The only national type site that seemed to have thought about what we might need, seems to be "Draft Daddy" as they picked O-line, which we all know we need. Probably not the right guys for the scheme, but at least they knew that we needed to draft some O-line help.

scoutsnotebook def. has the best draft for us so far....who are these jokers-max jg, fasano etc- unless these are dated(pre-putzier,weaver,kalu)....these so called experts arent very good..they just see a name and a need and take it

Not real fond of Moss at #33, he has the athletic measurements to be great, but he's small, has not been used overly much to this point, and I'd prefer to get a bigger WR later in the draft. I don't like taking Ray Edwards that high, we can easily get him at #97. Derek Hagan I'm also not real fond of, at #66 I guess he has decent value but I don't see us using two 1st day picks on WRs, and Hagan has very inconsistent hands ala Corey Bradford. I grade this draft a C.

I don't think Kiwanuka will fall that far. He'd be a pretty good value but with all the DEs we've suddenly loaded up on I'm not sure how great of a pick he'd be for us, assuming he even lasts that long. Fasano I don't really like since we just signed Putzier, I'd generally only look for a TE a round later than what they're projected to go (i.e. Fasano, Klopfenstein and that group I'd look at in the 4th or later) and Claude Wroten is a really bad pick for us. He's not an overly good player, he has some character problems, and we are already overloaded at DT. I give this a D+ grade.

See previous comment on Moss. Wilkinson is an ok pick, I'd prefer to get CB and FS before a MLB but ok. Minter isn't that high on my list of CBs, this is about where he will probably go but I think there will be other CBs available that would be a better pick. I grade this a B since it at least tries to address our main needs.

Jean-Gilles is a horrible fit for this team. In terms of talent he's probably the #1 guy in this draft, but at 355 lbs. he doesn't even come close to fitting our zone blocking scheme. Regardless of where he goes he needs to lose 20-30 lbs. he would still be in the 325-330 lb. range and would be huge and that would go a long way to increasing his quickness. Trueblood is another bad match, he also seems quite stiff and slow (reminds me a lot of Todd Wade) and I don't think he fits our blocking system either. Cedric Griffin would also be a decent value here, but like with Minter I think there will be a couple CBs here that I'd prefer to have (and I'd prefer to get CB at #33 anyways), but without looking up each of these individual mocks I don't know what CBs are there on their boards. I give this a C- grade for picking poor fits on our OLine, but at least they were looking in that direction.

Johnathan Joseph is a great pick, I really hope he's available at #33 if Eric Winston is not, he is one of my top 2-3 CBs in this draft and the top one that I think has a chance of being there. Anthony Smith and Rob Sims I think are big-time reaches in the top of the 3rd round, both seem like decent players but I think we can get better value. I grade this draft a B- because of those two questionable picks, would have been a lot lower without Joseph in there.

I think Demetrius Williams is a big-time reach at #33. At #65 I'd be ok with him, but not that high. Tim Dobbins and Derrick Martin are also big-time reaches. I grade this draft a D, they attempt to address our needs but badly reach on all three of those picks.

No one really knows where these guys are rated by the teams. If you look at the different top 100 boards around they have players 20-40 spots away from each other.

I read through the profiles of the 2nd-3rd round guys and liked these picks. There are several players in that range with character issues or past run-ins with the law, which I automatically dumped. I also was pessimistic that the players at the positions we wanted wouldn't automatically drop out of the previous round. So there are some reaches, but I wouldn't call them big-time. Here is my more optimistic (or wishful thinking) mock:

From what Matt_Alkire from Scoutsnotebook.com posted on another thread:

"One thing to keep in mind about Kubiak and his OLine scheme.... Tom Nalen was a 7th rounder. Ben Hamilton was a 4th rounder. Matt Lepsis went completely undrafted. Denver's best 3 Offensive Linemen all taken on the second day or not at all. The only reason I bring it up is that that system is very odd. There can be 7th rounders that are more valuable to Kubiak then a 2nd rounder would be to Andy Reid or Bill Cowher. Just a different beast. I'm sure alot of you guys know that, but I felt it necessary to say."

But I'd agree that if we get Moulds we look at the best O-lineman available with one of our 3rd rounders.

This draft I'd be much much happier with.

We still need to look at WR in the draft, Moulds will be turning 33 during this season so we need to look for another long-term WR for us, it usually takes WRs 1-3 years to adjust to the league, and if we get Moulds we have that 2-3 year cushion where a rookie can learn the game, and we can hope Mathis improves and becomes a legit WR too.

Fred Matua (OG, USC) would also be a guy worth considering for selection with one of the 3rd round picks. Seems like he would fit in a zone blocking system.

Allen seems more like a FS than a CB from what I've seen, and I'm not especially high on Pat Watkins. He had a pretty nice Combine workout and definitely drew some attention from it, but I don't think he's proven enough to go in the 3rd round, maybe in the 4th or 5th if we haven't gotten a S by then and depending on who's available.
