[TMZ] Manziel poppin' bottles at a club

gg no re

iggnorent
Yes, he's not 21 yet. He is Johnny Footballin' though.

manzielwtmk-480w.jpg

Heisman Trophy winning quarterback Johnny Manziel -- aka Johnny Football -- celebrated his team's recent big victory with a bottle of Dom Perignon -- the only problem is ... he's 20.

Manziel and his Texas A&M Aggies destroyed Oklahoma in the Cotton Bowl on Friday, 41-13. On Saturday night, Manziel hit up Avenue Lounge in Dallas and as you can see in the pics ... he rather enjoyed himself.

We're told when the pics were taken, Johnny was hanging out with a small group of people in an area behind the DJ booth.

Manziel doesn't turn 21 until December and the club is a 21 and over place.

SHOCKER ... college kid drinking!

It would be nice to find a photo of the guy who took this photo and tried to ruin Manziel and post a photo of him cheating on his wife or something like that. Why would anyone go out of their way to mess with a kid who is just a few months away from being 21 and just won his first big Bowl game. Dude isn't hurting anyone. Leave him the hell alone and let him celebrate his victory and his great season.

He turned 20 in Dec, so not quite a few months away. But, TMZ did put up a follow up story acknowledging that he was there with his parents, which makes it legal in TX.

haters gonna hate.

It's just that mentality to try and ruin someone that I don't like. This kid isn't a jerk off like Cam Newton and his parents were or like Reggie Bush. He was a kid that a lot of schools wouldn't even recruit as a QB. Let this guy bask in his glory. He deserves it. Instead someone is trying to push a scandal on him and attempt to be the guy who got him suspended from the NCAA. Just sad.

All I know is I wouldn't have been mature enough to handle winning the Heisman at 20 years old. Can't imagine cameras snapping pictures of some of the things I was doing during that time.

Wasn't Johnny football arrest and charged with 3 crimes already? (Fighting some 50 year old man after his racist friend insulted him, and then giving the cops a fake id...)

I'm not defending selling secret pictures to TMZ, but at some point, 'famous' athletes need to grow up and realize that their actions garner attention. From the criminal charges to the scooby doo pictures, etc. Some NCAA players act like pros from an early stage and try to stay out of the public eye. Johnny Football seems to like the fame, and unfortunately, in our society, you get the good with the bad when you put yourself into that position.

Could care less about Johny Football having a fake ID. Wo!! A college kid with a fake ID? Who would have thought about that one. When I was 18 years old, I had probably the best fake ID I had ever seen. Took it with me to Vegas and gambled the entire vacation with my parents right there with me. My parents and I had a hell of a time together gambling. You seem to forget that certain states like Louisianna are thinking about lowering the drinking age it's so freaking stupid.

Either way, I have not seen or heard about anything thuggish from Manziel. I haven't seen him trying to go out of his way to get in the limelight either. If I'm not mistaken didn't he hide from the media for many weeks and just focused on football?? He may be everywhere right now, but shoot he just won the Heisman. He has no choice. Let him enjoy the moment while he still can. The only thing I fear for him is that it might be way to much to fast all of a sudden and he might lose focus. I'm not even an A&M fan, but I do root for most Texas teams after my Longhorns. Manziel is very exciting and I don't see the problematic stuff in him that you're reffering to.

Manziel didn't hide from the media. Sumlin has a policy where he doesn't let freshmen talk to reporters.

He made an exception once he was considered a legit heismann candidate.

No, he waited until after the last regular season game. Manziel was allowed to talk to the media after the Missouri game.

20 year old kid. Tons of fame. How well would you handle it?

You can definitely tell that Johnny likes his fun time.

I don't think anything is wrong with that as long as you can focus when its time to.

Only time will tell if he can find a good balance that will allow him continued success outside of his party life and public persona.

I'd say he's off to a damn good start after being in the spotlight the past few weeks, winning the Heisman, doing TV shows and partying with hotties. Even after all those distractions he was ready to kick the **** out of OU. I think he'll be just fine.

I agree with Dutch, I think he answered that question Friday night.

Oh yeah, I'm sure the 120 other college QBs were at home reading their playbooks on Halloween night... LOL You say it like it's a bad thing, but honestly I think those pics are a boon for recruiting. College Station isn't exactly known for attracting hotties.

Care to fill me in on the "etc"? Aside from the preseason arrest, I'm not aware of any other marks on his record, besides irrational Longhorn fans bringing up issues with his extended family.

Yeah, I just remember hearing that he didn't talk to the media when the season was on, and I sort of liked that. Didn't know all the reasons or that is was a tam rule. Good for Sumlin. I like that policy.

Instagram photos? We already saw one of them.

Here's a nice quote that I can get behind:

If Manziel wasn’t the Heisman Trophy winner no one would care. But Manziel needs to realize that he is the face of college football right now and he can’t post tweets like a 17-year-old recruit or an overpaid professional athlete. He's already gotten a lot of criticism about his courtside seats at the Mavericks-Heat NBA game and this is just another thing for people to complain about.
He should have fun. He’s a college kid. But in the end, there’s a time and a place to share your business and sometimes flashing dalla-dolla bills after a great run at the casino isn’t that time or that place.

What other college QBs are doing is irrelevant because they aren't as famous as he is. When you pose with strippers, its going to make headlines. Remember when Gronk posed with the playboy playmate and ended up getting scolded by the Pats?

I don't make excuses for famous people by age. If an 18 year old can be expected to have the maturity to volunteer and die for his country, expecting a 20 year old to possess some basic maturity isn't asking a lot.

I have no horse in this race. I'm not a longhorn or an Aggie. I legitimately like the kid. I just think defending him in the media with such vigor is a little over the top. He's famous. He knows he's famous. He likes the fame. And he is going to have to deal with the media reaction to the controversies that are going to surround him as long as he keeps putting himself in the spotlight.

Just simple personal responsibility. If he wants even a crack at an NFL career he needs to realize that character AND perceived character is something pro teams care about.

Here's a nice quote that I can get behind:

Sooooo, gambling legally in a casino is something he should hide? Being out on Halloween in public is something he should hide? Should he be tweeting pics of himself at home reading his Bible instead? C'mon, this is silly, either he's doing something wrong or he isn't. Aside from the arrest, I haven't seen anything to cause concern.

What other college QBs are doing is irrelevant because they aren't as famous as he is. When you pose with strippers, its going to make headlines. Remember when Gronk posed with the playboy playmate and ended up getting scolded by the Pats?

Whoa whoa whoa, strippers? Now this is news to me. Feel free to show me anything saying those Halloween chicks are strippers and not students. Comparing that to taking pics with a professional pornstar wearing your team's jersey is pretty low. Not really in the same ballpark.

I don't make excuses for famous people by age. If an 18 year old can be expected to have the maturity to volunteer and die for his country, expecting a 20 year old to possess some basic maturity isn't asking a lot.

Where am I making excuses? I'm saying he's fine to do whatever the hell he wants as long as it's legal. If he's getting money from boosters and gambling with it, then yeah that would be an issue, but I haven't seen anything like that. Feel free to fill me in on his other crimes or NCAA violations if you got anything.

That last line sounds like something Kubiak would say... I'm personally not concerned about it, and I wouldn't knock a guy for having fun and enjoying the spotlight. Cam Newton got arrested for theft and kicked off the Florida football team, yet still went #1 overall, so I kind of doubt Manziel's flaws will hurt him in the grand scheme of things. Talent is more important than twitter pics.

I would expect Manziel to put out Russell Wilson type performances when he comes into the league. Both are winners. Both are seasoned beyond their years yet both are still young & are entitled to mistakes while enjoying life as budding superstars.

The only thing I see wrong with the pic is the Miami Heat hat. Other than that carry on Manziel. Carry on.

I'd say he's off to a damn good start after being in the spotlight the past few weeks, winning the Heisman, doing TV shows and partying with hotties. Even after all those distractions he was ready to kick the **** out of OU. I think he'll be just fine.

I'm talking about the long haul. Vy appeared to have been able to handle all that stuff too.

College is not hard for talented guys like that. He could probably party all night and perform just fine in a game the next day.

Yeesh. You realize Manziel tried to break up the fight between his friend and the other guy, and the other guy wouldn't stop throwing punches so they got into it, right? And he had a fake ID, but hell. He's not smoking pot or snorting crack or shooting up heroin or something. In the Scooby Doo pics he's with girls at a halloween party. Not strippers. Probably students. Big deal. What's he supposed to be doing, wearing monk robes and practicing celibacy? It's not like it affected his prep for games.

He's not a thug, he's not a criminal. He's a guy who's really damn good at his sport, really famous, and maybe just a little immature, but are you going to attack every twenty year old for being immature? He's in college. If he's this way in the pros, that may be concerning, but so long as it's harmless stuff I see no reason to rag on him.

Well hopefully he continues to mature. around Kerrville there were rumors about a Fredericksburg wal-mart when he was in high school

Manziel is well liked by both his teammates and players on other teams.

He's not a locker room distraction. All this is just noise and him chumming the waters for his haters.

someone posts pics of him at a private party (where his parents are in attendance BTW) and all the haters jump on him for underage drinking.

He posts a pic of him showing cash at an 18+ casino and the haters get their panties in a twist again.

I'm not sure where you thought I got mad. I'm just saying, the Texans don't go out of their way to draft saints, they tend to draft good locker room guys.

As for pointing out the Aggies here... well, I'm sure my avatar doesn't help. :kitten:

I meant it was a joke. Matt Schaub with his "He's not Texans Worthy" comment.

I think Jonny football is every bit Texans worthy.

Crazy stuff. Glad he didn't win the Heisman. I wonder how many of the awards he did win were off of the sympathy vote.

Maybe you should take your own advice. With in hours of story breaking you made up your mind and if this would have been someone at A&M you would have said I want more info. Not trying to be a jerk but all to many times we jump to conclusions about a story before all the facts are out, like the Duke Lacrosse case.

There are plenty of people from ND who are saying that Te'o was hooking up with other girls during the time the supposed love of his life was thought to be on her death bed. Te'o is an opportunist dude. That part of the story can't be denied. There were plenty of chances for him to downplay his relationship with his "girlfriend" and he never did that. He enjoyed every ounce of the sympathy he received during that whole process. Even after he claimed he found out the whole thing was fake he still could have talked around it without referencing her specifically. Just say its been a difficult year for you and move on.

So don't jump on her for being honest about the situation. Te'o did use this situation to boost his profile. Even his teammates and fellow students at ND saw that. I've never used someone's death to try to gain sympathy. Why lie about your relationship with that person? Its a very sad ploy and says a lot about his character.

What a funny thread. This guy is G-rated compared to the stuff I was doing at 20. Not bragging by any means. Just glad the statute of limitations is in effect.

:worm:

Same here..... hell I barely remember some of the stuff I was doing at 20. Manziel is living the life right every kid wishes they could live. Just living the dream! Not mad at him one bit.

Meh, not very worried about it really. I think as long as he doesn't develop a record of arrests he'll be perfectly fine at A&M. Oh and whoever said A&M can't recruit hotties well. . . I don't think I've seen a major school in Texas that didn't have loads of "Talent" walking around campus. Hot 20 year old women grow on trees in Texas.
