Texans VS Miami, and the refs…

If they would just be the team that we all wanted them to be this year there is no team leading up to the playoffs that would stop them.

KC like the others are beatable. The Ravens have always made me nervous though.

Unfortunately, I don't expect to wake up in an alternate universe where the Texans live up to expectations and hopes... but... a man can hope the bye was used to collectively pull their heads from their backsides... I'm not holding my breath though.

Or maybe, just maybe…..
Bills lose to the Lions and the Pats or Jets upset them. They finish 11-5. Texans finish 11-5 we hold tiebreaker I think over the Bills.

Damn, these Old Fashioneds are good!!

Never can tell with division games... stranger things have happened

Our secondary has looked "decent" in games with questionable offenses. It will be interesting how they hold up to Miami.

Tua Tagovailoa: A run of wins would be more special than completion percentage record
By Josh Alper
Published December 12, 2024 07:00 AM

Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa heads into Week 15 with the highest completion percentage in the league and one of the highest single-season completion percentages of all time.

Tagovailoa has completed 73.8 percent of his passes this season and former Saints quarterback Drew Brees is the only quarterback in NFL history with a higher percentage for a single season. Brees completed 74.4 percent of his passes in 2018 and 74.3 percent of his passes in 2019.

With four games left, there’s a chance that Tagovailoa could wind up with a higher mark than Brees managed in those seasons, but he said at a Wednesday press conference that it isn’t something that takes precedence over trying for a winning streak that could push the Dolphins into the playoffs.

“To surpass any record in the NFL, I think is an accomplishment in itself,” Tagovailoa said, via a transcript from the team.

“You’re talking about legends, Hall of Famers in the past that have played this game. You’re talking about future legends, future Hall of Famers that are playing now in this game. That would mean a lot, but I think for us, right now, just trying to keep the main goal, the main goal and to find a win this Sunday and go on a run that we’ve been talking about in that locker room as a team, that would be a little more special than any other record I would say.”

Tagovailoa completed over 80 percent of his passes against the Packers on Thanksgiving, but the Dolphins lost. He was 10 percentage points lower against the Jets last Sunday, but the Dolphins won and that’s a trade the quarterback says he’ll make every time.
I think the dinks are going to kill us. Hope I’m wrong..

Dolphins at Texans: Predictions, picks, odds for NFL Week 15 game

After Miami Dolphins’ quarterback Tua Tagovailoa suffered a concussion early in the season, the Dolphins struggled to get anything going early on. Many fans believed their slow start had doomed them to another forgettable season, and that was only bolstered by star receiver Tyreek Hill’s lackluster production.

However, the Fins have turned things around as of late. They’ve been one of the most dominant teams in the league the last few weeks and in Week 15, they’ll have the opportunity to strut their stuff against another contender, the Houston Texans.

Although Texans’ quarterback C.J. Stroud has taken a bit of a step back from his rookie season, that hasn’t stopped the Texans from dominating the AFC South. With four weeks left to play, they’ve all but wrapped up a playoff spot. As we know, they can be one of the most dangerous teams in the NFL when they get going.

Beckham played 20% of snaps in 9 games for Dolphins. He has not had a 1000 yard season since 2019. Not sure if he’s actually thinking he should be getting more playing time or just hoping a team in better position for a Super Bowl run will sign him for a cheap ring like the Rams did.

Ravens have the worst passing defense in the league while the Chargers are pretty good. Chargers have the best scoring defense in the league while the Ravens are 9th worst in the league. We'll have faced the Ravens just a few short weeks prior to the playoffs and the Chargers not this year. All signs point to Ravens being the better matchup. Broncos are still in the picture also

I get the numbers...but you aren't accounting for the meat grinder that is the tandem of Henry and Jackson. We aren't very stout up the middle. Less so with Pitre (and for Azeez) out.

We'll be run over like a Mack truck! Outside of last year, Henry repeatedly took this team to his personal wood shed and dismembered our bodies like a cereal (lucky charms) killer!

Give me more of a pocket passer. I will take my chances with our secondary as long as our top two are healthy.

So..... "borrow" the blue jerseys from UH and maybe he forgets which team he is on?

Same ole same ole with Derrick Henry, he can be stopped but you have to get to him before he builds up momentum. Even still, the Ravens physicality gives us problems on both sides of the ball.

O-line formation for the game will apparently be:

Tunsil
Howard
Patterson
Mason
Fisher

I hate Howard at guard, but I hope he can just hold his own.
I like the idea of getting Fisher to start at RT late in his rookie season more than I hate the idea of Howard at LG.

And looking at the Texan’s cap space for future seasons, we’d better hope Fisher proves we can cut Tytus sooner rather than later if we want to retain Stroud in a few years plus some of the other expensive FA talent this team is relying on.

I'm with Welsh Texan. I want to get a good look at Fisher at RT. I have thought he was a RT from jump, but so far he has only played LT. If he plays there 2 games plus...that should go a good ways in eval for next year. Can he supplant Howard at RT in 2025? This set of games will likely tell us if he has a good chance to do that.

I'm not wild about Howard at LG. He wasn't much better than any other option we've seen this year, and it reeks a bit of desperation, but he's probably the best of a bad set of options at this time. The IOL is still a major weakness.

Let's roll and see what happens tomorrow.

A post June 1st cut of Howard would save $14.5 million in cap space

I'm licking my chops @ salary cap space created by a post June cut in 2025. Signing Trey Smith in FA for LG at then 26 yoa would anchor that position for half a decade. Chiefs next season have over 20 million minimum to use but several players to address.

I would rather see Howard at left guard than green and his shoulder harness. I do agree your post.

I guess we get to see if Howard can save his roster spot at LG and the same should be Mason at RG. If Howard and Mason are shown the door after June 1st, that would be 23.7M in cap savings. Texans really need a new OL Coach who has an eye for talent that fits his scheme.

If Slowick can come up with an adequate passing game plan, we wouldn't need to be as concerned with run blocking
It's generally easier for an OL to run block than pass block. The Texans have repeatedly proven that they aren't capable of anything close to adequate pass blocking. No OC can come up with an adequate passing game plan with a turnstile OL.

Yet this oline was selected for PB skills other than Kenyon and I still don't know why he was drafted. Also they went out and signed Stefon Diggs and extended Collins. Tank and Metchie brought in with a passion catching Mixon.

Demeco, McDaniels and Cal chopping it up early, are they recruiting him here to be OC if he gets fired in Miami? That would be awesome

Miami is playing to the level we all expected them to be playing at before the season started while the Texans are playing to a level lower than expected. I believe the Dolphins are the better team right now and the Texans will not only need to get some breaks to win, they need CJ to step it up. Tua is on fire and CJ has been playing inconsistently. Everything is off about him this year. He's been inaccurate at times even when he's had a clean pocket to work from.
