The "My Guys" Thread

The draft is nearly upon us and it's time to have a simple place to dump out all the players that you just really like. For one reason or another.

Here's mine:
Taliese Fuaga
My favourite tackle in the class. Incredibly powerful, he bullies the bullies. I almost feel like he gets underrated because he gets called a "run blocker" because he absolutely destroys people in the run game but it carries a stigmatism that he's therefore not a great pass protector. He is. He bring an all around package with genuine A+ skills in certain categories. Also big ups to Trevor Sikkema who was the first one I heard talking about this guy during the year. He took over the PFF draft portion from Mike Renner (who I don't like at all) and while the PFF draft stuff will never be perfect Trevor is a big upgrade over Mike.

Bucky Irving
He's my Tank Dell of the draft. The dude just gets it and plays really well. The tape is excellent and the only real downsides are his listed weight and the fact he didn't put up amazing combine numbers - I don't care I'll take the tape all day.

Junior Colson
I feel like he gets super slept on with Cooper and Wilson getting all the attention. He's a classic Mike LB with all the skills for the position and is good in coverage. What's not to like?

Jordan Magee
Similar to Irving where the tape is actually really good, but the size and weight aren't what you necessarily want. Again, I don't care. The tape shows him playing the position better than the bigger guys.

Johnny Wilson
Maybe it's just the games I watched but every time I watched Florida State Johnny Wilson impressed me. He was always the one making something happen. I thought it would be the "contested catch god" Coleman that everyone was talking about (and was the reason I was watching Seminoles games early in the season) that would be the safety blanket and go to guy on third downs and tricky situations, but no, time and again it was Wilson. People say he should be a tight end but I don't really agree, he's a big slot all day every day for me.

Leonard Taylor III & Michael Hall Jr.
These two are much more Texans specific but I think what they bring and do well could be really maximized in Demeco's attack front defense.

Also random shoutout:
Laiatu Latu
Just felt like I had to add him because he's a great example of the overthinking I see sometimes around the draft and the prospects. This guy is an insanely good edge. He is edge #1 all day every day. If he's not I think you're overthinking it. Just like people were overthinking Will Anderson Jr. last year and how the Jags overthought Travon Walker over Aiden Hutchinson.

I'll keep mine within reach of the Texans.
Darius Robinson DL. Great run defender with that alpha dog mentality teams look for. Toolsy pass rusher. Athletic with long arms.
Tyler Nubin S. Explosive, physical enforcer with a strong tackling technique. A natural leader and communicator.
Edgerrin Cooper LB. One of the scariest defenders in this draft. Has elite athleticism as demonstrated by his sideline to sideline play. Captain of the defense. Also has a handy pass rush.
Kris Jenkins IDL. Strongest man in the draft. Stout against the run. Has a knack for making tackles with Olineman on him. Team captain.
Made Bruce Feldman's Freaks list at #6.
Blake Corum RB. Prolific TD scorer - best in the NCAAF. Has that nose for the end zone - he just gets it done.
Cedric Gray LB. Explosive, high motor player adept at the pass and run game. Excellent tackler with a very good pass rush.
Matt Goncalves T. A natural talent at tackle - at home on the left or right side. Team captain with competitive attitude. A steal this low down.
Isaac Guerendo RB. Ex WR with 4:33 speed. Is on an upward curve.
Tip Reiman TE. Athletic with a 4:64 at 270 pounds! Excellent in the run game and has good hands in the passing game. Impact player.
If we get a few of these in the draft, I'll be pretty excited.

Hehe, according to Nick Caserio this thread should have been labeled "The 'My Groups' Thread." :) I would pay a lot to witness the draft process both before and during the actual draft...unfortunately I don't think Nick would agree that I should be trusted to "protect the team."

Here’s a list of “my guys”. It’s more of a Texans centric versus overall, but I’d be happy if we drafted any of these players.

Max Melton CB- versatile CB that could play inside/outside. Can help in run support. Has ball skills.

Mike Sainristil CB- starting nickel with high football IQ. Leadership is unparalleled.

Qwan’tez Stiggers CB- developmental outside CB. Loose hips with natural play making abilities

Braden Fiske DT- high motor. Inside rusher that rarely lets OL get their hands on him.

Michael Hall Jr DT- nice length. Good inside rusher but needs to develop more at getting off blocks.

Fabian Lovett Sr DT- day 3 space eater with great size that can withstand double teams

Cole Bishop S- great tackler with the size and speed needed to cover TEs. Good route anticipation

Tyler Nubin S- projects as a long term starter. High football IQ with great anticipation.

Matt Goncalves OT- swing tackle with starting potential. Great leader and team captain

Walter Rouse OT- day 3 swing tackle option that performed well at the senior bowl. Good technique and lots of starting experience

Josh Cephus WR- day 3 WR with excellent hands. Inside/out flexibility

Your list and my list looks a lot alike.

I just wanted to say thanks for keeping up with the Prospect Tracker list. It's made keeping up with the guys easy.

Thanks.
