TexansSeminole's January Mock

TexansSeminole

Hall of Fame
Round 1: Garett Bolles, T, Utah.

USC+v+Utah+fDyqUbNWVKal.jpg

Bolles is a bit under-experienced, but would be an upgrade over Newton or Clark at RT. Has the ability to be a LT in the future.

Round 2: Taylor Moton, T/G, Western Michigan.

I had an opportunity to watch his bowl game and since have watched some tape. I think Moton is one of those classic, "well atleast we got Moton" type players. He's strong as an ox and can move people. He may be best at guard, but he may be able to stay at right tackle, where he played in college.

Round 3: Nathan Peterman, QB, Pittsburgh.

6'2 225. This guy actually ran an offense similar to what we run here in Houston. Very run oriented. What he does that I am impressed with is his mid-range accuracy. He finds guys and makes throws in that intermediate area. He keeps chains moving. He won't wow you, but he'll keep the offense moving. He's good on the move and can make plays rolling out.

Round 4: Marquez White, CB/S, Florida State.

White has had an up and down college career. At times, he looks dominant. Other times, he's not as good. He's got length and man cover ability. He's a good choice for a nickel back early in his career, which is where I see him with the Texans, atleast in 2017. He would also be an interesting safety prospect, as he is a pretty good tackler and is aggressive.

Round 5: Elijah Lee, LB, Kansas State.

Athletic tackler, the kind of player we need opposite McKinney.

Round 6: Will Holden, T, Vanderbilt.

Could be a future starting LT. Adds depth right away. Started 2 seasons at LT and 1 at RT.

Round 7: DeAngelo Brown, DE/DT, Louisville.

Super strong at the point and can eat blockers.

Best mock I've seen so far. Attacks OL as we should, addresses QB, as we should, does not ignore defense as we shouldn't.

I'm not crazy about a 172 lb safety/corner. & I'd love to hear your thoughts on the RB position as it pertains to our team (do you think we are "set" at the position) & how it pertains to this draft (so deep we can expect to get what we need undrafted or no upgrades in this draft)?

I think that 172 number on White is an old number. I'd be surprised if it were accurate.

I'd love to get a RB, but I see too many must fill holes to justify taking one. I wouldn't be upset with a drafted RB, but it would have to be in conjunction with OL picks.

We still have Kenny Hillard on that futures contract. Maybe his game evolved some during the season and can finally steal Blue's job as the "thumper"?

Another great mock in the span of a few hours, thanks for keeping those of us who appreciate these hopeful & inspired.

Love your first round selection for this Texans franchise. Texans must add premier OT prospect now, exasperated by QB situation.

Moton would solve Texans revolving door @ RG. Excellent.

I'm down with a hard look amongst 2nd tier or development QB class. Funny he comes from Pitt to replace Savage, lol

Don't think Marquez White lasts until end of 4th, maybe Texans will be awarded a compensatory pick in 3rd. (See who leaves via free agency, maybe Bouye).

Like both your & Wolverine LB prospects.

Not hating the player just position after taking two starters already. Would like to see RB position addressed, might have to be small school this late but it's a great class this year & Texans do need better options after Miller.

Wanted DT DE earlier last year after Crick departure but Covington, Reeder & company really was a bright spot to me. Brown would have a tough battle cracking the 53 but who knows? Really like position you addresses here. Great work!!!

Any mock with Elijah Lee in it gets a like from me. Kid is a player.

Like the way you attacked O-Line. It's clearly a big issue.

Peterman is just a stop-gap IMO but if we can fix the OL, get the running game going, and maintain the defense then a stop-gap may be all we'll need.

Absolutely love this draft. You're hired!

I need to dig into White more and I honestly haven't watched Brown so I can't comment on him.

But I love the rest of this draft. In fact, all of those guys are among my favorite prospects in the draft.

Bolles is my favorite OT. Moton is probably my second favorite, and if he doesn't work out at RT he can slide in to RG.

Peterman might be my favorite QB in the class when you take into account what pick you'd have to use to land the guys that might be better than him.

Lee is one of my top three ILBs in this class.

Holden is a very underrated OT who I think can start in the NFL.

I'm blown away. Awesome job.

This is probably an indication that most of these guys won't be available where I mocked them.

Garrett Billed could very well end up as our R1 pock and I am fine and dandy with that.
I like Moton also, but of Dan Feeny at Guard is on the board I hope Texans grab him.
Personally I think Texans have to boost their offensive firepower just in case any qb that starts for us has problems moving the chains with his arm. I fully advocate a hammer that can catch in the backfield - he could also be used in the return game.
I'm talking about Alvin Kamara who has risen 57 places on cbssports.com.
Just those three alone would give our O a decent boost but of course it is all contingent on the qb.
Of they want a good one from the draft they may have to bite the bullet and get one in the first.

Pat Mahomes is ranked second by someone I read recently and if you wait for R2 to try to get him you might be disappointed.

I like the draft because it takes care of the OL and gets a good QB prospect also .

It addresses some depth and competition on defense which is always good .

Now it's time to talk about the sleeper . The Kansas State cheerleader with the hops and anticipation . She saw the play and read it while the others were flat footed .

To bad Fournette doesn't have a backup we can draft in the 6th round, we could all lock that pick in.

Remember BL, any compensatory picks this draft will be decided by last year's Free Agent gains and losses, not this year's. I'm not sure the Texans will get any compensatory picks this year since they picked up Brock, Allen, Bergstrom, and L.Miller while losing only Brooks, Ben Jones, and Crick. Could be a few others I missed but I think that's the bulk of it. I know it looks like the Texans were on the losing end of the stick and should deserve some compensatory picks, but that's not how the NFL figures it unfortunately. :D

I had completely forgotten that comp picks are awarded the year after the signings. Thanks for the reminder!

Not sure Senior bowl really helped your guys but then I didn't catch practices this year & that's when scouts hang out.... I think Bolles may surpass Ramczyk (injury concerns).

Really, really like OJ Howard. Would consider moving up four or five slots to select him. Give Brock a true safety blanket, go to guy underneath, then move him out top, break things open & gain some confidence or whatever the hell is holding Osweiler back!
