The True Test

Since this is being billed as a "competition" between Bush & Young for the #1 Pick, why not bring them both in on the same day. Work them out together. I think that would be the ultimate test ...pressure situation ...would show some of their true character.

I wonder if something like that has ever happened. Also, I hear New Orleans is shopping that #2 pick ...not too late, lol.

Vince AND Reggie ...we could sell out for the next 5 years. Hell, the Texans could make enough money to build 2 stadiums and alternate every other home game if they wanted. I wonder if they have even considered that option.

This may work on Madden ...... But this is the real world and this is NOT a Realistic situation to ponder .... :crying:

Couldn't even do it in theory, since their home towns are about 1500 miles
apart and its my understanding that prospects can only work out for an
interested team in the city they call home.

Can't happen, Bush can only work out in Los Angeles (college city) or San Diego (home town) and Vince can only work out in Austin (college city) or Houston (home town). I don't know for sure but I highly doubt the top two prospects have ever been from the same town (at least since they instituted this rule on draft prospect workouts) that they could both work out at the same time. There is no way we could get the #2 pick from New Orleans, we don't have the trade bait for it, we don't have the cap room to trade enough players off to get the #2 pick, and we don't have the cap room to sign the top 2 picks. If we somehow did make that trade, they'd take Reggie Bush and Mario Williams (best player on offense and defense in one draft would be pretty special, but financially and realstically impossible.

Actually it's not between VY and Bush. It's between Bush and Williams.
The VY debate is from Carr haters and UT fans.

Yes, it definitely appears to be a tossup between Bush and Mario for the #1 pick (can't say that I'm disappointed that those are our two choices right now either, both of them should be phenomenal additions to our team and provide immediate and long-term help for our team).

young has no chance at being drafted first. or second. or third. or fourth. he'll go as high as detroit.

Agreed. Vince isn't even an issue anymore. Even if we could work RB and VY out at the same time.... it would prove nothing. They are not at the same position and it would only be one of those press extravaganza deals. People keep trying to compare them using stats and it really gets me ticked sometimes.

Calm down. I happen to be a fan of the game of football and a loyal Texans fan. I didn't know about the prospect rule ...hence the question. I thought it would be a good idea to have the two most popular players in the draft ...and the only two that have hinted that there is an actual "competition" to be the #1 pick ...participate in a little "1 on 1" (so to speak) ...with the team that has that pick!

So, for all you armchair GMs ...GET A LIFE...and let me explore the possibilities!

You should be able to express your pov...but putting football players through a superstars® competition is no way to grade a football player. If you (scouts) can't figure out who you want by watching them play football you should get another profession. Perhaps a tug-O-war?

C'mon people. We all know there is only one way to determine which of two men are better.

Thunderdome. Two men enter, one man leave.

FWIW, Vince takes out Reggie by throwing the chainsaw at him.

Must be Friday...

Not what I had in mind exactly (more like the usual ...40 ...position drills, etc) but I like it ...some of that primitive padding ...a helmet with no facemask ...it could work!
