Texans vs Titans: Game Day Thread

John McClain is gonna be further up Vince's arse than he already is after todays game . I didn't get to see much of the game , I had family over today . It just doesn't sound good from this thread though . This sucks .

Lame ending.......seriously, why the hell do you just fall on the ball? Hit the damn thing, keep it alive. But that sums up the Texans.

That'd be a penalty, by the way.

He did the right thing or we might be looking at another TD by the Titans D to rub it into our faces.

Because Dayne(?) was wise enough to recognize the futility of the play. The only thing that could've possibly happened is, oh i dunno, a season-ending injury to Sage Rosenfels trying to block the Titans defenders from the lateral buffet.

We're watching Gary Kubiak morph into Dom Capers.

Can someone with photoshop skills get us a time progression of Gary's face being morphed into Dom's?

Pretty lame, GP. And you wonder why I get on your case sometimes.

This game was decided by Jacoby Jones and the Texans secondary. VY was just incidental to it all.

Someone file this thread away for the obligatory "ESPN doesn't give us our fair credit!" threads that'll pop up a few weeks before training camp beigins in 2008.

"We never get a fair shake with the analysts!"

Well, we are awful.

You CANNOT intetionally "bat" or "misdirect" the ball to keep it alive, or to gain an advantage.

This is basic Football 101.

Don't make me go and research it for you.

This is the rugby league fan in me coming out, but why the hell not?

What the h*** are you talking about? We've been playing with our back-up qb all game, on the road against a play-off contender. Our offensive line is clearly not good enough for playing from behind. Salaam is not a starting LT, and the amount of times KVB pressured our QB is a strong idicator of that. The only thing holding us back is individual mistakes. Jones' punt and droped third down. Salaam getting beat. Smith's crappy play call on third and long.
You say no heart, yet we've battled all game, aginst most odds, and we've made a game out of it when we could have easily folded in after the fumbled punt and TD... we're not that good, but we have not stopped fighting, so I dont know what game your watching.

I'm watching the game where the starting O-lineman let Schaub the gingerbread man get creamed and taken out of the game. I was watching the game where our great rookie special teams guy can't figure out when to call fair catch. I was watching the game where the defense let Vince Young run all up and down our ass as though he was actually an elite QB. I was watching that game where we played with a robotic quality and no intensity. Perhaps you and I were watching different games. You were probably watching that game where we were at least better than last year, which is the same game in which we could have been a lot worse. I could never watch that game for very long.

I guess that just depends on how the ref interprets it. If you jump on it and it pops out or you can't seem to grab it because it's wet outside maybe. But to just fall on it and lay there like a loser is lame. Damn atleast try and pick it up, it's the last play......who cares if they score another TD, the game is over.

nice chip block dayne. thank goodness for sunday ticket. can we please get some thugs on our team.

ummm... that's got to be the stupidest thing I've seen posted on this board.

Show me the "thugs" on the World Champion Colts. ...or the undefeated Patriots.

...I'll wait.

Seriously. Who the hell cares if they score another TD? That's the most loser thing I have ever heard someone say. **** we might as well take a knee on every down and hope our defense can score. It's the end of the game, we need to make a play, who the hell cares if they score another TD? What the hell kind of attitude is that?

since i'm here in austin.......what sux more than anything is that we hand-made a highlight reel for the bust-like QB vy. all the jockswingers here in austin probably have half a stock right nowand all us austin area texans fans can definetly kiss texans coverage goodbye for the rest of the year!

they don't need thugs. they know if someone takes out their qb on a cheap shot, it is time to retaliate. they know the "code". they have veterans that play the game. they instill fear in other teams. a thug is someone who initiates fear in someone else. it doesn't have to be a gang banging fool. who wants to go over the middle with rodney harrison or bob sanders back there.

i am tired of all these freakin teams here promoting "the good guys" as their marketing scheme. good guys are great if you don't want to win anything. this is professional sports, not the cyo. get us someone who can intimidate the opponet. Hell, Roger Clemens was a thug. I guarentee you didn't want your pitcher hitting one of his teammates because it was coming back at you.

how you like those apples?

At this point it's not about getting thugs on the team. It's about gettnig more guys like DeMeco, Andre, and Dunta. Guys who CARE enough if we win or lose to play with some emotion.

Aw, come off it!

You're just slamming me. Period.

Use your head, not your ego. We had ZERO chance to advance that ball, but we had every chance to goof it up and give it to a dlineman who would have cashed it in for a TD and a great little highlight clip for the networks to use to laugh at us.

You know what? You guys want to give JJ a free pass because he was trying to make a play, yet I see a guy at the end of the game trying to preserve some sort of dignity for YOU...and all you can do is ***** about it.

You can't do anything with a ball that deep into the backfield with the Titans just salivating to rub our faces in it.

Sorry guys, but I was OK with us falling on the ball.

Game was over. But if you want to puff you chest out and act like YOU would have returned it for a TD for us, then go ahead.

when you said "thug", I saw images of Michael Vick or Adam Jones or Chris Henry.

What you really want are enforcers.
All teams need those guys.

Like someone else said, the fact is we need more guys with HEART. Dunta - like I said last week, IS the heart & soul of this defense. Performance drops when he's not around because of the emotional charge he brings every play. DeMeco has big heart too but his isn't infectious as Dunta's seemed to be. I have no idea why because DeMeco brings it every play. But his emotion doesn't seem to translate to the rest of the team like Dunta's did. Who knows why.

Part of it, most of it, may be Richard Smith. Do you think our guys rally behind Smith like guys rally behind Dungy or Belichick.

This is a huge part of what's wrong with our team. Who cares how much they win by? You talk about ego. How is trying to make a play out of a bad play using your ego? If anything it is the other way around. YOU don't want to lose by 2 touchdowns, so let's quit on the play. FIGHT FOR THE GAME!

This isn't let's try and lose by the least amount of points. I WANT TO WIN A GAME. WHO THE F CARES HOW MUCH WE LOSE BY?

Who said anything about giving JJ a pass? We were talking about the last play of the game.

What are you talking about puff your chest out? Go sit down and cry or something you baby. THIS IS FOOTBALL. WE WANT TO WIN.

Is it possible? Yes. Is it probable? No. But try god damnit.

Quit watching the games or something. Your weakness is contagious to our Texans football team is seems.

P.S. "slamming you'? I didn't even look at the person who made the post. Just the content. But yea, I have ego issues.

Well, they lost again and here we go spending the next week sniping at them and each other.

Mike told us, they aren't "there" yet.

Matt Schaub just noted as dislocated shoulder on 610 with a "possiblity" to play again this year per Kubiak.

Da*n injuries and turnovers. I thought we played decent until the fumble. Dayne continued to show that he has something left in the tank, and we put some pressure on the QB. Extremely disappointed that we lost, but I point that to the da*n turnovers. For the life of me I cannot understand how they cannot hold on to the football.

Yeah, "years". It's been two years already, and only moderate improvement. You can't fix 5 years of horrible offseason decisions in 2 drafts.

True that. It just sucks that we couldn't get any wins against the tacks. Tough year. Hopefully we can finish on a high note.

Why bother? Keep the dude on the shelf until you have a line that can protect him. The LAST thing we need is another QB with great potential that we ruin with shellshock.

I don't think you'll have to worry about it, Young is a putz. I think that there is a better chance that he'll win the game for us than there is of him winning it for Tennessee.

Ouch!!!

Anyways, good game. Both of our young stars played very well today. Hate to see so many injuries.. I've read a lot of talk as to why you guys have had so many the past couple of years and all I have to add is that it just happens. In 2001, 2003-2005 we had tons of injuries. Sometimes nothing can be done to prevent them.

I know this isn't the case but Rosenfels would not be a bad stop-gap guy for you guys as long as he isn't long-term. If Schaub continues to be fragile he's a great guy to step in for a while.

Good luck the rest of the way.

It was a good game, I enjoyed it. Although I still think your defensive line intentionally tried to end Schaubs season today.

The Texans have trouble getting pressure with 5 rushers... so we rush 2 drop the other 9 in coverage and still let Eric Moulds pluck a first down. Rushing 3 is understandable, I can live with that, But 2??

Haha or Schaub is that much of a pansy. You can't be serious, though. Odom jumped on him.

It looked like he put his full weight on him trying to ram him face first into the ground. But your right, short of catching himself with his arms or rolling off of matts back after he starts to fall, there was nothing Antwan could do.
