Why is that important? There are many pro athletes, including many Texans players, that 'get it' in terms of what they put out in the public domain. But there are others, including a few Texans players, that should think before they tweet - whether their account is protected or not. Let's leave it at that.
As far as those who seem to get it:
Ben Tate was in Santa Monica, California with more than 30 other NFL rookies for the 2010 NFL Players Rookie Premiere. Tate, (@BenTateRB) on Twitter, went bowling with the guys last night so I guess that hammy that kept him on the sideline for the the first set of OTAs must be feeling better.
Steve Slaton (@Steve20Slaton) made an appearance at the SportsMart in Charleston, West Virginia. Slaton signed autographs and posed for pictures with nearly 200 WVU fans. Slaton said "these are the most loyal fans I'll ever have in my lifetime." Well then ...
Dom Barber (@34dombarber) and Kasey Studdard went to VY's "bday bash" (hopefully TMZ wasn't there and they kept their shirts on). Barber balanced out his weekend by attending a baby shower and a "Charlie Brown musical." [this is a great example of how to manage your significant other's emotional bank account]
Owen Daniels (@owendaniels) was in Boston with his family for his sister's law school graduation.
Connor Barwin (@ConnorBarwinCo) and Jesse Nading (@jessenading) played ping pong.
And last but certainly not least, James Casey (@jamescasey86) finished reading "Who Will Cry When You Die?" by Robin Sharma, and was asking for suggestions on what to read next. We need to pit Casey and Amobi Okoye against each other in a game of Jeopardy! or something.
If you're new to all of this and looking for a couple of Texans players to follow, I'd suggest Eric Winston (@ericwinston) and David Anderson (@whiteout89). Those are two more guys who seem to get how social media sites can be used in an open, fun, and positive way.
