Thought about drafting Von Miller

So I'm understanding this guy is sewing (or suiting?) the NFL. Today for some reason when I heard he was also being invited to the draft, I suddenly had thought about The Raiders' Al Davis. I recalled how it's looked in the past that the league has had it out for that guy (whether it's true or not).

I'm wondering if teams A) might face a consequence from the league if they draft this dude or B) because a., will teams be more hesitant to draft him and could that be a reason he falls to us?
 
I don't have a problem at all with him aligning with the NFLPA even though I disagree with it. The thoughts I have about drafting Von Miller is how would he impact on our team. He's one of my favorite prospects in this draft but I think there's some risk to his selection. I don't think he's near as risk-free as many other on here do.

Count me in on the bolded as well. I like what he does coming off the edge, He's got the "pass rusher's lean" i like to see from guys who speed rush off the edge like that. My only issue with him is his injury history & how he'll be able to hold up in pass coverage situations.

Yea, he's got the speed and explosion. I really really like him, but I worry if teams neutralize his speed off the edge that he would be ineffective. I think he's got good work ethic and a good head on his shoulders so I'm not really worried about him being a "bust".... I just don't know if his play would warrant a Top 3 or Top 5 draft pick like the mocks are projecting him at. I don't think he's near the "complete" football player that a Clay Matthews is. He's got the pass rush but is lacking in the physicality/tackling aspect of the game in my opinion. Doesn't mean he can't improve though! I think he's got the passion/work ethic to continue improving and that's why I'd love to have him.

I think he's plenty physical, but his tackling is questionable. When i watched him play, admittedly not too much, i saw him coming off the edge & getting guys down with basically arm tackles. That's not going to fly in the NFL. I also don't think he's gonna be able to blow any competent LT away with his speed like he did in college either. I liked Orakpo much better as a prospect coming out though they played slightly different positions i believe.
