Texans Schedule Thread

I love how the bye will allow us to rest up right before we host Tenn then Indy, then we take on Jax on the road, but they are our *****. I dont see alot wrong with it.

Yup, its a good time to get a rest!

Glad we've got the Tacks on MNF, should be a good place to show them up, and hopefully keep whatever roll we've got going. Will they be wearing Oilers jerseys for that?

Haha that would make for an awesome grudge matchup but I believe there are special 'AFL' games against other 'original' AFL teams in which they will be worn. Interesting thought though.

I like the look of the Schedule, Titans on the road in week 2 could really set up our season with a W there.

First thoughts.

I really think the league tried to make-up for what they put us through last season (though not totally their fault). We can easily be 6-1, 5-2 by Week 8, and the Buffalo game in Week 8 is going to be very dependent on weather. Patriots in the last week, they might have a spot clinched already, might rest a few players, you never know. Gave us a bye before arguably our biggest game of the year, followed by Indy and then Jax, allows us to fix anything that needs fixing in the most important stretch of the season.

I like the look of this schedule, and am really hoping we have a good draft. It looks like we could be having a lot of fun this year.

The back to back road games in Wk 8 against the Bills and Wk 9 against the Colts could be a stumbling block heading into the bye week. The opener should be fun against the Jets and Rex Ryan's defense.

With this schedule, I don't see a single reason why we can't be 16-0 in the regular season and undefeated in the playoffs. SuperBowl here we come :fans::dance3::kingkong:

1st thaughts

love the start of the season,,, love the 2 monday nighters includeing *preseason *

but i hate 11-17 if matt schaub gos down no we might as well give up =d

stay healthy schaub andra mario and slaton danials....want me 2 continue?

I like this schedule upon first glance - spacing of divisional games in clusters, the late bye week, no potential weather issues and potentially playing three games late, with teams that could be playing for nothing.

What concerns me is that Cardinals game, given that we will have not faced a pass oriented team before we play them.

I agree... I can see wins over the Jets, Jags, Raiders, Arizona, Cincinnati, 49ers & Buffalo to start the season. Imagine if we beat the Titans in week 2 too... :fans:

Weeks 5-9 could be our true test. Ifwe could pull a 3-2 or 4-1 during that stretch, we will for sure be in the playoffs. Not to say wks 11-17 isn't hard, because it definitely is, but the 4 out of 5 road games should scare any normal Texans fan.

Yep.

This year's schedule is the total opposite of last years, in terms of starting off. It's eerie how inverse this schedule is compared to last's year.

We had to face three playoff team on the road in the first 4 games, with the 2nd week being the one at home against a non-playoff team originally in the Ravens.

This year we play 3 non-playoff teams at home in the first 4 games, with the 2nd week being away against a playoff team at the Titans.

Time to start praying to the weather god's for no hurricanes this year.

Seriously. That would be horrible considering the majority of our games during hurricane season are at home. But, it would be even worst if the people in Houston had to go through that type of stuff again.

Damn! Am I the only one who does NOT like this schedule? All home games are NOON games except for MNF, and I was hoping we would play ANYONE other than Tenn on Monday night!! They get enough National exp, I don't like sharing with them!! Really pisses me off since Bud will make sure they wear the old Oiler uni's for that game. FOUR division games in a row??! Sorry guys, but, that SUCKS! JMO! Three home games by Oct 4th! Get ready for some HOT tailgating!! BORING December with three away games! One of our worst schedules we've ever had!

Too many noon games (again!). No respect, but I guess it's understandable given the circumstances.

I hate the east coast bs in terms of primetime games, but screw 'em. Fugettaboutit.

This is possibly our easiest schedule ever. Our division opponents are weakened, and everything should be in our favor.

It's a bit frustrating that we don't get much if any respect, but it just makes it all the more sweeter when we show up and hit the more heralded teams in the mouth.

Something that really irks me is how Dallas gets 6 prime time games this year. I can't stand the Cowboys or Cowboy fans. They're almost as bad as Jazz fans :gun:

Remember that the flex scheduling can put us in an afternoon game (from a noon game) if the football schedulers deem us a good show. That wouldn't happen until well into the season AND after we start showing something other than being a 500 ball club.

I'm very excited. My wife and I are doing the entire weekend Oct 25th when the Niners are here. We'll come to town Friday night, enjoy my hometown Saturday, see the game, and not go home until Monday.

I just can't wait. :texflag:

We should get off to a good start this year. I'm looking forward to the games against the Titans & Colts; especially on the road :wild:

I knew the Hoboys would get 3 NBC games. I am praying that they completely utterly suck this year...

We're already getting some props by the Jet's fans over on their forum.. well at least from the majority of them. Didn't knew Jets fans were so humble... sorta.

CANT WAIT FOR MONDAY NIGHT....ANYONE WHO CANT MAKE IT I"LL BUY TIX

I GOTTA GET PLANE TICKETS AND HOTEL :) Coming from NY

When do they go on sale?

What's this!? Love from ESPN's Jaws?!?!

"And intriging matchup is Tenn at Houston. We were down there last year and the fans in Houston really get into their football. And they have a great trio in Andre Johnson, Steve Slaton, and Matt Schaub. Their offense could really give Tennessee's defense some trouble."

It didn't last season in the second game of the season but we'll see what happens next season.

Best schedule the Texans have had in their existence. Now we need to draft a stud defender in two of the first three rounds and we'll be in business.

Not surprised that he did not mention Mario, I remember last season he said something along the lines of Mario being overrated...

Already confirmed getting mon and tues off for the mnf game, can't wait. Gotta take my supervisor to a game prior though, he's never been to reliant

I believe it is a perfect scedule for them. Agreed. the back to back road games then....get the bye then take car of business the next two games...

If the offensive line comes together, continues to improve....Schaub & Slaton stays healthy..... o-line stays healthy.....

Agreed. we just got a kiss from Rodger. Nobody's fault but their own if they do not take advantage of it.

We'll see. So we're twelve and two ...how else would you rather end the season than a game against a team you've already beaten four consecutive times...and arguably the best team in the NFL over the last ten years with home feild advatage thourgh out the play offs on the line ? But as you posted they must first learn not to play down to the competion on the road... pull a rabbit out of the hat after their bye week. We'll see.

You can bet money they won't get another sechedule like this one in 2010.

I am not sure they can wear those Unis without the Texans approval because it is not their traditional road Uniforms. Just like when Nolan and Del Rio wanted to wear suits and The NFL said yes but only for two games. They wore them for home games and not road. Besides, I have never seen a team wear a throw back uniform against a team who does not have one.

So I doubt it will happen.

There is no Sunday night game scheduled for week 17. Right now it is listed as TBD. If you look over the games for that week I could see the Texans-Patriots getting moved to SNF. It would be the last game of the 2009 regular season and every TV would be tuned in to see the Texans clinch the division title. (ok, so it might be a bit premature, but of all the matchups I see this one having possible playoff implications.) At first glance there doesn't seem to be any team with 6 primetime games. I believe one team can have 6 and the rest can have no more than 5.
