Wasn't really interested in the Falcons/Miami game, but it was on while I was working on other crap in the house. Third Qtr started & I happen to hear, "& it's still Tj Yates...."
Totally forgot Tj was in Atlanta & I wasn't expecting him to play much. Luckily, my TV is on a DVR, so I rewound it a bit to see how much time Tj did play. Turns out Matt Ryan took the first series then it was all Tj after that.
On his first series he had the starting OL, but the skill positions were a mish mash of 2nd & third stringers. Protection wasn't bad, can't really say routes were run poorly, but Tj definitely made some "WTF" decisions. Then again, he was consistently talking to his receivers as if they weren't thinking the same thing he saw & they should. They appeared to take it well, so maybe he had a point. But I did like to see that coaching aspect of the QBs job, didn't really see a lot of that in Houston.
He had some big throws that helped his yards per att, not a lot of YAC from the receivers to skew it.
I wasn't overly impressed with him in the RedZone, but again it's hard to tell how he'd have done with better skill players & if he had more time working in their offense.
But judging from the time he played in the game, looks like he's entrenched as their primary back-up... which is good for him.
