Top 32 Draft Board

beerlover

Hall of Fame
I've seen several posts recently with people taking great care & time to create a Mock Draft, a lot of times based on team needs & not necessarily on the Best Player Available, which is a Hot Topic for another thread. So here is a challenge to all instead of another meaningless Mock Draft why not try to come to a consensus on a Top 32 Draft Board instead? If we can agree on the best, top rated prospects then come draft time we will be better prepared to rationalize each teams picks, especially the Texans. I personally think there will be far more trades made than ever (cheaper) so its just too darn tough to know what each war room's dealings will yield, but its not so difficult to know what everyone wants thats the Best Player Available. I'll get this thing started then its up to the rest of you to contribute, make corrections, adjustments & come to a HoustonTexans consensus :thumbup

Nice post Beer ......

I agree , there is a huge difference between the best available and who some teams actually draft . Your top 32 look well thought out , not much i would change other than a shuffle of a few here and there ...... i do think the four best players in this draft are Ronnie Brown and DJ, Antrell Rolle and Cedric Benson in that order .

Although QB is a high profile , high need position for several teams i really doubt Aaron Rodgers or Alex smith have top 10 potential .... no matter what the media says . But because they are in the high profile / need position they will go early . This is just my opinion .......

If I didn't type it, it ain't according to Vinny. I'm not convinced the internet draftsperts have a good feel for the first couple of rounds in this deep but not elite draft. There are many names you didnt list that will probably be in the top 30, and many of those names will probably drop out of the top 40. In a draft with so many players rated around the same it is hard to forecast and I'm just not smart enough to forecast it.

you only get credit for the top 5 picks as specified via your elongated post :fib

:thumbup If you take body of work + workout numbers I'm going with Derrick Johnson .

I believe the workout numbers are not as important but they do count . Ronnie Browns workout moved him up but he did not have the career DJ had .

funny thing as Casserly says they will take the BPA it still comes out Troy Williamson the fastest WR in the draft from Dunta Robinsons old school. I think we all could live with that :thumbup

If you are going career + workout why wouldnt Ced be higher that Ronnie Brown, he had a better college career than any of these backs...

I would have to go..
1. DJ
2 Ced Benson
3. Mike Williams
4 Ronnie Brown
5 Antrel Rolle
6. Braylon Edwards
7. Caddilac
8. It gets blurry

Guys, maybe you could help me with this one?

Im in Japan and saw one game on TV here, but I listened live to all of them through Field Pass, and from what I listened to is David was running for his life on every pass play, so a fast reciever sounds perfect at #13, but why dont we trade picks, players or something to get a good LT,LG,OC, to protect his back side, haven't we already passed on a few of the good ones in Free Agency, like Pace?

Please tell me if im wrong, I need some help over here.

if the Texans receive an offer they couldn't refuse for the 13th pick & trade down you'll find a lot of company who would like to see the Texans draft a David Baas type latter the 1st day. consensus is however that would be unlikey due to lack of interest by teams not wanting to trade up. many Texans feel the same way, most likely they draft at least a Center of Guard prospect somewhere 1st day.

It seems like the Texans draft rest on the shoulders of Mr. Sharper, and whether he gets traded, and we get something in return or maybe( dont think this would ever happen) he re-negotiates his contract and we fill the middle of the defense with him.

If that would happen, Troy Williamson at #13 would be great with the line being addressed on the first day, like you said.

Hey Keg-O-Bud, I am a UGA alum and even I don't put Davis and Pollack at 1 and 2. Is this a mistake, or are you trying to stir the pot?

OK, you have officially gone insane. But to make your boat float a little higher, the Lions signed Kennoy Kennedy today--they are the only team that looked like they had a serious chance of taking Davis before #13 so better chances for your fantasy.

I'm guessing that BOB thought this was a ranking of your top 32 Texan prospects.

:thumbup Lay off or pass it . That way I can start talking about Ricky Williams becoming a Texan along with the old Cowboys Center Mark Stepnowski .

Please don't. I can barely take all the wishful thinking that we are going to draft DJ and that he along Cedric Benson are #1 and #2 players in the draft.
