Josh Carlin OL

JM: You’re a lot of fun executing those plays. Have you met with any NFL teams throughout this process?

Josh Carlin:
I met with the Texans, Cowboys, and Colts at the Tropical Bowl. It was a fun process. Those three teams knew a good bit about me. They like my versatility and how that's the biggest aspect of my game. They appreciate that I’ve had some great coaches and how that played a role in my time at UCLA.

It was a good experience at the Tropical Bowl.

I would rather an OL be really good at his job rather than be versatile. With that said Carlin would be a good 5th rd pick IMHO.

I think Collins would be more of a situational player in this D. 3rd round imho, and he may not make it that far.
Zierlein at NFL.com has Collins at DT9, around the 70th ranked player in the draft. But if you're talking about 2 gap DTs, he's ranked #2 behind only Ohio State's Tyliek Williams.

Collins' bio says he has only started 28 games in 5 seasons (but all 16 in 2024). That's misleading as he has played a lot of football at UT. Also, Texas has had 5 DTs drafted and playing in the league since 2021. It's like a DT factory in Austin.

Looking at the roster, the Texans could really use a 2 gapper like Collins. He's as good at what he does as anyone in the draft. It's just where do you draft a 2 down DT like Collins? One of the two 3rd round picks?
If he makes it to one of our 3rd round picks I’d happily turn the card in. I like his ability to plug the gaps.

I’d choose other DTs in the 2nd round before him though.

I want the Texans to get at least one of these young DT available in the 1st 3 rounds of the draft. Might the last piece of a great defense.

Give me Josh Farmer in the 4th…after a trade up or down.

I'm not sure Farmer will be available there. And the Texans don't have a 4th after the Tunsil trade. But, there should be 2 gappers on day 3. Guys like Cam Jackson (Florida) and Jamaree Caldwell (Oregon) fit that profile.
There's a good chance Caserio trades back into the 4th if a DT/RB that he likes falls to the 4th. It's much more likely that he uses 2026 picks to trade into the 4th rd, than it is that he uses 2026 picks to trade up in the 1st rd.

Gotta play to your coaching staff’s strengths. Chiefs have built a CB pipeline replacing developed studs with players on their rookie contract seamlessly. Texans can do that with DTs. Guys like Mario Edwards and Tim Settle had career years last season. Just draft their replacements and develop them to take over before they get a big payday. Rinse and repeat.

Any way Stewart falls to late 2nd? Production didn’t match athleticism. Just wondering if that might cause him to fall

In a class filled with athletic DL that produced in college, i’m not as interested in Stewart where he’s being mocked. I wouldn’t consider him before 2.58 and he’s going to be picked before then due to his traits.

Ceiling is Clowney. Solid, steady disruptive player.

But Clowney was a much better, more proven prospect.

Will Sheppard WR

“Vanderbilt transfer Will Sheppard had a terrific day. He timed 4.53 seconds in the 40, faster than expected, and touched 40.5 inches in the vertical jump and 10-foot-11 in the broad jump. Sheppard caught everything thrown in his direction and came away with a few difficult catches in contorted positions. Consistently productive throughout his college career, Sheppard was not invited to the combine despite a good senior season and three solid days at Shrine Bowl practice. He met at length with Sean Payton of the Denver Broncos as the team will look to add a receiver in the draft. He is drawing interest from the Los Angeles Chargers, Tennessee Titans and Houston Texans.”

“JM: Have you met with any teams throughout this process, and do you have any future visits scheduled?

Xander Mueller:
I met with a few teams at the Tropical Bowl in January. I had a few sit-down interviews. I met with the Patriots, Texans, Titans, Chargers, Bears, Raiders, Commanders, Dolphins, and Saints.”
Xander Mueller LB Northwestern

I looked at and like Judkins mainly because of his '23 season. He was the #2 ranked back in the country that year.
This year he had a solid partner in crime at Ohio in Treveyon Henderson and so split reps.
Judkins has good size and has tremendous balance. Has safe hands as well as a devastating stiff arm.
Only fumbled 3 times in 800 touches.
4:48 40 and 5.5 per.
This kid would look pretty handy in a Texans uniform.
My money is on Texans taking a back with one of their 3rds - and it'll be either Brashard Smith or Judkins.

How is Judkins in pass pro? He didn't play much on 3rd downs last yr.
