Texans Talk Pickem - 2009

I'm not going to sugar coat it. I sucked this week. No excuses. I had 15 confidence points on Green Bay, 13 on Pit, 12 on Tampa Bay, 7 for Tennessee (glad they got beat), 5 for NE, & 2 for Dallas. That's 54 points I missed out on. Inexcusable.

Those 15 confidence pts I put on the Texans are feeling pretty good right now.:glasshalffull:

I find my own lack of faith disturbing.

But its the best 8 confidence points I'll have blown all season.

I look decent thus far this week, but will probably drop like a stone in the ranks after tonight's game.

I had 15 points on Tennessee, I call it like I see it. I'd gladly drop 15 in a Houston game week after week if it meant Houston winning...... gladly I tell ya!! :smiliedance:

I maintained fifth, but this week was more like a typical week one than week two.

KD gets the yellow jersey as Week 2 winner with 96 points. Considering the Week 2 schedule, nice score.

ObsiWan rules the hill with 209 total.

Nice job, you two! :kingkong:

I dropped 9 on the Titans myself. If it means we win, I'll do it again in a heartbeat.

Tell you what, I don't see any gimmies in week 3.
Not even the 'Skins/Lions game.

Thanks! ShowTime! This prosperity probably won't last

....but I have a question...
Why does my individual score say 99 but the "Weekly Performance" say 88??

I'm showing Week 1) 121........Week 2) 88......Total 209

To answer where the "99" is I don't know

OH!: I may have posted too early, looks like the MNF game hasn't tallied yet, and with 11 and Spec doing 14, my post is bogus. You have 99 for the week as best as I can tell, but it hasen't been added to the final totals after week 2.

Good job, and no disrespect to Spec? :hides:

Actually, the winner for the week is texasguy346 with 104 points. ObsiWan is the overall leader with 220 points.

If you dropped this week...don't get discouraged. This is a game that lasts all season long. I didn't participate in week 1 last year...and I still managed to finish in the top 10...

Congrats to the 2 above. And for the rest of us...we need to make better picks this week!!!

Good Luck!

This week worries me. There are no clear cut locks.
I even have my doubts that Washington will beat Detroit.

I would say the Eagles @ home vs. Kansas City, Baltimore @ home vs. Cleveland, and Green Bay vs. St Louis are all locks. I don't see KC or Cleveland winning on the road against either the Eagles or Ravens. I don't see the Packers losing two straight against teams they should have destroyed.

The Ravens over the Browns is about the only one I'll give you. That'll likely be everyone's 16-pointer this week.

Philly over KC..? I dunno. The Chefs put up 24 points on the Ravens defens... IN Baltimore. They barely lost to the Raydahs in the last two minutes. And McNabb is still out. You're probably right, the E-Gals will probably win - but I wouldn't call Philly w/o McNabb a lock.

I dunno about GB. They're as schizo as we are. They lost to the Bungles in Lambeau. They only beat the Bears because Cutler stunk it up to the tune of 4 INTs. And this is the Rams' home opener. GB probably wins, but I wouldn't call it a lock.

This could be a weird week.
I just hope we don't get bit by the weirdness.

They in. But I ain't very confident. I think I drop a few spots this week. I'm only up by one point over :specnatz:(SpecNatz - how did you get your own smiley anyhow?) as it is...

I had those games as my 16, 15 & 14 in confidence points. All three games were blow-outs. I understand the 'any given sunday', but I just didn't see any of those teams losing this week.

Well, I used double digit CPs on those three games too. I was just nervous about it. I wish I had played my hunch about the Lions for more than 1 pt. lol

I didn't go with the Lions just because I wanted to see them win one first. I had the Bengals getting beat with high confidence points for the 2nd week in a row. Only 3 people picked them to win the past two weeks. I would assume almost everyone will pick them next week against Cleveland.

My thinking as well. Whew I took a bath this week. :gun:

I think Vinny takes firm hold of the lead this week.

I would if this was all about picking winners. Kinda frustrating to have the least wrong picks with only 9 wrong for the season and be tied for 12th place with a guy who has 17 wrong picks....not that there is anything wrong with that

Well that Detroit upset cost you big time. If I had any brass ones, I'd have put more pts on them.
If I had any sense, I wouldn't have plunked double digits on the Schizos
...err, I mean Texans
:)

We both have the same record going into week 4. The difference? You're in 2nd, I'm in 21st. :foottap:

yep... But in a couple of weeks or so that could be reversed. I could very well be in the middle of the pack looking up at you and Vinny
this little game is all about who ya put yer "money" on.

I got my picks done, I took about 3 upsets or so, i got to do something to gain some ground, it's great having a really good record and all but I am not climbing the leaderboard so I tried to get creative a little bit, hope it doesn't bite me in the a double s.

Imagine how frustrated you will be when that guy passes you. :)

Hey guys...don't forget to get your picks in this weekend! Still lots and lots of time left...and the leader is not very far ahead.

I dropped a 7 on the Texans winning...I am scared to death that this is too many points. It all depends on which caliber defense shows up...NFL or High School.

Fingers Crossed!

I dropped a '1' on them winning. I've been wrong about every Texan game so far, so maybe I should put a 1 on them losing?

Texans have burned me for 32 points so far through 3 weeks (14,8,10)

here is for 13 more for this weeks win

I am taking Green Bay over Minnesota, they are on the road but I think Favre will try and do too much and I think Aaron Rodgers makes a statement, that's my upset pick.

Wolf, as far as our boys go, I put a 5 spot on them to win so I am not quite as brave as you good sir.

you guys are nuts. I'm picking Oakland. Every time I pick us to win, we don't. So, hopefully, I'm taking one for the team.
...well, okay "3".
:D

And that Minnesota / GB game is a pick 'em IMHO. If Rodgers gets hot, he can torch Minn. But if A.P. gets going... look out. At the risk of agreeing with Sterling Sharpe, it's A.P. vs A.R.; Favre should be a back story.

What happened to SpecNatz?

I figured him to take the overall lead today. Looks like he didn't even get his picks in
'Sup wit dat?

I chickened out yesterday morning and switched back to Minnesota on this one. If they win I will be 12-2 for the week.

I saw that too...I was shocked he bailed this week...he can still be competitive if he comes back this week...and he needs to drop a 16 on tonights winner...
