Ediddy73 said:Honestly, I know that this is the official Texans board, but 11 of you homers think that we are the most improved?
Who signed, Kearse and T.O. and stole a good OT in the draft, sent him to a nasal specialist who removed pollups from his nose so he can breathe now? Not us!!
Who signed Sapp, Kerry Collins, big Ted Washington, drafted the best OT to come out since Boselli? Not us!!
what did we exactly do that made us better than Philly or oakland?
...and if you rank the 3, we come in third IMO. What is Philly doing at CB now? Starting a rookie ( Matt Ware)? Gee, why does that sound so familiar? Would you trade Taylor and Vincent for Dhani Jones, TO, and Kearse? Washington, hey didn't he anchor a Super Bowl defensive line last year? Yeah, he's 37 but he was 36 last year and he got his ring last week. Oakland took the best football player in the draft at #2, exactly how does that count against them?DC_ROCK said:Who lost their two pro-bowl corners? Philly.
Who signed an over the hill DT? Oak. Who had the second pick in the draft? Oak.
Im not saying the Texans are the most improved. What I am saying is that Oakland and Philly are also not that team.

Remember that? What is there going to be a ****ing quiz before the season starts? Remember thatDC_ROCK said:oooh, so a rookie CB is a rookie CB is a rookie CB. Having two pro bowl corners, one on each side, made any offense afraid to throw the ball. Now a team can throw to either side against them.
NO!
Dhani Jones is a ok Linebacker, nothing special.
TO is a egotistical, whiner. Who will do more damage than he will help them.
And Kearse. He will help. For the first 3 games, before he breaks or tears something.
Just because you add three big name players, doesnt mean a thing. They have to produce.
Now this argument I have no problem with. Washington is a great addition.
I'm just saying that its not hard to improve this team from what it was last year. They had nowhere to go but up. And just because you think Gallery is the "best football player in the draft" doesnt mean that he is. Remember that.
Now this argument I have no problem with. Washington is a great addition
were you refering to the over the hill Sapp who is younger and has more upside than Washington, Or were you refering to Washington, whom you later tout as a great addition? Which exactly are you talking about double-talk?Who signed an over the hill DT? Oak.
then a week later you had this to say about Joe HornMeh. I think we have enought WR to suffice right now.
then about a week later you started your Antonio Bryant thread.........Sign him 2-3 years. Anymore would be a waste. To bad he will sign a 7 year deal with some **** team
and then...While anything can happen, do you really think teams like San Diego, and the 49ers have any chance?
you should really run for public office DC, you've got the wishy-washy mentality for it. Remember that. Even if you don't agree with me right now, that is fine. I am patient enough to wait for you to pull a complete 180 on a given subject as you are so apt to do.Yeah, they need some work. But dont sell them short.
Couch/Rattay throwing the pigskin to Cedrick Wilson, Curtis Conway, Brandon Lloyd, and Rashaun Woods, with Barlow running the ball.
Doesnt sound as bad as it is.

Ware is pushing Brown in mini-camp, but it is just mini-camp.TheOgre said:I thought Lito Sheppard (1st round pick in 2002) and Shelton Brown (2nd round pick in 2002) were starting for the Eagles at CB this season. Is that not accurate? http://www.ourlads.com/secure/depthchart.cfm?index1=phi
They both had a ton of p.t. last year. They may not be Vincent and Taylor in their primes, but I think they will do fine. They are already starting SS Michael Lewis (2nd round pick in 2002) from that draft class. I have a feeling they will do alright there.
that is exactly my point though Doug. Why even put a pool like this on the home team site and include the home team. We had a so-so draft IMO, and we signed 2 second tier FAs (Wade, Smith) and one third tier FA ( Bruenner). Based purely on potential alone, which is all you can go on since nary a snap has been played, Philly, Oak, and Minn have improved their line ups the most in FA. You can't count on any of the draft picks because none of them have played a single down of pro football.Doug said:Ediddy, you're bein just a bit harsh with your comments just because some people feel the texans were more improved because it's their home team....:
Philly I get. Sign the top offensive & defensive FA and you should get some offseason love. Hey, the Eagles only need a couple more wins at the end of the season and they're World Champs. But, what's so great about what the Raiders & Vikes did?Ediddy73 said:...Philly, Oak, and Minn have improved their line ups the most in FA.
Dexter Wynn was their 6th round pick Ogre. check this out Eagles rosterTheOgre said:I really don't think that the Eagles secondary will be that bad. Last year Lito Sheppard started 9 games because of injuries: http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/stats?statsId=5912
Sheldon Brown started 3 games and played enough to get 43 tackles:

I think their play last season was one of the reasons they let Taylor and Vincent go.
They drafted Ware and the other guys (Wynn?) because they need depth for nickel and dime packages.

Oakland signed a bunch of 30-somethings for a last hurrah? OK, they also pickup Collins, but they hold on to Gannon. Instant QB controversy and that can't be good. Don't forget the net gain aspect of FA as the Raiders lost Charlie Garner and 2 young FA starters in Rod Coleman and Eric Barton. Oh, and they made Norv Turner head coach. Let's print the playoff tickets. What Darth has done this offseason has left me underwhelmed.
Minnesota picked up a very good FA corner in Antoine Winfield. And that's about it. Will Winfield be enough to get Minny into the playoffs? Considering they were one deflected pass from hosting the Seahags last year, I'd say yes. But, I'd rather have both Wade & Smith than just Winfield.
So maybe the Texans "most improved" rankings aren't so out of whack after all?
