University Of Houston

Leone missing two field goals and the Ambles not catching the two-point conversion were pretty tough to swallow. I'm not even sure why Leone is kicking field goals when they recruited one of the best Kickers in the state.

Leone is a great punter but a lousy field goal kicker.

Both teams have crappy defenses.

We look so good at times.... and so bad at times! On the drive of Leone's last FG attempt, we had a HUGE pass interference missed in the end zone on 2nd down, that would have given us 1st and goal at the 1...... instead there was a no call, third down we take a huge sack, and then miss a FG. We were SO CLOSE!!!!!!!!! SO frustrating! :vincepalm:

Such a frustrating game. We needed at least a FG on that drive when we had the long 76 yard pass that got us 1st and Goal at the 3.

Yeah, that one chapped me pretty good. The replay showed the referee obsessing with the feet to see if they would be in bounds after the catch. So much so he never watched the play itself. Textbook pass interference missed.

I don't watch college football so forgive me if this doesn't sound intelligent, but can you score 46 on someone & say they have a pretty good defense at the same time?

In today's era of no huddle offenses you might think its crazy but both teams actually played some defense yesterday. The way UH plays offense their defense is going to be on the field a lot so they are going to give up some yards and that's just the way it is. The thing defensively they can do is cause some turnovers and they have done that so far this year. UH was leading the nation in turnover ratio coming into this game.

BYU's defense was what the fans were basing their predictions of a huge win on so take that for what it's worth. This is the first Cougar loss this season, but we are lucky it's an OOC game. We hung tough with a team that completely stomped UT, so overall I think I have a positive feeling about this game. As weird as the QB situation has been this year, the Cougs have been doing pretty decently.

That was my condolence too. I loved it.

Coogs roll against Rutgers big time 49-14.

O'Korn is looking better and better. Mix in some Greg Ward now and again and totally confuse the opposing defense.

Yep coogs keep this up and they will make some BCS noise IMO. Remaining schedule looks pretty tough, win out and they will get a BCS bowl for sure.

What a great game by the Coogs.

They certainly announced their arrival to the conference in style.
Very nice!

Good grief. I just noticed on the computer overlay showing the down and yardage for Houston. It seems ESPN hasn't updated the Cougar's logo since the SWC days. :foottap:

Haha yeah, and i liked the uniforms, i thought they looked pretty bad ass. Atleast we got the win. It wasnt pretty thats for sure.

7-1 and looking good.

UH needs bigger D-linemen though to improve however.

Next two games are Giagantic.

Its always been hard to recruit stud lineman to UH which is why they should always be in a 3-4 defense. It was retarded for Levine to try and switch to a 4-3 last year when they had finally recruited the personnel to run a 3-4 the last 2 years Sumlin was here.

This. Not my cup of tea. Good for a one-off I guess but hopefully the next time they do this they can figure out something a little more original than they did for this one.

I don't understand the push towards "modern-looking" uniforms. I am a BIG fan of old school unis and think they look much better than all the Pro Combat crap (thanks Phil Knight)! Some teams look more like Arena League teams than college football ones.

I agree with you, all these uniform changes gets really old.

Yes, Thank you!

As long as the kids like them then that is fine with me.

Boy, talk about nine lives for the Cougars. Houston already has two turnovers deep in their own red zone to keep it scoreless.

Fun to watch those turnovers, but you get the feeling early the Houston defense might not to come up with a good adjustment to UCF's offense.

Bad facemask call a few minutes ago on Houston. I didn't see a hand on the facemask and the ref who threw the flag certainly had no angle to see it.

Tough football game. Kudos to the Cougar D so far.

What a BS targetting flag

Worst call I've seen in a long time. Complete bs. What made it even worse was the fact that it was reviewed and some flag football proponent in the booth called for ejection.

I guess hitting a player out of bounds 5 seconds after the end of the play is cool, though (as seen earlier in the game by UCF).

Good God, what a horrible call.

Flag should be on the QB for hanging his receiver out to dry.

I hope the guy is ok. I know we all hate to see a player get hurt like that and all I can say is my best hopes and wishes go out to him.

I still say it was a bad call. I don't know how, in the moment of the play, he could have reacted much differently.

If Ronnie Lott played in these conditions he would never have smelled Canton, Ohio.

I logged on here just to comment on this.. flipped over from the Texas game (oh the horror)..

Umm.. WhyTF was that player ejected? That was a CLEAN HIT! What the hell is this game turning into. He didn't target OR hit him in the head.. he hit him square in the damn chest which is what you're TAUGHT to do. Just because a player goes down a player has to be ejected? complete B.S. This is football, newsflash.. people are going to get hurt. I'm disgusted right now and I don't want to hear anybody complain the next time a defender talks about having to blow out a players knees anymore, because that's obviously what these football leagues want to exactly happen.

P.S.

The only people who deserve to be ejected is the official who made that call and the officials who upheld the ejection... and the drunk moron fan who threw his cup of beer at a freaking kid.

You know it's a crappy call when the damn announcers have to jump through hoops trying to justify it.

There was just a similar hit in the Texas/WVU game.. M. Davis was nailed along the sideline, but since he held onto the ball and got up, not even a flag thrown.
