The Houston Texans are now on the clock.

Teddy Texan or Clowney. Depends on who the next HC is. I'd love to see Clowney and Watt on the same 4-3 DL. Would be pretty damn happy w Teddy Texan. RT would be the worst possibility IMO.
 
I'm fine with Clowney, Bridgewater or trade down. I'm also looking forward to who's stock rises in the offseason evaluations. Will Bortles show enough to warrant being the top pick? What about Manzel? Don't be surprised if it happens. Mathews? I expect him to fall between 8 and 15. but we will see. Anyway at least we can finally put this season behind us. Here's to a new and brighter future. :toast2:
 
Teddy. A good QB makes a world of difference. I don't think Clowney would be a game changer. He'd be a luxury.

I'd be concerned with Clowney's work ethic, he has Haynesworth type of bust potential due to lack of interest after a payday, but you got to gamble to win. I'd ***** a little but about it but be happy for either of these picks.

Would like to see the pick traded to get a lot of picks. Bridgewater us not a can't miss prospect to me.

This would be a BoB type move. Fired the native son/beloved aggie. Replace him with an Aggie QB/Native Texan. Think of the PR you get from that move.

Just proves what I said. Both have been overly criticized. Manzel more so than Clowney. If this had been Manzels first year he would be in the talk for number one overall.
 
If you don't like Bridgewater then fine. I disagree but it's not a big deal.

If you don't like Bridgewater but you do like Manziel then I'm speechless. Somebody needs to explain that one to me.

List the areas that Manziel is superior to Bridgewater.

For Heisman consideration I absolutely stand behind that statement. He had a great year statistically, but with regards to Heisman voting I felt like it was a flop.

I saw little improvement from his Heisman performance last year.

Over the last 2 seasons Tony Romo had games where he would start the game with 2-3 interceptions, the Cowboys would be playing from a huge deficit early and he would come back and throw 450 yards, 4 TDs, and 3 Picks.

When you don't watch the game and read the box score in the newspaper or online you say, "Woah, it wasn't his fault they lost, he played pretty damn good".

In reality, he cost them the game. When you go down 21-0 and the other team coasts to a "close" (on paper only) victory, you cost the game.

Heisman voters don't simply read box scores, they watch the games. Johnny had a great season if he wasn't a previous Heisman winner and on everybody's radar, but overall I felt that he had a disappointing second season with those regards.

And I'm sorry, but everyone can put up 50 points on Rice, I don't give a rats ass how a Heisman nominee plays against free wins on the schedule. I care about the games that are gonna define his and his team's BCS future.

Alabama, Ole Miss, Auburn, Mizzou, LSU. Compare those games to guys like Winston's marquee matchups (and try to remember the games, not just the box scores). I guess I'm a comedian.
 
I don't think trading back will be very easy this draft. There are no premier players to trade up to the #1 spot. I think we'll be stuck with the #1 pick and be forced to draft a player not worthy of the #1 overall.

Typical luck for Htown sports. Earn the 1st pick in a draft without Luck type talent.
 
The best coaches in the league all have good qb play helping them solidfy their tenure. So it goes without saying the incoming new coach is gonna want to get his guy to help solidfy his tenure. He's got a great chance to do that with the #1 overall pick....It's Teddy B...& it's not close imo.

I'd be okay with Clowney if we can find a veteran QB that is franchise-caliber. The odds of this are probably less now that they ended the season with a shot at the playoffs, but I would offer 2.01 to Pittsburgh for Roethlisberger and see if they bite.

Rams GM Les Snead has "made it clear" that the team is "open for business" regarding the No. 2 pick, according to The MMQB's Peter King.

"He’d like to get an extra first-rounder out of the deal if possible, and with a major bargaining chip like Jadeveon Clowney or Teddy Bridgewater," King writes. "There are going to be some teams that want to pick a quarterback," Snead added. "And that could increase the value of our pick. I have told people I’m not sure I know how to draft without multiple first-round picks, so I’m always going to be interested when it comes to making sure I can continue to do that." Snead landed quite the haul for the pick that allowed Washington to select Robert Griffin III, and many of those picks became defensive starters. We doubt he will get thew same value here, but it does not sound like the rams are looking at a quarterback that early in the draft.

I am hopeful this really increases a package for Texan's #1 as teams will be worried if someone will get that "next" QB if Houston does take Bridgewater. Interesting that on ESPN's mock neither guy has Browns taking QB at either spot. I wonder what Oakland could offer?

Are you kidding? AJ McCarron getting second place is more evidence that they only care about box scores and not actual play; a guy like McCarron was carried by his team but 'just wins' whereas Manziel (and Mike Evans, to a lesser extent) carried his team, but because of a terrible defense they can't be guaranteed wins, even when they drop as many as 42 points on the #1 team in the nation.

Three of those games saw Manziel's offense score in excess of thirty points while the defense allowed even more, and yet you blame Manziel? The LSU and Mizzou games can be attributed in part to his injury and playing good defenses (my alma mater, LSU, just seems to have Manziel's number; Death Valley isn't a fun place to play in for anyone but the Tigers), but even the Mizzou game was only decided by a touchdown.

Winston has played well this year, and earned the Heisman. To say that he outplayed Manziel is a little ridiculous when you look at who they play (FSU had an easier schedule than OSU, who was rightfully ridiculed for it) and their defense. Swap both teams' respective QBs and the result is probably similar.
