Top 5 positions in need of up grade and prospects

F-minus67

Veteran
Since it is the middle of June and the football news has all but dried up. So I figured I would look at the top 5 positions in need of upgrading on the Texans roster and who could be picked to upgrade them.

1. LT, for obvious reasons
2. TE, Carr has never had a reliable safty valve
3. C, McKinney cannot block his shadow
4. WR, a real number 2 would make AJ unstoppable
5. OLB, Peek has yet to shown he is the complete package

Top 4 LTs
1. D'Brickashaw Ferguson 6'5" 295lbs, UVA
2. Eric Winston 6'7" 310lbs, Miami
3. Jonathan Scott 6'6" 305lbs, Texas
4. Marcus McNeill 6'9" 340lbs, Auburn

Top 4 TEs
1. Marcedes Lewis 6'6" 255lbs, UCLA
2. Matt Herian 6'5" 240lbs, Nebraska
3. Dominique Byrd 6'3" 260lbs, USC
4. Tim Day 6'4" 264lbs, Oregon

Top 4 Cs
1. Mike Degory 6'4'' 310lbs, Florida
2. Greg Eslinger 6'3'' 285lbs, Minnisota
3. Donovan Riaola 6'3'' 295lbs, Wisconsin
4. Kyle Young 6'5'' 320lbs, Fresno St

Top 4 WRs
1. Todd Watkins 6'3" 185lbs, BYU
2. Derek Hagens 6'2'' 201lbs, Arizona St
3. Martin Nance 6'5'' 217lbs, Miami OH
4. Tramain Hall 5'11'' 187lbs, NC State

Top 4 OLBs
1. Chad Greenway 6'3'' 245lbs, Iowa
2. AJ Hawk 6'2'' 238lbs, Ohio St
3. Manny Lawson 6'5'' 220lbs, NC State
4. DeMecos Ryans 6'2'' 232lbs, Alabama

It would be tough for any of those 4 OLBs you mentioned to play OLB in our 3-4 scheme. They don't seem to have the size needed to take on opposing teams OTs. You might be better off listing some of the top DEs in the 250 to 270 range.

My Top 5

1.LT
2.DT- If Payne keeps getting hurt then we'll really need to replace him because we can't put all the pressure on our secondary, especially when we play Indy
3.TE
4.C
5.FB- Norris is good, but if we could find an Alstott:drool: that would be nice

Biggest reason I didn't say WR 2 is because I have a lot of faith that Mathis will be our DD at WR, and if not we got Armstrong.

Same with our OLBs they'll do just fine this year.

The top 5 3-4 OLBs for next year are IMO:
Mathias Kiwanuka, Boston College
AJ Hawk (I think he can play anywhere in a 3-4, since he has equally good pass rush ability, and run stopping ability, plus he has decent coverage skills)
LaMarr Woodley, Michigan (junior)
Manny Lawson, North Carolina St. (his official bio has him listed at 245, not 220)
Stanley McClover, Auburn (junior)

FWIW I would rate our needs like this, even though I think ranking needs this soon is silly:
TE
OC
ILB
OT
FS

Man how cool would it be if Mathias Kiwi could Bullk up to 300 lbs, we could put him at DE and kill manning and leftwich

how good is kyle young? Did him and Carr play togethor? Top 4 center seems good, and has good size, and since he is #4 ranked center we could get him with a decent late first day pick maybe? Maybe Carr and him could be rejoined?

Matt Herian is an excellent tightend. I would be very happy if we can get him next year. If we still have issues with our o-line then D'Brickshaw Ferguson will be targeted by the Texans staff. But all of this is moot now, we have to wait and see how these players play this season.

LT- Assuming Wand doesn't get any better this year.
C - Mckinney's cool but wouldn't mind an upgrade.
FS- Yes I like coleman but I'd like a better tackler back there.
TE- I'd like to have Carr a nice valve.
RB- Yes I know this seems odd but DD hasn't shown me franchise and I'm not sold on darth morency.
