Important games going on...

Oregon St losing to Arizona
Potential impact: OSU loss give the Pac 10 to USC

Cincinnati beating Pitt
Potential impact: Winner is in the driver's seat for the Big East auto bid to the BCS

Florida St beating Maryland
Potential impact: FSU win puts them in the ACC championship game

How the ACC has fallen...a few years ago, an unranked team wouldn't get in the championship game....and Florida State wouldn't be unranked.

I can't tell if it's parity or mediocrity.

There are undoubtedly some talented teams in the ACC. They just aren't consistent week to week.

So, maybe a little halftime college football talk? How long do you think Charlie Weiss has at Notre Dame now? I think a huge buyout is coming. The limb I just went out on is huge, I know, but I just wonder your thoughts out there. Also, possible replacements?

EDIT: Just saw the other thread. My bad.

Ok, so basically the new BCS standings will likely look like this:
1. Alabama-bye week

2. Oklahoma- unless Oklahoma chokes the big lead away a convincing win has them vault Texas.

3. Texas- a bye week

4. Florida- they had a convincing win but they beat The Citadel. The Citadel. The Citadel has beaten 3 D2 schools and Princeton.

5. Utah- an undefeated season for Utah gets them into the top 5.

And Texas gets screwed

And Texas gets screwed

Well, I disagree. Texas had an opportunity to get to the BCS Championship game. They let that opportunity slip through their fingers. Likewise, Tech is letting their chance slip by. When you get to a tie break situation that involves a judges decision, anything can happen. You can't really need to do everything in your power to prevent that. We had a chance to prevent that and we didn't take advantage.

The BCS screws us out of a true champion again........Unless Alabama knocks off Florida and wins the whole thing (which isn't going to happen)

So barring a miracle......

Texas beats OU on a neutral field, loses on the road on a hail mary

OU beats Tech at home big and loses on a neutral field to UT

Tech beats UT at home and loses big on the road to OU

All 3 will most likely have 1 loss, who plays in the Big 12 Championship game and who plays for a National Championship?

Tech is done

Agreed. Moreover there is no way to convince the NCAA to give up those dollars for a playoff system, though I think it can be done.

Litteraly......the gift wrapped tipped pass INT that was dropped cost them a chance for a NC

But Texas is still alive.......a miracle could happen and OU could lose in the big 12 championship.

So OU didn't let their opportunity slip when UT beat them on a neutral field? When was the last time the loser of the OU-UT game went to the national championship when both had 1 loss? OU and Tech both will have won on home fields.

Yeah they did. But what I am saying is that all three had a chance to play for the National Championship and let that opportunity slip. The point is any of the three win out, there is no tie, so yes, OU slipped too.

The difference is that one team has to go to the Big XII Championship game. I am a UT fan and I want to see Texas there, but I can understand why people would vote for OU. The point is when you get to a judgment situation people place importance in different areas. The best kind of judgment is no judgment at all. The best way to do it is to win it on the field.

This is why the BCS is crap. I'm still trying to figure out who goes to the Big 12 Championship game......does it go to strength of schedule, points scored, etc or do judges decide?

Meanwhile if OU jumps Texas, Texas is saying we beat them....if Texas jumps to #2, Tech says we beat them, and if Tech stays at #2(which won't happen) OU says we beat them. Where does it end?

The team that is ranked higher in the BCS Poll will go to the Big 12 Championship. Heard it last night on ESPN Radio.

I agree the BCS is crap. But, its what we have right now, so its important to understand how it works. The first tie break is head to head matchups. The important tie breaker(and the one that will play this time) is final BCS ranking. This means after all regular season games have been played, the Big XII south team with the highest BCS ranking goes to the Big XII champ game.

Based on today, I see the human polls moving Oklahoma past UT. The computer polls likley will not. I think that the human polls will proclaim Oklaoma to be #1 and that will be just enough to get them ahead of UT. I predict that UT beats A&M and Oklahoma beats OKlahoma State. The win over A&M will not be enough as the computer polls will actually help Oklahoma in that scenario.

Oklahoma goes to the Natl Championship and UT goes to the Fiesta Bowl.

Yeah, I just read that too. I hate the BCS, but maybe this is what is needed to finally get rid of it for good. Maybe Florida beats Alabama and UT and OU play it out for the national championship? I could live with that......sorry Tech.
