Texans Vs Steelers Game Thread

Yeah, I can see those things making a big difference... seems we're making up for lost penalties and issues from our last game.

I wouldn't want to be a Texans player after this game cause you know Dom Capers is going to let them have it now and in practice. The wrath of a coach isn't good after a big loss. They just didn't show much discipline.

M. Bruener on 610

- hoping to see offense step it up a bit, but didn't happen
- we'll rebound and have a better showing in Denver
- contribute to offense any way he can

Ok, but you don't just curl up in a fetal position because you don't see a hole in front of you.
I dont think he crawled up into a fetal position, I just think that when you have 3 defensive players on you it makes it hard to run. The Steelers got penetration from the opposite side of the running play so there was somebody right behind Hollings before he was able to make a cut or do anything with the ball...

This is the exact same problem we had the last two years... not being able to play well in back to back games.
Last week we were nearly perfect, this week we were completely awful in all phases of the game.
We really need to learn to keep our intensity from week to week.

Yeah - can't wait to see the m. board after this game.

hey, cinci beating NE 31-3.... so it happens to all good teams in preseason. Don't lose the faith. :boxing:

Poor execution and effort all night long by the Texans.
Total domination by the Steelers.

Nothing good to say about this night. :thumbdown

Yikes! It's way past ugly now, and its become ugly's slightly irregular and overweight cousin who was a product of imbreeding. The whole team seemed out of it tonight. Are they sure they caught the flight to Pittsburgh? Who would've guessed the line would play this poorly with Weigert back in at RG? I know they'll turn it around, but it's a shame they couldn't even make an appearance in tonight's game. :thumbdown

Anyone think Salisbury's contender label might change after this game?

I agree, the o-line was sub-par tonight.

Well, one good thing tonight... I've made it out of rookie status.

30 Steeler 1st downs compared to 10 Texans. Nasty.

I don't think the first team offense looke that bad. In a real game they would have had a chance to build on the one good drive. And not to continue to dog Hollings, but a healthy Davis may have been able to pick up some more yards down at the end of the field.

Hey. at least the Astros scored 2 runs in the 9th to beat the Cubs tonight. :carrot:

Good News- Carr looks awesome. Wand and Pitts were fine. Babin and Robinson made rookie mistakes but also made plays. Starling could be a find in a year or two (probably going to be the 5th, i think)

Bad News- McKinney looked overmatched. Wade looked slow. Hollings looked indecisive. Peek is totally undisciplined! We need Seth Payne at NT! Ragone looks like a wasted 3rd round pick- I think I'd rather have Charles Hill back there!

Great News!- we play Denver in SIX days!!!

Here are the ugly pictures of what happend for those of you who haven't had them permanently burned into your skull yet.

Even better in real life...I lived in Midland during that season. Midland High was the one that got robbed by the coin toss. I hate Permian!
Sorry but.... HA HA
That might be the stupidest rule in High School football history...

Yeah it sucked. 9-1 and we stayed home. Now teams make the playoffs with losing records. Stupid.

I said it during halftime and I'll say it again, "If were going to lose I hope we lose big so these guys will come charging out of the gate and be super motinvated at camp this week". After the cowboys blowout I think our players and us fans got big heads and over confident. How many people thought playoffs here we come, be honest. Now we got a beating and got knocked back down to earth and thats not a bad thing its a good thing. It will teach our young players to stay focused. This *** kicking is only going to motivate us and make us a better team. Can't wait to see how they rebound next week. Seeing how this team deals with adversity is going to be a good test on how this team is actually progressing in improvement.

John Clayton on 610 halftime said Carr looks amazing and that we are a playoff team in 05 and could challenge for a spot this year.

Not ground breaking stuff, but its good to see Carr getting some love. I think, especially for a number one overall he has gotten almost no attention. I remember Tim Couch getting alot more.

Even now it seems Harrington gets more press than Carr. I have a feeling thats about to change.

the difference is that Tim Couch was getting negative attention.

the difference is, that Carr plays in Houston which gets no media attention. Think about it when the Rockets were winning back to back championships SI didnt even want to make a special issue about the team. If Yao played for any other team he would be a mega star by now and nobody would be questioning his toughness. Remember all the media coverage Tmac got playing in Orlando, I bet he gets half that playing in Houston. I swear for such a big city we really get the shaft as for as media attention goes. Its like the only city they think thats in texas is Dallas

I think were gonna finish 7-9. Were still inconsistent, but we will play better this year. Babin and Robinson will go through learning experiences this year. Cowboys are horrible, thats all last week proved. They looked sloppy today ( besides the quarterback play and J.Jones havin a good game). Still won, but diden't play too well. Played better than they did against us but I still see them goin 6-10 this year. I think Vinny will go down and Henson will be throwin into the fire and have his ups and downs.

But back to the Texans, seein Andre drop the easy catch makes me think if were gonna have a repeat of last season with him. Prolly not but he'll prolly always be a guy that drops easy catches (like T.O.), but still be really good. I diden't like our run blocking today, Pittsburgh is a tough run defense but our blocking sucked too so it made it even worse. Im glad to see Carr still getting a high percentage of completions, I think he will be in the 60's this year. I just hope for less INT's. I miss D.D. runnin though, Hollings can't break tackles like he does. Babin doesen't look over powerful or really good, he just looks like he has a non-stop motor, which is good. Should of had a sack today, Ben knew he was bein sack and flopped it at the last second, thats bs. But oh well, I think were improving, and now its time to start glueing together.

im just gonna throw this out there, but ive kind of got the impression that the offensive line is better suited to take on a 4-3 defense rather than a strong 3-4. not real sure what the problem today was - but it was real hard to keep watching the game after seeing all those runs.

peek is a good pass rusher, but he did mess up several times, that can be fixed. the same for babin - played good, but got caught up several times. all can be worked on...

carr - boy this guy is awesome, with our receivers - they will make him look even better.

i was a little dissapointed that ragone didnt throw deep too, he has a GREAT deep ball.

oh yeah - WHEN THE RECEIVERS HEAD IS TURNED ALL THE WAY AROUND AND THE DEFENDERS HAND IS ON THE FACEMASK - IT IS CALLED A FREAKIN FACEMASK (the personal foul one)!!!! :thumbdown

Wonder if this is a facemask?

Well, that one is. But if you completely turn the helmet around while tackling so it faces the players rear shoulder pad - that's not. (Per the Pittsburgh preseason refs anyway.)
