Carolina needs a LG they are very deep @ DE (Mc Clover, Johnson, Brayton).

At the end of training camp I believe Pitts will not be tough enough for Gibbs.

Carolina could be a good trading partner.

Would you consider this trade. Pitts for Johnson or Mc Clover

My new O-LINE would look like this

LT Brown
LG Breisel
C Myers
RG Winston
RT Spencer

Backups would be Salaam, Frye, Enslinger, Butler & Weary

interesting idea :lightbulb:

LT Salaam/Brown
LG Brown/Frye
C Myers/Enslinger
RG Breisel/Weary
RT Winston/Spencer

if we roll out that line expect to see Schaub in a body cast by week 2.

Vinny

If Spencer's healthy I believe he can play RT.

You can move Winston to RG. He would be great @ sealing off the backside for cutback runs IMO.

Also this would be a way to get your best 5 OL on the field @ the same time.

Isn't it great that we finally have some depth on the OL.

I can't wait for TC to see if Spencer's healthy.

the depth is nice but you got a rookie LT, a guy who probably isn't a NFL starter at Guard (at least he has yet to prove he can play at a high level for any period of time), a new center who the Broncos didn't think was worth a 5th rounder, and Winston who really isn't a Guard and would probably get destroyed by the bullrush inside protecting your franchise QB..

Good point Vinny

I feel much better knowing that a HOF OL coach picked the LT & suggested we trade for the C.

Gibbs will find a way to get the best 5 OL on the field @ the same time.

Well, I'm of the opinion that a LG that has started every game since 2002 is pretty darn tough and will still be on the team this year.

But to play along, I would say:

Salaam
Spencer
Myers
Weary
Winston

Interesting idea. I would have to decline the trade though. I think starting out, just now learning/tweaking the 'new' ZBS, I think we need all the OL we can. The twist comes if, Gibbs, Kubiak and Smith all think that Pitts won't be starting nor would he provide backup as well as other players could. If that's the case, i would be for the trade but I think we need all the quality OL guys we can get our hands on.

I agree witgh OMT. Lets work the guys in various combos until Gibbs says "Let's Roll."

excatly. don't think Steel means trade now but sometime when they set the 53 man roster. Gibbs will have a pretty good idea by then I'm sure. my biggest problem is with the team, I doubt its Carolina. one, Travelle Wharton should be their starting LG. two, is Pitts an upgrade for them? three do the Panthers have that speed edge rusher we covet enough to give up Pitts? those are no's across the board.

now if we're talking trading partners you have to bring up the Denver Broncos. a name I like is Jarvis Moss. Pitts & another 5th rounder :mshadows:

Agreed.

Spencer is up and running but I'm not putting anything into it until I see him in pads going fullspeed. I think Pitts has the footspeed to be the LG easy. I think either Brisiel and someone else would have to have one hell of a TC to get Pitts out of LG because I think Brisiel will havea great battle with Weary for the starting spot at RG.

Our line minus Pitts is much worse than our line with Pitts. Just as we're starting to get some quality depth, you want to push an unknown commodity into the starting lineup? You can't question Pitts' toughness when he has started every game since 2002. What do you even base your assertion that he's soft on? The fact that he was on the Ellen show? So was Salaam and he played under Gibbs for a few years. I'm very interested to see how Pitts plays next year now that he doesn't have dead weight lining up beside him.

My assertion of him not being tough comes from the way he took KUBES calling him out on the sideline. (not well, Whiney).

That's not going to work well with Gibbs.

The fact that he has started so many games is an indictment of CC's lack of drafting accumen.

Yes I was talking about doing a trade after TC when Gibbs has had a cxhance to work with all of the OL.

I did'nt propose a trade. I just threw it out there as food for thought.

I pretty much agree w/ the above .... I see Pitts as the starter at LG next season and probably 09 as well.

Im not trading starting quality OL for a 3rd down specialist on the DL .

I will let you guys bicker over the OL stuff, but on the other side of that trade those DEs are not significant upgrades over WEave. A couple have youth and more speed on thier side, but Carolina DEs are not a strength of the team.

J-J-Jul-Juli-Julius Peppers? (Yes I know he had a pretty bad season last season)
