Trindon Holliday

Waterboy
The conservative decision-making that led to this guy being shelved for the year is the type of mentality that is pervasive throughout this team.

Holliday would be light years ahead of Slaton by now had they just not been so damn scared to death of anything that was not conservative to the bone. Any sort of risk at all and they tuck their tail and run the other way. That's why we have a creampuff team with a creampuff coach and a creampuff qb leading the whole brigade.

and creampuff posters who don't even know that players are on IR. This thread gets:kubepalm::kubepalm:

Are you really that obtuse, or are you just trying to be clever?

Wear a hat much?

Was his injury really season-ending, or was it a way to stash him away for next year without losing him to waiver wire/injury settlement or using up a PS spot?

Not saying that he didn't have an injury, moreso saying it might not have been season-ending in reality?

Just saying this because I thought I remembered this being a theory back when it happened.

The Dumbass is strong in this one....

He got injured so this is a dumb thread.

ETA he sucked in pre-season as well.

the conservative decision that i assume the OP is referring to is shelving holliday for a minor ligament tear in his thumb. if i remember correctly (not my strong suit), the injury wasnt severe and would've recovered in just over a month. he would've been back by week 4 or 5 at the latest.

because he struggled in preseason, they most likely decided at that point he probably wasnt good enough to be ready this season and used the injury to put him on IR instead of PUP or the practice squad. this was probably the right call, so i disagree with the OP, but holliday sure couldnt be worse than slaton.

IDK, he did fumble the ball a few times in pre-season.

The guys I really want to see back on the field are Barwin and Tate.

I think you're right. Holliday's chances of making an NFL team were slim at best. His injury was essentially a death sentence. He showed very little in the way of turning into a solid KR. I wonder if he'll be in training camp or if he'll be cut outright next year.

yup, which is why it was the right call (though a conservative one) to put him on IR. slaton didnt help this arguement by putting one on the turf tonight either. what happened to our return game? we used to be good.

i couldnt agree more about barwin and tate, two guys we really need.

I don't care how the thread goes.
This is not a thread going contest....

He was put on IR because they gave up on him and didn't want to cut him. If you can't see through the smoke and mirrors that is the NFL IR then I guess you still believe in Santa Claus too.

Holliday could have played this year had they not been so scared. The coaching staff, the owner, the GM...sooo so scared.
They play scared, they maked scared decisions, they are conservative to a fault.

If you couldn't see that Holliday Pro Bowl type return skills from the few that he did return. You HAVE to do whatever you have to do to make sure he gets back on the field at some point.

He will be a Pro Bowl returner at some point, hopefully it will be here.

Meh. I agree with you, but at the same time I disagree.

I do believe that Holliday will be a pro bowl level returner. However, this was not his year. Thumb injuries can be a pain to recover from, and I do not trust the medical staff to wait until he was fully recovered to let him play.

At least this thread has some humor in it to break up all the doom and gloom elsewhere. Even if the humor is unintentional.

Yes, it is.

Ummm....cut = giving up on a player so which one is it?

Ho Ho Ho!!!!!!! Tis the season *****!

Scared?!?! HAHAHA you would be scared too if you were about to place your season on a kid who COULD NOT CATCH A PUNT.

Because of Trindon Holliday. A 6th round pick. Are. You. ****ing. Serious?
If you couldn't see that Holliday Pro Bowl type return skills from the few that he did return.
You mean the return or two that happened in between a myriad of drops and muffs? Hey-soos, he made Jacoby Jones look like Sticky McFingers.
You HAVE to do whatever you have to do to make sure he gets back on the field at some point.
ha....you mean like stashing him on IR, giving him a year to develop his skills and seeing what he has to offer next year? You ****ing tard.
He will be a Pro Bowl returner at some point, hopefully it will be here.
Look into your crystal ball, does it have you posting anymore ridiculous ****? Because if it does let us know so we can all hit the ignore button. Way to start a thread to get a little dig in a Schaub. I'd like to see how you would fair in a weekly "Can you be just a little better than Peyton Manning at QB because that's the only way you're going to negate the crap-pile of a defense that 'protects' the 24+ points you score EVERY SINGLE WEEK" contest.

pantymama (or whatever the ****) is literally that guy who is your boss at work who tells you that you aren't doing as good of a job as you could be because you have the wrong color stapler. Or because you used black ink on that form you needed to turn into HR instead of blue.

He knows there are problems, but there is no way he could point them out correctly even if he had a GPS and google maps pointing out the obvious.

EDIT: Which probably means he works for the Houston coaching staff in some capacity. :mariopalm:

ssssssssshhhhhhh. Its time to go to bed now.

Bro, why on earth would we take up a roster spot to give to an unproven rookie kick returner that wouldnt even take the field until 6-8 weeks into the season?

He had surgery on his thumb IIRC, and if you know anything about football, surgery anywhere on the hand of a position that ONLY catches balls is not good.

Kinda wierd, I think it has to do something with fumbling or something.

PWNED.

A pro-bowl returner based on what? When the guy wasn't fumbling the ball which was often, he was busy running into the backs of his blockers or running right into defenders. The guy showed absoueletely ZERO potential as a KR in the NFL, and you have him in the pro-bowl?

I'm no Kubiak apoligist, but this has to be the strangest post I have ever seen, completely devoid of logic or fact.

Mrs. Holliday is that you? :kubepalm:

Actually, it's really not such a bad idea. We will most likely not need Slaton as a RB with Foster and Ward and an injured Holliday may be better at KORs than Slaton with a jetpack, some meth, and 14 blockers.

Agreed 100%. Tate's going to provide some much needed running power while Arian catches some breath....and we really needed Barwin to help on pass rush. I swear this team is snakebitten.

So in the preseason, Holliday had....

3 punt returns for total of 1 yard
5 kick returns at an avg of 22.8 yards

Then there's the fumbling too...

What does that even mean? I'm the type of guy that complains about the color stapler you have?
Well you're the guy that goes and buys a hot dog and then puts relish on it and eats it with a knife and fork....
What are we just turning this into a say the most absurd thing you can think of thread?

This board was probably arguing about how bad that Tramon Williams kid sucked at cornerback and how he needed to be cut a few years back. Now he's in Green Bay looking like a Pro Bowler.

Coaching and putting together a team is not always about looking at stat sheets.
Some times you have to actually use some football knowledge to project what a player will do once given the necessary coaching.

No I'm saying you're bitching about **** that has very little bearing on the actual reasons we are winning and losing. Trindon Holliday doesn't need his own thread, he needs to learn to not fumble kickoffs and punt returns while he's on IR.

But the symptom is Holliday.
The disease, which is the problem with the team, is that they are so scared into a turtle shell and conservative to a fault.

It is pervasive throughout the organization. They want to follow this Colts route of getting good citizens through the draft. Not going out and getting a lot of free agent guys. Playing it close to the vest at all times.

Guess what, the ONLY reason that crap worked for Indy is because they have Peyton Manning, the greatest qb of all time.
If you take him out of the equation, then they are just like us for the last 10 years.

They have to quit being so scared in every single decision they make. Take a chance, roll the dice every once in a while.

Your reasoning is flawed little one.

Trindon Holliday isn't a symptom. He's a 6th round draft pick who weighs as much as I did in high school and is about as tall as my mother. He got injured after looking like hot garbage and was sent to IR. The end. There's no bigger picture here, we took a flyer on a guy who turned out to be not that good at the one thing he's supposed to specialize in.

Talk about Frank Bush and his crappy schemes. Or getting rid of veteran CB's for little (too much money) to no reason at all (Why did we cut Reeves and Bennett again?). Rolling the dice indeed.

Talk about how Duane Brown and Eric Winston are both good for a false start and a hold each game. You could even talk about how we spent a billion draft picks on TE's and the best one we have is Joel ****ing Dreeson.

But no, apparently this 150 pound 5 foot 5 sixth round draft pick is the hidden symptom and YOU'RE HERE TO POINT THAT OUT DR. HOUSE.

Please, your schtick is as corny as the mudmonkey I left in the john earlier today.

Yeah, this past pre-season Trindon Holliday did nothing good and a lot of things bad. You can refer back to this post as many times as you need if it makes you feel better.

The problem with premise is pointing towards a 5 foot nothing guy, who in limited pre-season action did nothing for anyone to have any faith that he is an NFL player. Not enough to make a determination about his career (positive or negative), but there was more negative.

Now, criticizing Kubiak and Joe M. for not having a better plan at PR/KR is very valid and worthy of discussion.

Holy Crap thats it. Had we kept an injured Trindon Holliday on the active roster I'd bet we would be 10 and 2 right now!!!!!!!

Trindon is the obvious fix to our Defensive woes. I think he could be just the spark the D Line needs to get preassure to help our young secondary. He would blow right past Offensive Tackles and plow right in to the oppossing QB, and probably break his neck while the QB didn't even notice. Oh wait thats a FAIL!!!!!

Hold up just one minute... you mean, you are telling me that you don't believe in Santa??

Everybody we have thrown out there has turned to **** since they removed the wedge.

Jacoby Jones. Steve Slaton. David Anderson. Andre Davis. Trindon Holliday.

None of them have had any success. None!

Hell... while I'm at it... Even Turk kicks like ****. That special teams unit is NOT playing for Joe Marciano. Me thinks Jerome Mathis's probowl bid oversold Marciano's actual coaching skill.

Not last year! We sucked then too but not to the levels of this year. Marciano has completely fallen apart at the seams with the wedgle rule change. Or maybe he's adapting to the Kubiak wait and see plan?

I think there is a major lack of communication between the coaching staff and the players. It boils down to one word... not.

The coaching staff teaches what not to do. The players cannot hear nor grasp not.
