Unofficial 2015 First RD Selection Order

At 12, who might be available at QB?

Pending Mallett being/not being the answer, of course.

Mariota will be long gone by then. If we want him, we'll have to trade the farm to get him. Outside of him and Winston I am completely ignorant of the QB position as I have done little film study this being a busy semester for me. I have seen several Oregon games however and Mariota is the best QB this draft.

I predict that Winston will fall hard this draft, possibly out of the first round due to character issues. I just have a feeling he'll say something stupid in interviews during the combine or have another incident. Don't want him anyway.

I thought Brett Hundley was raw but promising last season. I will watch his tape and assess him again. If he hasn't improved, he's a second round pick at best.

I need to watch tape on all the other prospects.

I have zero confidence that we have the intellectual horsepower needed, in the GM's office, to make a difference in the upcoming draft.

Cook is the only guy I can think of and I think he's a bit of a reach there. Not a low upside reach like Ponder or Manuel, but still a reach (a lot like Tannehill was at #8). Mariota will be long gone and Winston doesn't matter. I have a feeling a QB needy team snatches him up early but even if they don't we won't be drafting him.

From the OP, I noticebwe've officially had the softest schedule to date. With 3 games left against jax and ten, it'll probably finish that way.

I knew it had been soft, but was surprised it's the absolute weakest.

As of November 25th, the Houston Texans have the 12th pick in the first rd of the 2015 NFL Draft.....Let the countdown begin.

This week, the BAD news is the Jags now have the 1st pick and rights to Mariota. Let the bids begin at a minimum of 3 first rd draft picks, let the bedding begin.

No man's land for drafting a QB. Too low to get the top guys. Too high to reach for the next tier.

Cutler was drafted with the 11th pick in the draft, so was Roethlisberger. Flacco was drafted with the 18th pick in the draft, Rogers, the 24th, & Bridgewater the 32nd.

David Carr, Joey Harrington, Byron Leftwich, Vince Young, Matt Lienart, Jamarcus Russell, Matt Ryan, Matthew Stafford, Mark Sanchez, Sam Bradford, Jake Locker, Blaine Gabbert, & Ryan Tannehill all drafted with a top 10 pick.

Why don't you just print the entire 1st round list of QBs over the past dozen years? It would make as much sense. And are you suggesting that Stafford and Ryan shouldn't have been top 10 picks? BTW, Tannehill is also beginning to play up to his draft position.

Had Roethlisberger and Flacco gone to major football factories, their draft position would have been enhanced. Aaron Rodgers was considered by the Niners for the 1st overall pick. And he slid to #24. I've never heard a good explanation as to why. Jason Campbell (selected with the next pick), is more typical of the QB selected there.

The 2014 draft is too early to judge. And there wasn't a top prospect in 2013. But over the previous 5 drafts, you can make the strong case that the best QB was the one drafted first. To expect the 2015 draft to be different isn't logical.

The point is just because you're not picking in the top ten doesn't mean a "top" QB won't be available. It depends on how many teams are looking for a QB & how many are available... among other things. & though Stafford & Tannehill were top 10 picks, they are proof that a top 10 QB doesn't guarantee a winning record, even two-three years removed.

So there will be good QB prospects available outside the top 10 picks?

I think the past 5 drafts muddles that statement moreso than the previous drafts.... 2014, like you said is too early to tell. But I'm on record saying Aj McCarron was the best QB in the draft & he was the 9th QB taken. Still in their short time, Zach Mettenberger appears to have been the most ready, possibly the best QB of that draft so far.

2013, Ryan Nassib may have been the best QB drafted..... still, too early to tell.

2012, I think it's hands down Russell Wilson, but my irrational hate for the Indianapolis Colts may have adversely colored that opinion.

2011, Andy Dalton was the 5th QB taken. Sure Cam Newton is more exciting to watch, & among my favorite players in the league, but I believe the general consensus is that Dalton is a better QB.

2010, Sam Bradford is most definitely the best QB in that draft & he was in fact the first QB taken.

2009, Yeah, Matt Stafford...... easy.

We're living in a time where Cam Newton's, RGIII's, & Colin Kaepernicks are being drafted way before they should. I doubt the best QB in the 2015 draft will be the first taken.
