Texans Vs Steelers Game Thread

can only hold it so long Banks....

flip side - Starling is getting some action.... 5th WR?!?!

Not worried about the offense. The first two drives were deep on their own end and the third drive Carr looked good.

The defense....how can that be the same one we saw last week. Hope to see them come out with fire next week in Denver.

The front 7 on defense looked horrible. I was impressed again with the two early tackles Robinson had on Bettis. He gave him a good pop on the second one.

G. Walker on 610...

- Wanted to prove they can win on the road, didn't happen here.
- just some missed assignments, easily correctable
- gotta check out the film and just improve upon it.

At least we are getting a good look at the kickoff return unit this week

Last week we had a better look at the punt return team.

So, whatcha think? Hollings just doesn't have "it" yet, or the O-line is not giving him the chance? (understandable 2nd team is in)

WOW - Hollings just got popped

There has been no holes for Hollings to run through the entire day...

refs confer... "dunno what you wanna call on the Texans"
"hmmm... maybe it wasn't the Texans"
"you mean, maybe the Steelers"
"yeah, tell ya what - let's just pick up the flag and say no flag"
"sounds good"

Thanks for that Fiddy, I needed some "feel good" about Hollings... though now I worry about the O-line

but he's not exactly hitting the line of scrimmage with authority. He looks timid....kind of Wells-ish.

not trying to be negative on Hollings, I understand the situation late in a preseason game, but I don't see anything that makes me forget about Davis.

Where is he suppose to run, into the back of his own man???

Yikes... that's kinda what I was thinking. He'll turn it.

refs discuss....

"okay, this time we got the Texans... face mask"
" really? wow that's a good one"
" I know, glad they didn't challenge when we missed the Texans one"

yeesh TD Pitts.... it's officially ugly.

Well, sometimes yes. I don't know if he's so concerned about coughing it up, but he looks like he's almost going down before they even touch him. Where's the burst of speed to get to the holes before they close up, or the power to bust through one after it has. I didn't see it tonight.

TD Steelers...Willie Parker. :headbang:

Alright mulpwr... since you appear to be the voice of the Steelers... what changed between last week and this week for y'all to turn it around?

Hollings leaving the field, holding his left side.

Bummer, but he might as well give it up for the night. BTW, the Steelers have FOUR RBs with at least triple the yards of Hollings each, and none of them had as many carries.

We're going to end up giving up over 200 YARDS ON THE GROUND.

idonno:

he doesnt have the burst of speed to get to the holes because there werent any holes. The Steelers know excatly where the Texans are running it....

andre Ware called this one ahead of time.

Radio broadcast says they are looking at his ribs. Nice move not taking him out late in a blowout when 1st and 3rd guys are already out hurt.

We didn't have 3 of the starters in the secondary last week. Plus fumbling at the goal line and missing two field goals didn't help.

Kinda back and forth on this one... haven't seen much of Hollings to date but yet they're gonna see more of the starts after this game.... gotta see Hollings sometime. But do agree - play smart (and Ragone didn't help)

Yeah he was in the game to long i thought. :thumbdown

had to be. Wells and Anderson were out. They didn't want one of the newbies in there getting the QB killed on a blitz.

Yeah, I can see those things making a big difference... seems we're making up for lost penalties and issues from our last game.

this is a sad quarter, but many of these folks on both sides will be out of the league in a few weeks. I guess that's some consolation--or it would be if our first team had showed up.

:dontknowa

Ok, but you don't just curl up in a fetal position because you don't see a hole in front of you.

I like Hollings, I just think he was afraid to fumble the ball again.

to give Hollings credit, I don't think his strength is running it up the gut. That's why I think he and Davis make a nice combo.

This is the exact same problem we had the last two years... not being able to play well in back to back games.
Last week we were nearly perfect, this week we were completely awful in all phases of the game.
We really need to learn to keep our intensity from week to week.
