Trading Down- Who Needs a QB?

Bayern

Waterboy
Even after the moves made by Miami and NO, does it not seem like there is still an abundance of teams out there that need a high profile QB?

Raiders
Bills
Cardinals
Browns
Ravens
Cowboys
Bucs

I can see all of those teams interested in moving up if the price is right.

Just weighing options here. :stirpot:

Expanding on that, its pretty safe to say all three of the QB's in question (Lienart, Cutler and Young) will be gone in the top ten right?

The Browns and Bucs are not really in the market for a QB and neither are the Bills this year. Frye, Simms, and Losman are young and command a decent amount of cash to their teams. The others in your list are looking but you need to add Vikings, Tennessee, and possibly the Chiefs.

It's probable, mainly because the Lions & Cards could be the safety net at #9 & #10. There should be a team or two willing to make a move to grab a QB. I just don't think anyone will be willing to move all the way to #1.

Agreed on the Browns, Bucs, and Bills. Vikings and Titans are definitely looking for QBs too, not sure on the Chiefs.

With the Lions signing Kitna I doubt they look for a QB, at least not in the top 1-2 rounds. This is how I see things playing out as of now:

Texans - Reggie Bush, RB, USC
Saints - Mario Williams, DE, N.C. State
Titans - Matt Leinart, QB, USC
Jets - D'Brickashaw Ferguson, OT, Virginia
Packers - A.J. Hawk, LB, Ohio St.
49ers - Vernon Davis, TE, Maryland
Raiders - Jay Cutler, QB, Vanderbilt
Bills - Haloti Ngata, DT, Oregon
Lions - Michael Huff, CB/S, Texas
Cardinals - Vince Young, QB, Texas

The big 3 QBs all go in the 1st round, and obviously any trades will change things around a lot and the rest of free agency can alter things too.

Just curious but of little import. Why do you see Cutler with the Raiders instead of Young? Given some of the talk out of Oakland, it seemed like they are pretty high on him.

Raiders have indicated interest in VY, but given their type of deep ball offense, Cutler would probably match up better.

I think with Randy Moss and Jerry Porter they would be more inclined to get more of a strong-armed, pass-first QB that can throw the ball down field well, and I think Cutler fits that role better. Also, by cutting Kerry Collins and not yet signing a QB that can be a long-term option, I think they'll also look for a guy that is more "NFL-ready" and will be ready to play and contribute earlier, and I think Cutler is viewed as the more ready QB, but Al Davis is certainly one to pull some surprises so you never really know with him.
