Thomas Brown, Georgia running back

STEEL BLUE TEXANS

Hall of Fame
Anyone familiar with him? Lance Z has been talking him up lately. Thinks he would be a great pick in the 4th round. Says he's a bit on the smallish side but has a compact build. Runs with power and shows great burst through the hole.

This is from Lance's blog...

Thomas Brown, RB - Georgia: I consider him the poor man's Ray Rice both in stature and running style. He hits it in the hole hard and has good burst. He may be a little smaller than you want, but he's a try hard runner who breaks tackles.

Georgia RB Thomas Brown has looked terrific. He's the most impressive back in the East and he has great burst through the hole and around the corner. He even came out of the backfield and made a great catch down the field while falling out of bounds. He won't get past the 4th round. He's small but he's physical and tough and teams out at practice really like him.

Thomas Brown finished his career with 2646 rushing yards & 23 TDs. His best year was his senior year in which he had 779 yards & 12 TDs (2 rec).

He has missed 9 (3 this year) games in the last two season due to injury.

I like Thomas Brown a lot. He's def. a second day pick because of his size. I think he'd be a good later round pick like Z says in the 4th- guys got some moves to in the open field, he will make players miss him.

half of the Gerogia Bulldogs one two punch. was starter @ the beginning of the season with freshman sensation RB Knowshon Moreno the back-up. then he had a broken collarbone paving the way for Moreno to breakout & show next level skills, also he tore his acl the previous season. so tell me why you would want to spend a 4th rd. pick on him when he is a carbon copy of Darius Walker who went undrafted? :shades:

I believe there is a Willie Parker in this draft class. I also believe they'll sniff anything coming out of georgia playing RB very hard befor they select the guy.

okay I'll back up a bit. I think he's worth many teams looking at him somewhere on the 2nd day, make it a late 2nd day or so- point being not spending a 1,2,or3 for sure. I'm still a little confused about Darius Walker being undrafted and then we released him...resigned him and it's like a light went off in his head or something. maybe that was a wake up call.

To be honest I like Thomas Brown more than I like Darius Walker. His ACL injury didn't seem to effect him much, if any. He came back from it and played great and had a good senior season considering he missed 3 more games. The injury bug is def. something to look at- w/ this collar injury. He did come back from that and finished the season off strongly though.

Knowshon Moreno was and is the start RB of the two though. they were a good tandem to have in the backfield and it'll be fun watching Moreno as he gets more experience.

I could not find the recent article concerning Walker in the Houston paper. He stated it had hit him hard not being drafted after a pretty good college year. Then he got cut by Texans which really messed with his head. I think Taylor got hurt and a week or so later Walker got the call back. He said that he was going to make the most of the chance and seems to have done so.

The quality this kid has over Walker is that he's got excellent speed & quickness while Walker is only mediorce in that department and he certainly doesn't run very hard. So Walkers got minmul upside as compared to the Georgia back.
