TNF Game Day Thread: Saints @ Packers

Man what if the Packers meet up with the Texans in the Superbowl??? I predict the score to be 84-76 with the Texans winning. Lol.

Did you see the crowd shot and the fans who had Super Bowl ring foam hats, complete with bling bling? Wicked awesome. Spectacular.

By the way: Raise your hand if you wish NBC had the AFC games instead of CBS? The presentation (the camera work, the shot selections, the picture quality, and the on-screen graphics) are just brilliantly done.

Watching CBS, it feels like they are lacking so much.

Up by 15, they have Rodgers still in at QB?

6:37 left to play. I don't get it.

I'm definitely alot less worried about our matchup vs. the Saints. Their defense looks rather weak.

The ONLY thing, though, is Brees' ability to put a pass wherever he wants to whenever he wants to. He spreads it around, his WRs are always ready to make a grab-and-run out of nowhere. They're the new Colts, IMO.

But, I look at our preseason game and our defense was able to harass them a lot. So I'm fairly confident we'll be fine like you say.

As good as schaub is, he is no Rodgers. And overall, their receiving corps is better. Packers will make a lot of defenses look so-so. Rodgers is an animal.

He made his hay in the Super Bowl. He has earned a night off.

cmon man, u know its not as simple as him "taking/wanting a day off". some days u just wont be the guy that makes all the great plays, your teammates will....it wont be any different for mario.

Isn't this the only game NBC does each week. That's why they can throw so many resources at it.

Ughh, i swear these two teams met before the game just to mess with my fantasy team. The dude has SEVENTY points and it's not even sunday. FML.

and they say Kubiak goes into his shell with the lead....

what the hell was that!?

look at that ****...ryan u still not worried about the saints? they moved that ball effortlessly down 80 yards.

Helluva way to start the season! Great game. Surprised they ran it at the end though. They hadn't done anything all day on the ground.

Against that stupid @$$ prevent defense... Of course Brees will pick them apart.

Oh and now you see why they didn't run it on 4th & short before.

Dear NFL,

You're forgiven for that whole lockout thing.

Yours Sincerely,
Mr. I'd forgotten how boring baseball is.

They're a very beatable team...I wouldn't pencil it in as a guaranteed win, but also can't pencil it in as a loss either.

What an ugly game. All the dumbass rule changes in the last ten years have really watered down the NFL for me. I know that fans want to see games like this, a million points and passing yards in every game. But as a guy who played cornerback his entire life, I can't stand to see the defenses in the NFL at such a disadvantage because of the rules.

If you could overturn or reverse just one of the rule changes, which would you pick?

For me, it's the most recent change regarding not being able to pop a WR going across the middle. This whole "defenseless WR" thing is the worse thing ever. Worse than when they instituted the "Illegal contact" rule which took away bump-and-run coverage.

70 points huh? So who'd he have? And did any of your guys play tonight? I hope not.

He had Drew Brees, Greg Jennings, and Darren Sproles....FML. I had Brees and Sproles in the TexansTalk league so at least i had that going for me, but i didn't want to lose at all this week.

My last pick of my keeper draft was Cobb. God bless auto-starter leagues.

Well then hopefully you have a strong squad for Sunday since he already played his aces... perhaps? And you haven't played any guys yet...

I had Grant... he gave me 4.5 points and the dude I'm facing had Rodgers at QB who put up 24.5, but I'm looking to put up a lot of points come Sunday.

He still has Foster, but other than that his team is crap and if Foster doesn't play, his roster doesn't have any backup RBs.

Malcolm Jenkins laid a good, well timed hit on Driver.

I was glad a flag didn't come out, but under the new rules I thought one might be thrown.

That rule kind of confuses me because it seems kind if subjective.

NO moved the ball pretty much all night like that against a very stout & proven defense & in GB at that....now substitute our unproven defense in & factor in that we'll be playing in the superdome. Its scary how acurate is brees is when he's got reasonable time in the pocket.

Crazy game. I dont want to go crazy on how the NFL has changed the rules to cater to the offense based on this game. Brees and Rodgers are really just that good. Ill wait to see if its a week in week out thing. I had Mark Ingram in one of my leagues, so I was sad to see him stuffed at the goal line.... but what can you do.

Am I the only one that thought Drew Brees was making uncharacteristic, amateur mistakes? That sack he took turned a chip shot FG into a decent try. He scrambled backwards another couple times. He forced throws that he shouldn't have. He just didn't look like the awesome QB he really is.

I hear alot of people bitching about the last play call by Peyton. I think it was the right call. With Jahri Evans and Carl Nicks up front with Ingram toting the ball, you should be able to get 1 stinking yard. I am fine with the playcall. The execution on the other hand.... I think the big uglies were tired.

A lot of the play calling by the Saints was not smart at all.

Agree. I would have gone nickel/zone blitz and dare them to run. There were open WRs on every play and it was pure personnel mistakes. Gregg Williams called an awful game.

I have no clue how anyone can match up with that Packer offense. They won it all last year, on the road, and with a ton of killer injuries. Now they're healthy. Yech.

I think it was a bad call because the oline was tired. And the packers had geared up to stop that.

He should have run it earlier in the game when he opted to pass and he should have passed or ran a sweep there IMO.

Minus that sack, his numbers beg to differ with your analysis, and it wasn't 'padding stats' numbers. His WRs were also 'weird.' There were 3 or 4 slips on the turf that caused incompletions, and it wasn't like it was a wet turf.

They were playing on the road against the defending champs who were on all cylinders for 60 minutes. With the offensive performance they put forth, they would win most games. This loss was on the defense, which looked awful and poorly coached/prepared.

I think the Packers were not going to be fooled on play action either. If you watch the play, two of their LBs (Hawk was one) were cheating towards play-action at the LOS.

Brees wasn't the same last year either. He's really fallen off and I don't see him as a top 5 QB anymore. Still very good, just not face meltingly badass. He's no longer a guy I half expect to challenge the all time passing record every season like he did a few years ago.
