The "take a playmaker and trade" draft

With Kubiak saying he wants a playmaker, it makes no sense to stay at 8 unless Peterson falls to 8, which he wont. Marshawn Lynch is the next best thing, who could really flourish with a solid OLine. Our OLine should be fine for the running game when everyone is healthy, but we still should draft for depth early. So with that in mind, we are going to trade back to the 15-19 range. Why there? Because Lynch should be available because all those teams already have an RB. I'll go with worst case scenario and that is we only get a 3rd rounder, even though I think we should get a 2nd.

1-Marshawn Lynch RB
2-Joe Staley/Tony Ugoh OT
3-Travarous Bain CB
3-Kareem Brown DT
4-Michael Johnson FS
5-Desmond Bishop LB
6-BPA OL
7-BPA K/P

I'm a little curious about Ugoh, some have him in the 1st, some have him in the 4th. He's big and raw, but he's played against top competition and has blocked for a very good running team. With Gaither entering into the draft, he should be there in the 2nd at least. Bain is a talented CB from a small school who could be a sleeper albeit 3rd round is high. Brown, Johnson, and Bishop are all value picks. Neither will knock your socks off with extreme talent, but they should all be future starters who may be able to step in right away.

Bain and Staley won't go that high.

If Lynch is your main target you probably can't trade back real far and make sure you still get him. I also don't like Tony Ugoh, way to stiff and slow for me although he is a pretty powerful run blocker. He's not a good fit for our scheme.

i'm not entirely convinced that he is.

The Texans will have to take that chance someday :)

almost 6-9 330 lbs he could be the next Orlando Pace this is the break the Texans have been looking for like divine intervention.

your right that no way he will be rated as the #8 prospect in the 2007 draft, however its two, three-10 years out that should be looked at. Katz you are a good scout, but leave the GM duties to someone who sees the big picture and can put the peices of the puzzle together (just kidding ;))

sincerely, Kubiak
