I would not want to be in that position at all, it's got to be the hardest part of the job, and I can't remember a Texans team with harder cuts.

This is the strangest situation. DP wasn’t good last season or this preseason. In addition DeMeco is fond of stating that you play like you practice. Well which way is it? This is his third year so it’s fair to ask what his ceiling is because anything he did good was not done under this regime.
 
If they keep Pierce and cut Akers, it will be the first time I’m truly mad at DeMeco. I understand they have More data than we do as fans…but RB is a very easy position for fans to watch. You don’t have to be the ghost of George Halas to see which of the two is performing better. I hope DP is traded and if they can’t make it happen…he should either be released or at best kept as the 3rd or 4th back and play on ST.

If they keep Pierce over any other option, I will be truly mad at DeMeco. Practice reps aren't the same as game reps, even in the preseason. Teams don't tackle to the ground in practice. Trade him to a team that needs a power back or just cut him. I think he's such a good teammate that DeMeco and Caserio might be too invested in Pierce, ala Kubiak and Schaub.

Not necessarily. If a team has scouted and likes a certain player, they’ll make a trade proposal to make sure they’re the ones who get that player instead of having that player being free to be picked up by anyone.

Honestly though I’m not up to speed on how often that happens.
 
My interpretation of DeMeco’s answer to the DP question is they have seen enough to determine he is NOT a fit for this team, and they’ll act accordingly.

But maybe that’s just wishful thinking on my part.
 
I think DP stays. If he is the 3rd or 4th guy and primarily plays on teams,..I’m ok with it. Giving him another year IF he is making good contributions on ST…I can definitely live with that as long as Akers is kept and given the #2 spot.

But…if they keep DP but cut Akers…we have major issues. I’d also be upset if DP is the #2 back and Akers is 4th and buried and never plays.

Really don't agree.

All the guys that sat out are the guys that they deem as a lock to make the team.

If Pierce was deemed NOT fit he would have been cut and replaced with someone for them to have a look at.

Pierce is making the team and to be honest I fully expect him to be the #2 behind Mixon given everything the team has done and said about Pierce.

I really hope ur wrong about DP, but I have a feeling that you may be right.
I really hope that we havent turned into some organization where we are keeping people just b/c they like him in the locker room and on the practice field where tackling isnt allowed...he has shown time and time again that he DOES NOT FIT this system...and this is coming from a DP supporter...but his time in houston SHOULD have COME AND GONE...he doesnt have the vision or cut back ability for this scheme. His game is power and we dont play a power scheme and when we do he still doesnt hit the hole...he runs into the backs of his blockers.

If that's the case then my trust meter on their talent evaluation just dropped a little. I saw someone on here mention somewhere that DeMeco can't be falling in love with players. If they don't fit, you have to move on. Pierce does not fit. Time to move on.
