what I hate most about the polls is that it isn't if you lose it is WHEN you lose

Absolutely correct.

If UT had lost to OU instead of Tech & OU had lost to Tech instead of UT no doubt Texas would be ranked higher because they lost first.

So OU didn't let their opportunity slip when UT beat them on a neutral field? When was the last time the loser of the OU-UT game went to the national championship when both had 1 loss? OU and Tech both will have won on home fields.

You guys are making way too much out of this nuetral field thing. Mainly b/c: #1, it was a rivalry game & in this particular case it was The rivalry game for both teams...i.e. anything can happen & u guys found that out against tech. #2, 1-2 plays go the other way, & OU might win that game by 10. Texas got the breaks & won it, but as i've said...it was far from a dominating performance that clearly marked UT as being superior. I would say the same if the shoe were on the other foot. Furthermore I didn't hear any of this home field advantage talk when UT crushed Mizzou at home. UT just peaked too quickly.

The truth is every 1 of these front running big 12 teams has taken advantage of the home field; UT did vs. Mizzou & OSU, Tech did vs. UT & OSU & now OU is vs. Tech. We'll see if they look as dominating against a dangerous OSU team on the road.....which is a rivalry game for OU as well.

imo, based on how bad they're gonna beat tech, OU should jump Texas & so should Florida. The reason is b/c both have showed to be more dominant than Texas as of now:

Alabama
Florida
OU
Texas
Utah
USC

true... the non playoff system (I would say is ruining things, but in the age of money and controversy, it improves things for corporate (noth that I agree with it )). It is all about matchups. UT should have taken care of business against TT that is the bottom line

At the time I couldn't believe TT went for a few 4th downs early in the game.. signs of desperation IMO.. but as I told my dad, if they worked it would be considered greatness, but being they didn't ....

The only reason I see anybody talking about the nuetral field is because Tech beat Texas in lubbock. Oklahoma beat Tech in Norman, and Texas beat OU in Dallas, which is a nuetral field. Dallas is about the same distance for both teams. Alabama & Florida are going to play each other the last week of the season. The winner of the big 12 will play the winner of that game. The losers probably will play each other. I would like to see UT beat Alabama for the National Championship, & OU beat Florida in the other bcs bowl.

Can't you say the same thing about OU though? They should have beaten UT? Texas lost on the final play to Tech & beat Oklahoma on a nuetral field. Oklahoma beat Texas Tech in Norman and lost in Dallas against Texas. Who is more deserving of the two? It will be interesting how they rank these two teams.

I guess you failed to pay attention to how LOUD that OU crowd was every time TT had the ball .... That was one hell of a crowd. They were as pumped up as I've ever seen them get for UT or OSU.

Yeah...& ESPN college gameday being in Austin for the UT vs. Mizzou game didn't add anything to the crowd that ultimately showed up for the game that night...especially since it was UT's 1st time playing at home as the #1 ranked team since 1977.......Yeah they were rowdy in norman, but the fans in UT for that mizzou game weren't exactly a non factor either.

It is what it is...but at the end of the day, the teams still have to play.

Mizzou is an afterthought in the Big 12 .... but yeah , UT had an advantage with the crowd just as OU has a huge one last night as did TT in its win over UT ..... the UT&OU game is the only one played on a neutral field , the crowd has a much smaller impact on those games.

Polls are out.....

Coaches Poll:
1. Alabama (56) 1,518
2. Oklahoma (4) 1,412
3. Florida (1) 1,401
4. Texas 1,370
5. USC 1,288

Harris Poll:
1. Alabama (63) 1,622
2. Florida (2) 1,512
3. Oklahoma 1,486
4. Texas 1,482
5. USC 1,352

Thoughts:
How the hell is Utah #7 in the coaches & #8 in the harris?

OU should have enough human points to jump Texas in the BCS. I've seen some of the computers and they have Texas at #1 or #2. It's going to be real close.

I'm betting the BCS comes out:
1. Alabama
2. Oklahoma
3. Texas
4. Florida
5. USC/Utah/Texas Tech

for the past 6-7 games UF has played better than any team i've ever seen, i hope they wind up in the title game, they deserve it. i'm expecting them to completely annihilate Alabama

Rivalry games can be funny. So what happens if Ok State beats OU?

TT will win the Big 12 south and go on to the Big 12 Championship game due to the head to head with Texas. But Texas will likely be #2 if OU falls and play for the BCS Championship even tho they didnt win the Big 12 South Outright.

No way USC catches UT in the BCS poll unless UT loses. And the two teams ahead of UT in the polls other than OU have a head to head meeting to close out the season. OU loses , Texas is in.

not sure, Georgia was ranked higher in the BCS and didn't make it to NC game

It is a shame that I good team is going to be left out but I guess that happens all the time...Goodness it would have been a heck of a playoffs with all the Big 12 teams in it.

It is sad that the system is set up by depending on when you lose during the season affects where you stand as far as the bowl games

True. But they got jumped by a team that had just won the conference championship game.

If Tech lost to Mizzou, UT could only get jumped by an idle team. I don't see that happening.
