THE NFL DRAFTS UPDATED MOCK 3/26 (Texans Only)

Blake

MMQB
Projected Trade from NYJ. Texans receive #4 overall, #29 overall, and 2nd round pick in 2007. Jets receive #1 overall pick.

Reason: The Jets know they are going to have a tough year next year, and think Bush is worth getting, to try and be a winner in 2-3 years. The Texans are in love with Carr, but also think Young is too good for this team to miss on.

Note: Bush, Lienart, and Williams, go top 3.

RD1 #4: Vince Young, QB, Texas

Having Carr signed for 3 years gives them a year or two max, to let Young learn, and still have time to trade Carr for something valuable in return. They show alot of love for Carr, and other teams know it will take something to get the vet QB from Fresno St.

RD1 #29: Eric Winston, OT, Miami(FL)

Pitts is going to start LT, and while nobody is really happy with our overpriced Wade, Winston will battle for either bookend slot, as he is athletic enough for LT, and strong enough for RT. With Putzier, and Joppru coming back, along with Bruener, I felt that TE isnt as urgent as tackle.

RD2 #33: Darnell Bing S, U.S.C

Big bodied player, from a big time program. Big will give us another headhunter in the secondary. We need some help at safety, there is no doubt about that.

RD3 #65: Jason Avant, WR, Michigan

I have spend a good deal of time watching Avant, and the boys got hands. He makes acrobatic catches, and puts his body in harms way to make a play. Perfect counter part to Braylon last year. Will be able to compete for the 2nd WR slot. Also the release of Bradford, and Gaffney have made this pick important.

RD3 #66: Allen Zemaitis, CB, Penn St.

I like Faggins, Buchanon, and McKenzie as backups, and nickle backs. But this guy will start game 1, at CB opposite Dunta Robinson. Good size, smart, and a good tackler.

Day 2 explanation coming soon.

RD4 #97: Jerious Norwood, RB Mississippi St.

RD5 #129: David Thomas, TE, Texas

RD6 #161: Frostee Rucker, DE U.S.C

It is rumored that the Jets are looking to trade up to #2 with NO to assure them of Lienart. But it could all be just rumors.

Like I said it could all be rumors:

Saints | Loomis says no one has called him so far
Sun, 26 Mar 2006 05:17:25 -0800

Gary Myers, of the New York Daily News, reports New Orleans Saints general manager Mickey Loomis said he's not been approached by any team about trading with the Saints for their No. 2 NFL Draft pick. "It's way too early for that," he said. "I know we will get some calls. We've never been a team that has shied away from trading up, trading down or taking the pick. We're interested in listening and hearing from everyone involved. I know we'll hear from teams."

Nobody knows about trades. Its a throw in the dark. Anyone in the top 5 might get big time trades this year.

i wouldnt be happy if we passed on d'brick, mario, hawk, davis, huff for VY @4

Williams = Mario Williams. Sorry about that.

Davis = I dont think a TE is worth #4.

Huff = Are you kidding? Huff over Young?

D'Brick, and Hawk are the only 2 in your list that should be considered.

RD1 #4: Vince Young, QB, Texas- Do not like the pick at all, Would take D'Brick over Vince at 4 anyday...I also believe Mario Williams will be available at 4...Personally I dont think NY Jets will want to trade up to 1.

RD1 #29: Eric Winston, OT, Miami(FL)- Good pick at the end of round 1, If Brick isnt the pick this is a great selection...should step in at RT from day 1.

RD2 #33: Darnell Bing S, U.S.C- Waste of a selection IMO, Isnt he a SS as well...would much rather Ko Simpson, Donte Whitner, Daniel Bullocks

RD3 #65: Jason Avant, WR, Michigan- Ouch! He ran a 4.8 at his pro day...he did that with an arm injury so he may be a bit faster, has great hands but not at the top of round 3. Id want an MLB by this stage

RD3 #66: Allen Zemaitis, CB, Penn St.- Another slower than average player...would look CB here but not him.

RD4 #97: Jerious Norwood, RB Mississippi St.- Good pick with no Bush, especially this late

RD5 #129: David Thomas, TE, Texas- I dont think he will be effective with Putzier and if Joppru cracks the roster

RD6 #161: Frostee Rucker, DE U.S.C- Don't know much about him, but heard he is a little undersized...would be good depth at Weakside DE....Good pickup in the 7th.

Overall Id be quite dissapointed with the draft the way you had it shaking down...

no need to be sorry bout mario..i just missed that part

Davis is worth a #4 imo- hes a freak- a TE that runs a 4.38, great hands, strong, cut like a rock, works hard, excellent attitude, decent blocker.

Huff seems a bit like sean taylor to me..maybe not as big a hitter but an excellent coverage FS-which is also a need for us

sure these 2 players would probably be picked slightly lower but they would help us alot more than having 2 qbs....

im not a big fan of VY, but even guys who do like him, must admit he'd sit the 1st season def. and maybe even a 2nd

A year max. If Carr has a bad string of games, Young might come in. Carr will be gone after year 1, if we drafted Vince, and he showed promise.

Just so you know, there is more to a football player, than their 40 times.

Ya know, like attitude, work ethic, athleticism.

Agreed. You just named five locks and one chunk of the dice. Mind boggeling.
Not a big mario guy. But he's got everything for a high pick. Just me.
