Vince on Jay Leno

Thanks for the post - this is cool!

Jay is getting on him about turning pro. Did you hear that... Vince just said that Houston having the first pick would weigh heavily on his decision... And then the other guest (Will Ferrell (sp?)) said "but Houston already has a QB, don't they..." and Vince was silent!! Wow. Thanks for posting that just in time!

Leno mentioned that Houston has the first pick. Vince said that would play a big part in his decision process.

Then Will Farrell says, "Houston already has a quarterback....well they do don't they? Nevermind." lol

So do 31 other teams, Will. Some even have 3 or 4.

That was one weird moment.

That was a weird coincidence. Glad we remembered the quote the same way...

Yeah, I think he's coming out too... He also said that he "had to look out for his family"... Isn't that a standard line before an athelete comes out...

outside the lines is about to start on espn and it is going to talk about vince/reggie mania in houston. 1140 on espn.

And he's not going to get any resistance from Mack Brown, so it's going to be easier to go.

Will Ferrel was awkward PERIOD. Hes had better interviews, seems like the only thing vince is waiting for is to make sure hes a top 5 pick. Seems like a perfect match.:redtowel:

Leno also asked Vince "if it would be nice to win a heisman trophy?" and he paused before throwing out the pc answer like it was an afterthought.

Looks good for the Texans.
I think the 4 year out of town Carr rental is over

We could infer alot from his inuindo but any player would want to play in his home town. The opportunity to bring Vince to Houston is great I'm just worried Casserly will let him go like they did Derrick Johnson last year. That would be a scenario I wouldn't want to comtemplate.

Later....................

Unfortunately, we're too stupid to take him.

Vince is the hottest thing since sliced bread right now, and everyone thinks Houston should take him. The fact that he could actually make a difference is the exact reason why we won't draft him.

We are doomed to fail. Did the Oilers suck this bad? Is it the Houston curse...a la "give us a team so we can suck the life out of it??"

Calgon take me away!

actually only a select few people from (cough cough) espn have houston picking V. Young. Just wait a few months until things calm down, and texas will realize they need an o line before they can harbor any talent at qb or rb... Young is going to NO or Ten...

Just kinda blathering outloud:

As it is, and with the record we have, the Texans games have only been showing in the Houston area--not Austin, not San Antonio.

We are trying to grow our fan base but it is hard with the bandwagon tendencies of Cryboy fans and not getting TV time.

VY to New Orleans would grow N.O.'s fan base. Maybe get them moved to San Antonio or Los Angeles if N.O's really can't handle having the NFL back in town long term.

VY to Tennessee would just be pukey.

Tennessee in the 3rd spot is an ungood thing because what we do or don't do, will completely affect the value of their pick and the quality of player(s) that they get.

If any of you play Scrabble, it reminds me of when it is your turn and there is an open triple word score square open. And maybe you don't have the best word for that spot but you put a word there anyway to make sure that the other player doesn't put a spectacular word there and get a ton of points. It is a typical defensive play.

We take VY, maybe they get the Bush pick (to keep or trade)
after N.O.'s takes Leinart

It is a nice situation to be in, to have that choice, but no matter what the Texans do, it is likely to make a bunch of people mad because they didn't do something else.

As an aside, the problem with us getting lots of picks from a trade down is that we already have a really young team and it is the learning on the job that is showing up as a "lack of execution." If we get rid of that pick, we best get some proven experienced great starters to help out, IMO.

You and I see completely eye to eye. Even down to the wanting veterans for the pick if we trade down. To be honest I want Young because i don't want Tenn to get him.
