Titans sign Matt Hasselbeck

Multiyear deal.

:fans:

Not sure if I'm too happy about this. Matt Hasselbeck is a playoff QB who took his team to a Super Bowl, and he also put up a big upset vs. the Saints last year. He's more accurate than what Tenn has had previously too, and until I see we've signed a quality veteran at CB or Safety, I don't believe we are in a position to feel safe about a team in our division getting a quality QB.

With Hasselbeck's arm and pinpoint accuracy... we NEED to get Nn........... um, wait, wrong thread !!

Sweet! Mario Williams will have fun chasing his old ass around the field. I bet Hasselbeck gets injured by week 6 and Locker is forced to start.

Hasselbeck is still a solid upgrade over the last old ass....

As a Titan fan, this is one of the first things they've done this calender year that I don't hate.

I can't believe people aren't happy about this. Dude hasn't bumped a 76 QB rating since 4 seasons ago. **** people around here are slagging Schaub as a mediocre system QB and he almost hit 100 in 2009. Heck HWWNBN had a better last three years in Houston than Hasselbeck (I even started to google HWWNBN to look at the stats out of habit).

As a Titan fan coming to grips with the harsh reality that they are committing to Locker long-term (I fantasized about Andrew Luck thinking 2011 was going to be a terrible team/season), the only reason I'm happy is that he's a solid pro that works hard and puts in tons of time in the film room.

Won't be a bad influence on the kid....

I still say that I won't be surprised if Munchak posts a better record as a first year head coach than Kubiak as a fifth year head coach.

Hasselbeck is a good signing for the Titans. He's got a great RB behind him, so he will be best to manage the game and hit his receivers, not carry the team on his back.

I think they signed him as more of a stopgap and mentor than as a QB to make them competitive in 2011. I have never understood the hype Hasslebeck gets, as the last few years he hasn't been anything but mediocre. I'm glad the Titans got him instead of Kolb or McNabb.

Just look at it as Chris Chandler starting before Mcnair got to take the helm.

This guy might be as old as Kerry Collings, who's applying for SS next month from what I've heard ?
Actually, he's just what they need, especially since I think he's supposed to already have a personal relationship with the Titans first round Draft pick.
I'd rather play against this guy than some other old vets they might have sign, like McNabb for example ? All AFC South pass-rushers should be drooling with this news.

I'm ecstatic, quite frankly!

I liked Vince better.

Couldn't agree with you more.

Someone said "accuracy?" In the last 5 games he played in the 2010 regular season, he threw only 4 TDs and 10 INTs

I agree man. Hasslebeck will not carry the Titans to the playoffs (someone is going to have to let him know that 7-9 will struggle to get you third spot, let alone playoffs in the AFC South!) - however the guy that can carry them to the post-season is Johnson. Hasslebeck is a smart football player, and the Titan's chances of implosion just greatly decreased with the Young out/Hasslebeck in move.
