Futures: USC DT/DE Leonard Williams
Last year, I wrote that Pitt defensive tackle Aaron Donald was on my short list of the safest early-round picks in the 2014 class. I also noted that he was one of the two prospects most likely to develop into a Pro Bowl player.

USC junior Leonard Williams might be better than Donald. At least I think he is, and so does my friend Ryan Riddle.

We watched the USC lineman play both tackle and end against Cal, and he dominated. The 45-minute episode of the RSP Film Room features four quarters of Williams' ferocity, versatility, and savvy.

Riddle and I were so enamored with Williams' game we watched another cutup -- the bowl game against Nebraska -- after the show. We saw an equally impressive performance, and it's this game I'm profiling this week at Futures.

Regardless of position, it's uncommon to see tape where there's something impressive to watch with even half of a player's total reps. Rarer still is when a...

I was down on him after watching a couple of his games. I thought he was over rated and I felt his negatives were.

He can disappear for long stretches of games.

90% of the snaps he is the last one on the line to react to the snap.

To many times he stands straight up and just hand fights with opposing OL.

But the more I watch him several things are evident. Poor coaching and scheming for such a good talent. On those 10% where he comes off the ball fast and is clearly intent of penetrating the OL and being disrupting, he is Watt like. Why you wouldn't scheme the defense around a talent like that is beyond me. His only responsibility every play should be to get into the backfield and create havoc. He should of been moved all over the DL to take advantage of his talent. Basically he should of been used exactly like RAC uses Watt.

He is a rare talent and I really hope he goes anywhere but the AFC south division. Unless he comes here of course. Hopefully the JAGS and TITANS both go QB. I would rather face Mariota and especially Winston twice a year than this beast. Of course he may never reach his potential if he goes somewhere where they miss use him like USC did.

Watched a little of him, not impressed so far. Need to see more. Currently wouldn't touch him in the first. Maybe not even through the first four rounds. Maybe not at all.

Looks soft at times. Comes out too high. Doesn't use hands well. Don't see anything impressive really besides he's big and kind of mobile.

I didn't like hageman much at all last draft but hageman looks better than this guy to me.

That's just initial impressions without delving in more.

The Jags aren't going QB. The question is will the Titans go QB. I think they will or trade the pick to a team that will (Jets?). Jacksonville is the logical destination for Williams.

yeh I don't know what i was thinking.

Like I said I was cold on him at first. Thought the same thing. Too much just standing straight up and mirroring going on. If you watch enough yo can see that when he has a green light to go after the QB he looks unstoppable. I think he wasn't used correctly. If you have a guy that can be that disruptive then why would you have him reading and reacting? why wouldn't you be coaching him to be better off the snap?

Of course maybe they did try and he just didn't get it. In that case, yeh he is not a top tier guy. I just can't believe that after seeing some of the explosive plays he makes. I can't wait to see what he does at the combine. Of course now that I said that he will skip it.

Good coaches will still put him thru the drills. If he can consistently get off the ball and attack he'll be a top pick

First thing I noticed about him is how high he comes off the ball, incredibly high. It's amazing that he was able to make plays. That technique won't fly in NFL.

Like I said, it appears he wasn't coached up very well or used to the best of his abilities. When he does things right he looks unstoppable.

This LINK is what I'm talking about. When he is aggressive he looks great. This is why I can't help but believe he wasn't used to the best of his ability;

Why does it play that awful song? I can't even see the play.

I hate YouTube video highlights because 99.9% of the time te music SUCKS. I ALWAYS watch them with the volume down. I don't know why it won't play for you. It's not just one play its a 5 min highlight of his best plays.
