The Guy You DONT want at 16.

DGB
Arik Armstead
Maxx Williams
Randy Gregory
Jalen Collins
Breshad Perriman

Of guys I've seen mocked at 16.

Why do you not want Armstead?

3. Armstead- Dont know about his love of the game.

This.

I can't seem to go a mention or two of Armstead without someone questioning his commitment. Could be just lead-up nonsense, but it's a little too much smoke to roll the dice on there not being fire. And when I watch this monster disappear in games it doesn't seem like to unfair a question.

I don't want an offensive skill player.

UNtil I'm satisfied at QB, I think it's a waste to stack the WR position. Without a really good passer, it doesn't make much sense to invest much into that position until we have a guy capable of utilizing a lot of weapons.

We need a replacement at RB for Foster, but not at the 16th spot. We can likely find a RB in round three or something like that.

Randy Gregory. He just might be available at 16, if GM's and coaches see the same thing I see.

TOTALLY AGREE!!!!

The guy(s) I don't want are OT Peat and DE/OLB Ray. Both Horribly over rated and will be bust IMO. I really don't like Beasley either because IMO he is a one trick pony. He is a pass rusher and that is it PERIOD! He is so bad against the run its not even funny. However you can't go wrong adding that kind of speed around Watt.

Did you ever watch the Vikings when they had Randy Moss, Chris Carter, & Robert Smith?

Or even the Eagles with Maclin, Jackson, & McCoy?

I'm not even going to list DGB because I don't think he's even on Houston's board.

1) Gurley - Injuries and after watching his tape I'm not liking his short area quickness; I also think his line made him look a bit better than he really is, though that isn't to say he's not a great prospect. Just not at 16th overall.

2) Malcom Brown - I don't think DT is a huge need at this point, and I'm not convinced Brown is 1st round talent

3) Kendricks - He's just too small to play ILB in Crennel's style of 3-4; he needs to be strong enough to take on NFL-quality guards. I don't think we're more desperate for an ILB to take a player like him 16th overall compared to another position. If CJ Mosley was in this draft or if Benardrick McKinney was a little less raw in coverage or if Anthony was 6'4, this is a different story.

Bonus) Any of the Lockett/Dorsett/Smith group; I want speed on the team, but those kinds of players can be found in the 2nd round. My focus on the 1st would be SOLB, with WR, C, DL/OL, and maybe RB making up the rest.

Crennel's ILB draft pick for Cleveland - 2nd D'Qwell Jackson 6' 230 lbs.

You're right, he wasn't a 1st round pick either. :kitten:

EDIT: I also went back and checked every linebacker pick a team Crennel was the current HC/DC of, and they were all at least 6'2, aside from D'Qwell.

So how many more TD's are we going to get if we draft a WR at 16 instead of in the second or third round?

How many more sacks are we going to get if we draft Brown to replace Crick?

But based on last year 1st rd 8.4 TDs, 2nd rd 2.8 TDs, 3rd rd 2 TDs. Wanna do yds and 1st downs also?

Difficult to say. Here is a list of last year's WRs that finished in the top 20 in TD catches and the range where they were selected in the draft:

1-15
Mike Evans
Calvin Johnson

16-50
Dez Bryant
Jordy Nelson
Odell Beckham
DeMaryius Thomas
Alshon Jeffrey
Jeremy Maclin
Kelvin Benjamin
Jordan Matthews

51+
Antonio Brown
Randall Cobb
Torrey Smith
Mike Wallace
Emmanual Sanders
Brandon Marshall
Terrance Williams
Martavis Bryant

Which list would you like to choose from?

Uh... you can get a guy like Ty Hilton in the 3rd, I'm sure Rick can do better if he's got OB guiding him.

I haven't really been able to dig in this year and learn as much about the various players as I'd like.

I'm in a kind of a "show me" state on this. I have stated that I don't want Gurley or Gordon in the first round, but that's more about the strategy than the actual players involved. I've stated I don't want Gregory, but that's more about the stupidity of the failed drug test at the combine.

But at this point, I find myself philosophical. Last year's draft seemed so good and yet turned out to be a big whiff. I'm just going to go along and see who we draft and try to get behind it. But even if I turn out loving every pick, I'm not sure that's a good thing.

:kubepalm:

Guy I do not want at #16, in addition to Shane Ray...

La'el Collins - LSU

LOL. What the hell is up with the build up to the draft??? Every year just tries to outdo itself on the previous year of Tom Foolery and craziness.

Shane ray or Gregory from Nebraska. Personally I don't care if they smoke weed but if they can't refrain and miss games due to suspension that shows they are not committed.

why would you not want the best offensive tackle in the draft?

I can think of about $15 million reasons. You may not like it but that's about the most committed position on our team.

You don't draft a 9 to replace an 8 over drafting an 8.9 to replace a 5.

So now you think Newton or Jones is an 8? Lol.

Jones is in this conversation since Collins has and can play Guard.

This exchange started with your question about why not draft the best OT.

At this point Jones is C not OG. X is set to be OG and he was the best OG prospect in the last draft.

For the record, I wouldn't mind one bit if the Texans took him in the 4th if he is available because of current circumstances. But the original question was at 16.
