Arizona must have ponied up quite a bit of money (compared to what other URFA's will get) to get Shazor.

According to Capers, we have signed 11 guys, but the organization probably won't announce them for a day or two...

How come neither browner nor shazor were drafted and has anyone heard if theyve been picked up by anyone now? Or if Texans are trying to sign either or both? Who have the Texans signed that went undrafted?

Brimmer has a legit shot at making the Seahawks. He may be on the PS this upcoming season, but he'll make an NFL roster at some point I think.

It's gotten to the point to where it's not even going to be fair to play them, it's going to be like playing a junior high team or something :) .

oh how the mighty have fallen...now if only the colts could start to fall...having to sign 36 udfa's to fill your roster is sad...should be interesting to see how long it will take them to rebuild

The tacks will be in good shape cap wise in '06 or maybe '07, the thing that is killing them is the dead money they have to pay this year. The clots however are headed in that direction, with jughead's huge contract, Harrison's big contract, and waiting to see what happens with Edgerrin James, they could be in some serious cap hell as well in a few seasons...

just a thought but does anyone know if Butler the FS from georgia tech has been picked up yet...maybe he is one of the 11 we have supposedly signed...why are we the only team that waits to announce our signings...every other team apparently doesn't wait...is there something i'm missing?

10:54 update

Clement will actually know by tommorow morning what team he will be playing for. Due to agent hiring/firing, he will not be able to sign a contract until Saturday the 30th anyway.

It seems as if we are out of the running though for an extremely talented player.

i look forward to seeing hodgden in training camp...i honestly think he can be one of those old fashion type centers that play with a real mean streak...i actually did get a chance to see the ASU vs USC game from a year ago and he did hold his own against patterson...especially in pass protection...i'm hopefull that he will atleast upseat one of the back up players at either the guard or center position...i definetly will not be cryin if he upseats washington as the back up center

How ofter do UFA really contribute to a team? I mean missing out one or another UFA isn't that big of a deal. Starling is theonly I can think of that evenmade a roster in our history; and he's probably going to have to battle pretty hard to keep his spot.

Hoth Boy, in some sense, most UFA's do not contribute.

The likelihood of a position contributing is normally along the offensive line. Not too many centers and guards get drafted high just b/c its not a real sexy pick. Thats why most guys that have 2nd-3rd round grades slip to 6-7-undrafted. Like Wilkerson and Respert.

Green Bay used to be a master at taking late round/UFA OLine and making them a dangerous unit.

It really depends on the team. Buffalo and Indy are usually end up with a few UFA making their rosters each year. Their GMs are great at finding gems in the UFA pool.

Do you mean UFAs signed after the draft or any UFA? In the latter category are players like Derick Armstrong, Garrick Jones, and Charlie Clemmons in Houston, and Flutie, Garcia, Vanderjagt, Joe Horn, Shelton Quarles, etc. around the league. In the former category around the league are players like Kerry Carter, Israel Idonije, and Brett Romberg, to name a few I’m familiar with, all of whom are considered to be backups with potential.

and kffl announced the mike munoz might be reconsidering retirement since a few teams have called about him

draftdaddy.com says we have signed these three corners
jerron wishom
cedric williams
chris mckenzie

Is that it? I am hearing some teams sign like 5 and then Tenneessee signing like what was it 35 UDFA some number like that

supposedly we've signed 11 but for some reason casserly and capers do not want to release the names of the players...i think they aren't releasing the names because they never signed 11 guys but were looking at 11 guys...i bet we only end up with 6 or 7

Players get drafted high for skills that cannot be taught. I did not say they could be improved.
QB: Decision-making, leadership, and size
RB: Speed, vision, and size
WR: Speed, hands, and size

These are just some examples. The main reason an LT gets picked high is that they have long reach, quick hands and feet, and they can block.

Since so many OL are slow and have size issues they are picked later than a 4.23 WR (JM). It is easier to improve the blocking technique of an UDFA OL than it is to improve the speed and hands of an UDFA WR/TE.

Assuming you mean undrafted free agents, Starling, Troy Evans, Corey Sears, Jerry DeLoach, JJ Moses, Derrick Armstong, Chad Stanley, Shantee Orr, Garrick Jones, and Jason Bell are all undrafted FAs (most originally signed by other teams) but they have spent considerable time on the Texans 53 man roster. Teams fill back up slots and special teams with undrafted free agents. In some cases they could even surprise and become starters eventually. Players like this are an important component of the roster for all teams. You can't have all expensive FA's or draft picks on the roster - there's not enough money to go around.

Wags, can u try to find the Wilkerson to Bengals thing Grid reffered to but provided no link?
I don't have a link but I live in Cincinnati and they did sign him (Wilkerson). He would've been the first Center drafted if it wasn't for the injury to his knee last season. He is recovering better than they expected.
