The Madden 2005 thread

If Rashaun Woods is an 77 and Brandon Llyod is an 80, AJ better be a somewhere near a 90.

Go to www.madden2005.com and check out some of the videos. Storyline central looks great.

I am getting the game on PC

I'm moist. Holy ****!!! Now I have to get the PS2 to play some of y'all online. My sorry GameCube can't do it. (One my lifes many REGRETS) I wonder if the storyline will show players legal problems. Like Carruth, The Lewis', Irvin. That would be funny. In a sad and disturbing kind of way.

Do you guys think they will give AJ a better rating then the 89 they gave Boldin???

Over/Under for Carr's rating = 84-1/2

Johnson should be at least the same as Boldin. And 84 for Carr seems to low in my mind.

On the last update, AJ's rating was 85...I think. He should be in the 86-88 range this year.

-And 84 for Carr seems to low in my mind.

IMO, I think it's too high. His stats weren't all that impressive. Carr should be in the 76-80 range.

I'm glad that they fixed the vick problem where people would pick a hail mary type play and scrabble for like 40 yards and the hit stick looks sweet.

hey, where can you get the ratings on the internet?
Look at the link from dmt...
They are going a division a day and they started with the NFC West, they will probably do the AFC West tomorrow and with our luck the AFC South will be last...

Got this from someone (I believe a moderator) on the maddenmania.com boards. I guess they get their copies early...

I think our D should be alittle higher but I guess they will prove themselfs this year. And when they do I'll just get a roster update and then superbowl here i come.

Redskins = most overrated team in Madden.

not to mention both the Panthers and Patriots defenses being 99. i dont see how the patriots or panthers defense is 9 points above the Ravens who in my opinion have a better D than the Panthers and are just as good as, if not better than, the Patriots defense.

How are the Jags rated that much higher than we are?
I knew they were going to be higher in defense and overall but by 8 points overall and 7 points offense?!?!?!

AJ is an 85 and played in 16 games last year with almost 1000 yards and 4 TDs

Guess what Charles Rogers is rated, remember he played in 5 games and had about 250 yards. 84!!!!!!!!!!! How is that possible?!?!?!?!

The Skins might be the most overrated team but Rogers is the most overrated player. And Roy Williams and Tai Streets are 83s....

pic14.jpg

I just can't believe Detroit is rated higher than us! We were rated 80 in Madden 2004. Well its gonna be fun when we stun the whole NFL this season.

Wow, does anybody that makes this game even like the Texans? To me, they think we arn't cable of doin anything. Always putting us low on anything, just can't wait till we stun everyone.

If you look at Madden 2004 rosters youll see that Rogers is rated 84 as a rookie, so was AJ. I guess they decided to keep Rogers the same sense they have nothing else to judge off of.

Oh and I think Carr should be at least an 87 because though he may not have the stats of an elite QB he has the arm strength, accuracy and he even has a little speed. His awareness or injury might be low, that would be the only thing to pull him down.

/\ double teaming a player should be more effective this year. I like to jam them at the line, then control one of my ILB's and double up.

Here's an excel spreadsheat that's much more convenient than flipping through each web page per team...

From: ShhDaGreggSpeaks
Nothing new here but I put all of the NFL ratings IGN has released in a neat Excel format. There's a spreadsheet for each team and one spreadsheet for the entire NFL. You can sort them by all of the categories (overall, speed, break tackles) for easy comparison instead of opening each individual team page. You can view it online in the link below. It may not be much help to some but I'm a statistics buff and love comparing things so it's money for me.

http://members.cox.net/gtabot/madden.xls

By the way I'll update the spreadsheet as more teams are released by IGN. I know theres gonna be another four today so I'll get that when it happens. Check it out guys.

Breaking News from ign.com

http://sports.ign.com/articles/536/536230p1.html?fromint=1

EA Sports announces online leagues for Madden.

And the good news is, I know a lot of gamers are concerned about having to pay for features, but this year, they're free. They're being paid by Dodge. So you'll be able to sign up, drop in your credit card number as another way to verify your identity, put in your name and register, and there's no cost to the user this year. We've gone out and signed a deal with Dodge where they're going to be providing everyone's subscription free of charge."

"The best analogy to this is the eBay Power Sellers. What we find is, right now, the EA Sports Nation is largely anonymous. Anyone can register a bogus e-mail address. We have guys with 500 personas on there. As a result, if you're losing and you pull the plug, and your DNF rating goes up, you just switch to another persona and it's no big deal. What we found is that the more we can get people to build up a single account, something that's backed by a validated e-mail address and backed by a validated credit card, the more seriously they're going to take the games being played on that account. That's the general concept.

We are pretty good on Defense
Payne - 87!!!!!
Walker and Coleman - 90
Glenn and Sharper - 94
Foreman - 86
Smith and Wong - 85 (I thought that Smith was going to be higher then Payne and maybe Walker)
D-Rob - 81
Peek and McCree - 77 (Peek has 80 speed!!!!)
Babin and Brown - 74

Steve McKinney is a 89 but Wiegert is only an 84 and Wade is only an 86. Wiegert and Wade should be higher then McKinney IMO....

Bradford and Gaff are both 80s

Glenn and D-Rob are both faster then AJ???

DD has 91 speed and Hollings 90.

Just noticed also that V. Duff, S. Thomas, and J. Lord didnt make the cut as well as a few others... like Anderson, Symons, and Orr

but its not like all the guys i mentioned are gonna actually make the team anyhow.

This is how the home team will look on the new Madden when it comes out.

2005 Texans

Oh and I just wanted to mention that the top two rookies in the game are Miamis Sean Taylor and Kellen Winslow, both are rated 85.

Cool! I heard that the game will be available Aug 9, for those who pre-ordered!
Where did you hear that???

And I too think Pitts is underrated....

I pre ordered it online at Gamestop.com, and it is scheduled to ship August 8th. Overnight shipping was free, and it should arrive the 9th of August.

I think they underrated Carr's speed. I guess you can't give everybody speed especially if they aren't supposed to be running.

It looks like our rookies are also underrated...

http://www.nfl.com/draft/drafttracker/round/round1

DeAngelo Hall - 37-inch vertical jump, - 90 jmp
Dunta Robinson - 36-inch vertical jump - 85 jmp
Larry Fitzgerald - 35½-inch vertical jump - 94 jmp

Terrel Suggs - 4.8 40 yard dash - 85 spd
Ernest Wilford - 4.43 in the 40-yard dash (indoor track) and 4.63 in the 40-yard dash (outdoors) - 85 spd
Jason Babin - 4.69 in the 40-yard dash - 76 spd

I've said it before and I'll say it again, people who make madden dont like the texans for some reason. To bad were are gonna suprise them all. :jam:

Hard to use combine numbers as an exact translation to madden ratings. Alot of players play differently then they clock at the combine, ya know? But agreed, sometimes some of our players don't seem to get a fair shake. Overall I think the numbers look pretty good though....

DDavis is ALOT faster than i expected (I expected 88 speed), his break tackle should be higher (78) Armstrong is also pretty fast (90)... Carr is way too slow (60, should be around 75)... other than that...

:headbang:

Heh, John's commentary has always been bland, so that's no surprise...

Did anyone here rumors about John working for ESPN Sunday night games in the near future?

One thing I have noticed about ESPN 2K5. Not alot of different plays to call. Too many big plays. I had 3 ints all returned for TD's last night playing the Ravens against the Eagles on the All-Pro level.

Wow is all I got to say about Madden. Love how in the new one, when the roof is open, there is a shade line down 1/4 of the field. When you get to the latter part of the game, the shade line is 1/2 of the field and the full south end zone. Sharper is a stud in the game. Same with Robaire. Glenn deflected 5 passes, and Robinson plays ok (got burned for a 50yrd play). DDavis is ok quick, breaks tackles alot. The crowd noise is almost too loud sometimes. Not as much commentary. Touchdowns are great, and the pan to the fans in the endzone is cool.
All and all an excellent game, 5 times better than last year.
Played one game, and beat San Diego 48-7.

I agree! Sharper is a stud.

Got it today and like it a lot so far. I'm terrible at Defense, and the hit stick has been useless for me at this point, but hopefully ill get the hang of it. I also seem to be much better at passing than running.
