UAB Football Program to Close?

This article says that UAB might close its football program:

If it does, how does that affect other athletic scholarships? Does the football team bring in the money to support scholarships for other sports? I ask because I know a girl on a volleyball scholarship there.

Done and Done.

Probably the best move for the university as a whole, but really sucks for the young men in the program. Football is expensive, and unless these mid to low tier teams can draw better that cost is based onto the students/those paying tuition; which isn't fair either.

Doubt UAB will be the last.

It's not like it's a storied program. My wife is a grad of UAB. When she went there, she and fellow students traveled to Tuscaloosa for Alabama games. UAB at the time was treated as a satellite campus, similar to how UHD is to UH. There were efforts to try and break out from that status, but they were never well received.
