guys, im sad and id like to share my thoughts with u guys. u know the saying, misery loves company? well id like some company.

when i heard the news i was like "what?" what just happened? were not getting reggie? wow. wow. man, what happened, mario at 1?? jeeeezous
already? hes signed already? just shock.
after a while i was like 2-14 and we get williams. what happened to the BUSH bowl? was reggie asking for too much? what went wrong?
then i got a little angry again. first ragone, then babin, then pbuc, now reggie. how is this man still running this team. is bob mcnair an eedoit?
then i started thinking about the offense. the next excuse is gunna be carr still doesnt have any time. but we couldve had dbrick in a trade down. why didnt we get ANYTHING??? not even a 5?? id take a 5 if we could still get dbrick or aj hawk. we were supposed to have another weapon, we were supposed to be great.
then i started thinking about the titans. are they really that bad? i still luv mcnair, vince will help me get over this. he will make me happy. jump ship! thats what theyll say, im not a true texan fan theyll say. they dont understand. i am. i just dont like this feeling. maybe they just dont care as much as i do. it hurts. floyd reese isnt charlie casserly. david givens went there, chris hope went there, bud is spnding the money. he isnt that bad.
then i started thinking about the offense. still no line. carr isnt going to get the ball to them. why is casserly still here. why doesnt he ever do what hes supposed to.

im still devastated and now im rambling. guys im really depressed, just need a little support. if you could and want to, id like to hear some of your thoughts too. i hope we finally get it right and mario will help us forget the hurt as soon as possible.

You are a victim of media hype and have kooked out. Put the media hype aside and just look at it for what it is and you will realize it was a much, MUCH better pick than Bush would have been.

Its a sad day.

Hmm, lemme see. It's a sad day when the Texans fill a desperate need in regards to putting pressure on the passer instead of burning a #1 overall pick on a RB who would get limited touches because they already have a 1,000 yard rusher who catches passes just like Bush does. Well, if you're sad about that, then you must not be a Texans fan. Nothing wrong with that, but let's make that clear.

A bad day for us but probably a great day for liquor stores, bars and convience stores as I'm sure alcohol consumption went up by about 10fold in Houston as a result of this and will probably go up even more if the Texans make that stupid rumored trade with Chicago tommorow. LOL!!

Right, which is why they are targeting a back at the end of the 1st round.

The kid wasn't a dominant pass rusher at the collegiate level and now you somehow believe he is going to be at the NFL level? Let's talk about mid-way through the season...

HAHA el toro, funny stuff. Guys im sittin here with a Biopsychology book in front of me, my semester GPA hanging in the balance as my LAST FINAL EXAM is tomorrow at 4pm. I have much more pressing things at hand, but I can't stop thinking about my team, I'm not hurt/depressed/dejected so much as I am downright confused at our poor play of our hand. Could Williams not have been obtained at a lower pick? Could we not have made more out of this draft? If we are addressing needs why not address more than one and get a package including a, GASP, O-LINEMAN while we are at it. sigh

I tell ya'...it was a little shocking when I heard the news. But...for some reason, I immediately felt at peace with it as a Texans fan.

We pretty much knew Young wasn't an option when they re-signed Carr. So we thought we knew it was Bush, and then maybe Williams in the past week or so.

But some things have kind of bothered me about Bush in the last couple of days...his attitude ("guess I'll have to get used to losing") about going to the Texans...this unexplained rent thing with his family (which is still developing as of today)...the holdout for bigger money because he's the #1...not saying that I was holding anything against him, because I've been pretty excited about him coming here...but still..

so I don't know. I'm not dissin' Bush...but I'm starting to think of the possibilities of Williams....dude has been mentioned in the same breath as the legends...I'm not predicting here, but just allow yourself to think about it...imagine him blowing around the corner and slamming an enemy QB the ground...power...

I have some of that in the fridge. That should carry me on until morn.

I just finished mine off. Have a fresh supply of Coronas for tomorrow though.

I know alot of people here in in shock and awe just like i was. But as a Texan fan, i have to stick with them. Im now on the Mario Williams bandwagon. all of us should too.

Maybe Kubiak is so confident in his scheme that he believe he can make D.Davis and Morency his Bell and Anderson. Let's remember that they traded Portis for Bailey. Obviousley he believes just like shanahan he can make any rb good, and defense is what he wants.

Let's not forget Mario is a stud himself.

I was pretty shocked at the news; I thought we'd ultimately sign Bush. I'm still a little disappointed because he could be great with us, but like Double Barrel, I'm beginning to think of the possibilities with Mario and the force he could bring to our defense.

a little "Hair of the Dog Dave" Barleywine coming in at a whopping 29% ABV

I'm almost over it already :dangit: while I liked trading down and pushing the envelope its actually quite possibly the safest pick. now we can relax while the other teams knock themselves out in a feeding frenzy which is exactly how our new D-Line will react come next season

so we have a great defense now because we added Mario Williams?? :brickwall So,....I guess we will lose games 14-3 instead of 28-3 now and its all good? All you newly formed Mario bandwaggoners can spend the entire off season justifying this pick because it was a loser one. ESPN is reporting that the Texans didnt even see what it would take to sign Bush...that most negotiations were with Williams (obviously....)

Memo to the "true Texans fans"....

we are not DENVER.

just because THEY could field a good team with 2nd and 3rd round scrubs doesnt mean we can.

Mr. Kubiak doesnt make the Texans the new Broncos generation and it doesnt guarantee that just because we will "follow Denvers footprint" that we will have their success. The Texans "experts" blew it.... they didnt even trade down to get another pick .... Super Mario isnt worth a #1....nobody...NOBODY had him rated #1 overall. I think I remember hearing Mr. McNair saying that HIS job was to put people in the seats and fill the stadium....well, there damn well better be dollar beer and dollar dogs every Sunday. :superman: The "experts" in the front office just made what was to be an exciting season a mediocre one.

I think im just gonna have to trust Kubes on this one and hope it wasn't totally C.C.'s decision. I'll hope that they went over soo much tape of RB they found things they didn't need and new things that #9 brings to the table. I hope that they are willing to bet whats left of our reputation in the NFL that Mario will be a stud. I hope that there would somehow be a way that i could try to get some sleep tonight with all this drama! ahhh, you Texans are killing me!

You might want to stay away from the TV/radio as 3:30-4pm's getting into next-Texans pick territory.

I am an Orlando Magic fan as far as the NBA goes (let's just forego any talk of the T-Mac/Francis deal, thanks), and I remember two seasons ago having the number one pick overall.

It was down to two guys: Emeka Okafor and Dwight Howard as potential picks. 99% of the general public, the media, and the "experts" saw us taking Okafor. Okafor was the top player in the draft, he provided "instant offense and an instant upgrade" and seemed the most can't-miss. Howard showed promise and potential but was a much bigger gamble, and not the star of the two.

Sound familiar?

We drafted Howard, I was stunned when it happened. Since then, he's averaging over fifteen points and twelve boards per game this season, we finished on fire, and he's going to be a leader for us for years.

Okafor is solid at Charlotte, good for him.

Point of the story: wait and see. Many thought Orlando botched by passing on Okafor. We'll see how it pans out. Years from now, we may look back and feel foolish for ever thinking of taking Bush or Young. Be faithful in your team.

Because nobody accounted for Reggie Bush to be available. New Orleans didn't even meet with Reggie Bush.

Worst Day in Texans History - April 29, 2006.

Where will you be? Home, getting drunk in depression over the Texans front office being run by those monkeys on the careerbuilder commercials.

Once I sober up by Monday, I'll be calling the ticket office and seeking a refund for my season tickets. I can't take another 2-14 year, and that's what they're headed for.

No excuse for this pick. None at all. Mario got sacks in 16 of 36 games he played in at NC State. He got brought in as a contract diversion for Bush to sign for less. Now they sign him? What do they think they are proving??? That they are the biggest idiots in NFL draft history??? Mission accomplished.
