This is JUNE people

Vinny

shiny happy fan
Why does everyone want coverage then complain when they get some? It's JUNE!!!!! This is the time when teams experiment and look at their teams in different manners before they go to training camp in a couple of months. I browse tons of NFL boards to compare what we are doing as opposed to other NFL teams and collectively we don't seem to grasp what month this is. Just figured I'd throw that out there to everyone panicking about every little sentence released from the coaching sessions.

It wont help. 20 minutes from now, someone will release a "Morency with 1st team offense!!! Domanick must have been outplayed, or hurt!!!!!" thread... Just wait.

Eh, what else is their to talk about? Would you like another thread devoted to David Carr's hair? Would training camp please get here, before I go nuts. :brickwall

Complaining that the team is panicking in April and June boggles my mind. Some of you guys actually think the Texans wing this whole billion dollar operation without a plan.

How about another Carr vs. Harrington vs. Leftwhich debate? They always seem to draw interesting yet repetitive points. :bomb: I can't wait for the season to start.

It's a pretty funny argument. On one hand, they complain that the team hasn't and isn't addressing the problems with the OLine. Then, the same people are complaining about the team experimenting with the structure of the OLine.

There are just a lot of fans that won't ever be happy. A lot of these complainers just want to be associated with a winner. That's why they root for a team. It has very little to do with any love of the game or appreciation for it. My seat at the stadium is surrounded by people who were booing Carr and the coaches in the 4th quarter of our win against Dallas in 2002. That's who we're dealing with.

I KNOW it is June ... and I am pissed!

Training camp hasn't started, basketball and baseball just don't do it for me, I have paid for my season tickets and I don't have a time machine!

:deadhorse Trying to keep people from inventing tension online is like asking the media to lead off with a story about something good happening.

I enjoy it when the press quotes some player they are interviewing after a practice session in this heat. The player says a few things while trying not to pass out from the heat and exertion. The reporter prints an article that he distils from several minutes of talk.

Then someone pulls out a fragment of a sentence from the article, analyzes what Player X meant when he said "yada yada yada", and posts it on the board for proof of conspiracy.

I like the humor of it.

Tony B....that's a whole other thread! I am going crazy trying to wait on the season to start....optimism over this years team is good. I am hoping we gel well on both sides of the ball. Sure there are questions about talent and who's gonna line up where but all of those will be answered in good time..just not fast enough for me. Hell, line up anyone in the tackle, guard, or center position...just let the season begin :goodnight

I think we all need to remember that if we did'nt take Tony B off the losers from JVille we would not have gotten Walker and Payne. If not for both of them we would not have won our 1st game. Don't slam TB too hard...It was not his fault that JVille screwed him...

Shhhhh--stop bringing up the B word.

If need be, we can just bring up any of 1000 old threads that have all the info and debates.

Crosses fingers and prays Ses doesn't see this thread.

I agree with Vinny. Its JUNE people! Calm down... All of these chicken little threads are driving me insane! I cant wait for the pre season games to start. :brickwall

isn't june/july/august the official "play madden or go insane" time? i know it has been for me since 2001...

on a related note:
currently i am playing the 2005-06 season right now (17-1 going into the superbowl against carolina) on all-pro, but the interesting thing about that is how i got to this point. after simulating the 2005 season i checked the stats/records to see how everyone finished and here are some interesting tidbits:

- carr threw for 3700+ yds
- davis only rushed for 850 something yards with 8 touchdowns
- dre and carr made the pro-bowl
- the texans went 12-5, losing in second round of the play-offs

well to create the most authentic roster's possible i have "user control" of all 32 teams, i made the all the big personel moves before simulating the 2004-05 season (george to dallas, ricky sat out the season, etc) and at the season's end imported the '04 NCAA draft class. although the draft order was quite skewed (we picked TJ at 29  ) i made the trades that gave teams the number of picks to be as close as possible our most recent draft. amidst alot of boo's, i picked the player's who were available to whatever team they play for now, but if the player was not in the draft (most, if not all junoirs) i picked the best player available at the position the team drafted (sadly no matt jones to the jags, mike williams to detroit, mankins to NE, thomas davis can't be switched to an LB, and we didn't have the choice to pick up anybody we picked after TJ...but i created mathis just to return kicks  )
going into the superbowl some team stats for our texans are as follows:

- our 'O' average's 29.5 points a game and is the 7th most productive unit, yards wise, in the NFL
- our 'D' only allows 14.7 points per game (1st in the league) and is ranked 18th overall
- in the entire NFL, we rank last in pass defense (mainly because teams are always trying to catch up to a 14+ lead for three quarters) but are first against the rush. we are 13th in interceptions (19), tied for 31st in sacks (33), 1st in defensive redzone attempts (31) and redzone scoring precent (54%) and are 1st in the league with a +16 turnover difference.
- we are 1st in rushing touchdowns (21), 1st in int's thrown (10) and get this...1st in sacks allowed (18) !!!

i could list tons more, but since i know it would only be to satisfy my sick desire to post uselessly i'll spare you, my fellow texans fans. just thought i would rant and hopefully inspire someone past the boredom many of you are currently facing. and this concludes my "poor and impatient man's madden 2006" lesson...godspeed september, godspeed...

Kinda funny how you can post an It's June!!!!! thread and it has a 2nd page going.

You know that someone is gonna post something in here that people can argue about, and its going to end up like 6 pages long... :fishing:

What is this "anybody but who we have now" thinking?

I ask that since I thought the Texans should have won at least two games under the "any given Sunday clause" that they lost (Indy at home and Cleveland anywhere) and a prudent front office would have been pretty happy to make sure to maintain the momentum of a 9 and 7 record.

This does not mean dismantling the offensive line...

Well it goes both ways. I thought we should have lost 2 games we won. KC, and Tenn at home, on any given sunday.

That would give us a 5-11. Would that call for dismantling the offensive line?

Not that this really goes to your main point at all--I'll give you KC, but how "should" we have lost the Tenn at home game? Yeah, they pulled to an early lead, but that is why it is called an early lead because there is a lot of the game left. After mid 2nd quarter, that game was all Houston.

Well, in theory, there were several games we "should have won"...looking into last year at the beginning. Who would have thought we would have lost to San Diego or Detroit...not I. It just goes to show the improvement on a year by year basis that these teams are making. Hopefully this year we will be 9-7 or 10-6. I would be happy with that progression.....really happy. I just want us to whip up on Jacksonville again. The funny thing is on their boards they don't consider us a "rival" yet but they have a thread going about what there worst loss was last year and ours is the answer the majority of the time.

I'm with ya brother. You sound as compulsive with Madden as I am. I spent 2 days just naming the rookie class that I uploaded from NCAA. I didn't controll all 32 teams though... I guess it's time for me to take the NEXT step.

I am the same way, my fiancee' says I'm a little "too" into Madden, I say I just want it to be realistic. Hey, something has to get us from Feb to Aug, am I right?
