Here's the first overall picks from 1992 to 2005 as well:

2005 Alex Smith
2004 Eli Manning
2003 Carson Palmer
2002 David Carr
2001 Micheal Vick
2000 Courtney Brown
1999 Tim Couch
1998 Peyton Manning
1997 Orlando Pace
1996 Keyshawn Johnson
1995 Ki-Jana Carter
1994 Dan Wilkinson
1993 Drew Bledsoe
1992 Steve Emtman

There are quite a few busts in the #1 spot over that period of time. Does that mean there could be a number one overall pick curse? No, but it does mean that picking the best player in college football every season is sort of a crap shoot whether it be for the Heisman Trophy or for the #1 pick. Sometimes you strike gold, and sometimes you find a real dud.

Considering its (intended) purpose is to award the best collegiate football and not the player with the most pro potential, no...I don't believe there to be a curse that anybody should be concerned about.

The curse only applies to QBs........

Edit: Sorry, I got that wrong......... according to Google, it applies to all Heisman winners....

Vince Young can count his lucky stars he didn't win it.

Is Carson Palmer cursed because he won the Heisman? If he is then please give me the Heisman curse.

Can't put much stock into a curse if some players succeed & some players falter. The Curse of the Bambino wouldn't have been so interesting if the Red Sox had won the W.S. 3 or 4 times during the span between they traded him & when they finally won it in 2004. It was the fact that they'd gone with 0 World Series championships during that time that made it seem like a more plausible curse. If every Heisman winner went on to be a flop in the pros, or even if the last 30 Heisman winners went on to fall flat on their face then you could start calling it the Heisman curse. As it is now it's got no real merit, IMO.

A lot of the running backs have been pretty effective pro's.

Eddie George
Bo Jackson
Barry Sanders
Marcus Allen
Ricky Williams
Tony Dorsett
Earl Campbell
Herschel Walker
