Trade Rumor from NY

MorKnolle

All Pro
I was on the Jets message boards and it sounds like there are rumors around New York that the Jets might franchise/transition tag John Abraham and send him to the Chiefs for the #20 pick in this draft. That would be an interesting trade and I could see that happening, but for those of us who are looking to trade down that might significantly impact our possible trade with the Jets. At this point those are all just rumors, but I found that interesting and thought I'd post that on here.

that would be sweet if the chiefs traded with us and took vince..then certain people could cry about how they got DJ and vince!!!!

we trade for the jets 4th, they trade it for the cheifs 20th, is that what you are saying??

It doesn't surprise me that the Jets would trade down. I believe all of the top teams would rather trade down instead of up because of the holes that they have.

I can also see the Chiefs drafting D'Brick or Mario Williams. D'Brick might be drafted because they have a great but aging line, and Williams because they need defense.

Interesting. Will Kubiak have the same effect on our post season moves by bringing former players via acquisition? I hope so as I think it is one of the most underrated values a coach brings to the table, his player rolodex. I hate Parcells (in a fan way) but I respect him for guys will play for him anywhere.

So Mork are you saying we possibly could trade down and get the 4th and 20th pick plus a fourth as the trade down from number 1. That will take away the next year's first, but I could live with that. Mario Williams and Eric Winston in the first and then the second is trade down a little for Mangold and maybe Ko Simpson or a CB. Damn this is gonna be a long 3 mos.

You've misread the rumored deal. The Jets trade Abraham for KC's 1st round pick (#20). The Jets would then hold the #4 & #20 selections in the draft.

What MorKnolle is suggesting is that the Jets would then have the means to move up to the first pick in the draft. Maybe they would. My guess is that the Jets would target D'Brick at #4 and and a cheaper replacement for Abraham at #20 (Hall or Kiwanuka?).

This is a good possiblity, but I think the Jets would much rather have the fan draw and potential of a running back. That's why I thought a trade of 4th, Abraham and next year's 1st for Texan's 1st was doable.

If the Jets had the #4 and the #20 it would give them some leverage to trade for the #1 pick, but I personally would rather have the Jets and Chiefs not make that deal and then send them the #1 and get the #4 and John Abraham from them rather than the #4 and #20.

I would like to have Abraham cause of the fact he is already established, and you never truley know what will come out of the rookies, but then this years draft seems to be the best in a long time, it will be a very very long draft

Sorry, I did misread it. But that still doesn't change my belief that the teams at the top would rather trade down than up.

My thought is two very solid players are better than one superstar. We could take D'brick and then maybe Ko at #20. He could be the next Polamalu. If we could get their 4th as a bonus I would really like Garrett Mills. He might be the most underrated guy out there. He is simply a great football player and despite his heighth he could catch out of the backfield and possibly line up at Te or slot. The next Chris Cooley IMO.

That would be brick, ko, and mills or Bush.

I don't like this plan at all.

Mills could be used as a Cooley type, but I don't really know how much he'd add to our offense. I still don't have D'Brick as my top OLineman that I'd like to get and I would rather get Mario Williams to anchor our DL and then get Eric Winston at #20 in this case. Ko Simpson should be a good player, but I think we can find better value than him at #20 if we end up there. I would much rather come away from the top of the draft with Mario Williams and Eric Winston than D'Brickashaw Ferguson and Ko Simpson.

For offensive players that you are considering for the draft, look at the Broncos offense over the last 11 years and think, "How does this player fit into that offense and would he be a valuable addition to it?" since Kubiak ran that offense the last 11 years (which FYI was the #1 rushing offense, #1 overall offense in yards gained, and #1 offense in TDs scored over those 11 years) and as head coach and offensive playcaller here, I'm sure he will run the same system and hopefully duplicate their success.

Mills could keep DD from taking twice the beating since he would be the outlet guy instead plus I think he will surprise people with his attitude and greatly help the character of the team which is my top priority in putting a championship team together. If Ko ends up being anything in Polamalu league I think #20 would be great value (but there will be a lot of great talent there) and I think the offense neeeds the confidence brick would bring but having Williams would be great also. I just think you can't ignore the line anymore and you have to bring in the top prospect and I don't think taking him at #4 is a stretch since whoever drafts there will probably take him. Thanks for your feedback though you obviously do your homework. Too bad we'll have to wait a couple of years to see who the pro bowlers will be from this class.

I think a bigger, more pure TE would be a much better fit for our team, and there are plenty of those availale.

It would be nice to have a Polamalu-clone on the team, but I'm not sure that's what Ko would be, plus I think we have bigger needs to address at #20 if we end up with that pick.

I don't think the offense "needs" D'Brick for confidence, solidifying the OLine will help and the new coaching staff/system should help a whole lot. I still prefer Eric Winston to D'Brick though because he is a good pass blocker (not as good as D'Brick, but still good), and is a much better run blocker and can play more than just the LT position, so if I had to pick one OT to take I'd get Winston, and he will be available at the #20 pick if we do end up with that pick, so we can get him there and use the #4 on someone else, in this case Mario Williams. I think Mario will be a dominant pass rusher in this league, so in my mind I'd prefer to get my top choice of a DLineman and top choice of OLineman, which we could do if we end up with #4 and #20.
