So I just heard on NFLN, two of their "analyst" (using that word loosely) are predicting that DeMarcus Ware will be the first player in NFL History to record two seasons of 20 sacks. I can't even remember when Ware had 20 sacks, but I can see it happening.

So I was wondering, who else is in the running?

Jj Watt for sure, his 20.5 sack season qualifies him.

Who else?

Whoa...... looking at his stats, Ware came close in 2011 with 19.5 of being the first to have two 20 sack seasons.

The coolest part about it, is that he'd be the only player in history to do it & he still wouldn't be satisfied.

20 - 20 & 20

If they'd go back and review those NFL films from back in the day and count 'em up, I'd bet the Deacon had multiple 20-sack seasons.

I don' think JJ is getting 20 sacks this year. It will be hard to do that with every team we play triple teaming him.

Wikipedia has him unofficially listed as having had 20 and 22 in '63 and '64. He then had 26 and 24 in '67 and '68. He only had 19 and 18 in between. Finished his career with 194.5. However, the citation they list is a dead link. John Turney (PFW) evidently researched it and came up with 173.5 career sacks. I couldn't find a single season reference.

In either case, I feel OK with the notion that Deacon Jones had multiple 20-sack seasons. Start letting JJ Watt head slap people and he might have a 30-sack season.
