Vince Young. He’s registered. One more shot.
- Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) February 27, 2015

Young last took a regular-season snap with the Eagles during the 2011 season. He's latched on with the Buffalo Bills, Green Bay Packers and Cleveland Browns over the past three years. He wasn't able to make the final roster in any of those attempts.

Last June, after being released by the Browns, he told Brent Carney of KXAN in Austin he considered himself retired. He felt at the time only a ideal situation would be enough to get him back.

"It's definitely official I think in my book," Young said. "Unless we get a great opportunity, something guaranteed…other than that I've started moving forward in some things. I love the NFL, will love the game always but I'm kind of moving forward and moving on right now."

Did the UT job dry up already?

Just saw this old post after the thread got bumped, but still had to correct the misperception.

The UT football program is self sufficient. It generates so much revenue that no taxpayer money is involved. That's why the head coach of UT football is the highest paid state employee to no one's objection.

So the 100k a year for Vince to walk around and high five students is more of a trust fund check than welfare.

Indeed UT is very well funded and has trusts set up from many past Alumni. The land that has oil producing wells alone is massive not to mention people like Red McCombs. I think they did the same thing for Earl Campbell. First time he gets arrested for anything it will be over.

We may make jokes about VY's intellect but he seems to at least have the "don't get arrested" part down of being famous.

Man, at this point, I just feel sorry for Vince Young.
Yep. I still remember the 60 Minutes interview with him during his sophomore season with the Titans. It ended with him declaring, "Ain't nobody can tell me nothin'!" I knew right then that his career would be limited. So while I feel sorry for him a bit, he has to know by now that this is at least partly his fault.

Yep. My 'feel sorry for him' attitude is more "go away" than actually having any sort of empathy for the guy.

He's baaaack...or at least he hopes to be back... :cricket:

Vince Young signs with agent Leigh Steinberg, wants to play

Vince Young still isn't quite ready to call it a career.

The two-time Pro Bowl quarterback has hired agent Leigh Steinberg, who welcomed his new client on Twitter on Wednesday and said Young "has dream of playing more football, being role model."

Young, who turns 34 in May, hasn't been on an NFL roster since the 2014 offseason, when he was with Cleveland for two weeks before being released. He hasn't played in a regular-season NFL game since 2011, when he was with Philadelphia.

I can't believe he's 34. I remember seeing this guy tear it up at Madison. Damn time fly's by too fast.

I seriously hope he's not serious about attempting a comeback in the NFL
when it's clear, he's not made for the NFL, The CFL or Arena? yes, but he's
just not NFL material
