Trade the Pick? Trade Bush?

What do you guys think of selecting Bush or whoever New Orleans wants and then trading him for D’Brickashaw Ferguson selected number 2 by New Orleans and picking up New Orleans #34 pick and taking another lineman like Max Jean-Gilles or Andrew Whitworth.

I don't follow the Texans but I do know that you have big needs on the OL. Not sure if you guys are ready to give up on Carr or want to see him play behind a good line and see what he can do. You have a good RB in Davis and a few good WR's already.

If you pick Young, Bush or Leinart, how big of an impact does that have until the OL issues are addressed?

Just curious.

NO Needs a QB ..... Not a RB , they will take Lienart or Young pending he leaves school .... also pending the Texans dont take him #1:twocents:

Starting over on O-linemen is gonna set us back just like starting over @ QB. They have to learn the system, get used to a 20 + game season (preseason, reg season, and possible playoffs). So whats the difference . If we go down the route of drafting linemen then were gonna take 2 with our 1st 2 pix. As well as aquire 1 in FA. That's 60% of our O-Linemen play. We'll still suck in that dept for at least a season or two.

We need to draft the more obvious sure thing and go either Young or Bush.

My vote is Young but if he slips past us and goes to NO or Tenn, then I've got no problem being a fan of those teams. Simply put, wherever Young goes, that's the team I'm gonna be a fan of for as long as he's in the NFL. Hopefully we do the right thing and bring 'em home and I can continue my allegiance with the home team.

I think that you are right in your thinking of making the trade. The question however lies as to what do you trade for and when do you trade? Do you trade pre draft or do you pull what the chargers did and draft bush and the trade him. There is no question that the main concern for The texans is offensive lineman no matter what people think of Reggie Bush. It is fathomable that we make a trade in late march/early april to try to pick up 2 verteran offensive lineman for this pick as well as additional picks. Given Reggie Bush is being played as the next Barry Sanders, but he is not needed by the texans as dominick davis will suffice. And those of you thinking Vince Young are plain out nuts as David Carr will be a great qb if he is given time to throw the ball and go through his progressions.

Trade the pick down, get an olineman of a defensive player.

agreed. i don't know why everyone thinks we need to draft bush or young (i'd prefer leinart or jay cutler actually since they're both better qb's). qb and rb are not the main priorities, it's defense and OL. TE and wr's need to be touched up on but that can be addressed later. if teh texans need a qb, i'd love them to get schaub or garrard if they're available in FA. it doesn't matter who gets drafted, they'll all have to learn a anew system so it's a moot point to say the oline would have to learn but bish can be great right away. this is the nfl. speed catches up to everyone.

From a PR standpoint, drafting VY would buy the organization more time to build. There would probably be a grace period of another 2 years of stinking it up. With Carr, the upcoming pressure would be tremendous. If Vince Young ends up being average, the general public will be okay with it. If Carr ends up being average, the Texans "will be run out of town" as one caller said. lol

again, who gives a damn what the general public thinks? they don't run organizations for a reason. you're saying "eh, we had 4 years of nothing which sucks, but if have 4 more years that suck with vince young it won't be as bad." that's stupid. carr with good coaching and a decent line will probably be better, doesn't havew to be a pro bowler but just not a bust.

From a business standpoint, PR is very important. Vince Young while he had a great season, is not ready to be an NFL qb. Plus your drafting this kid in hopes of what trading away a QB who is ready and with an Oline has the potential to be great? If you want a QB, you draft Matt Leinart, or Jay Cutler not Vince Young. Back to the PR, that is not what the GM is paid to do. He is paid to get the right staff and right players to win games because when it comes down to it, it is not how much money the team is making, its how many games they win. If CC does survive this offseason and does not have 7+ wins next year, he is gone and he knows it. That is why he can not draft VY to give the franchise more time or he won't be here when time comes. Reggie Bush is the only feasable Draft pick for the texans if they do decide to use the pick. However the smart thing to do is trade the pick away and get the offensive linemen to utilize the personal that already exists.

I like this idea very much, but not really for football reasons. While watching Virginia's bowl game I heard the commentator mention that D'Brickashaw Ferguson is a 1st degree black belt in karate. Even if the Texans don't win a game for the next 4 seasons at least we could take solace in the knowledge that our offensive tackle could roundhouse kick the crap out of any opponents. Perhaps this would start a popular trend and propel Chuck Norris to the top of every team's draft board for 2007.
