Texans random thought of the day

Aaron Wilson titled this video Houston Texans OTA 2.0: Another light day for C.J. Stroud,
Watch the entire video to see what Wilson considers a "light day" for Stroud.

***************

One, it looked like a light day for everyone from that video.

Two, i should give you neg rep for encouraging us to watch an entire video of nothing.
And why all the secrecy?
Because life is not worth living without conspiracy theories.
If the offensive coordinator in Atlanta could not help Pitts, why would Caley?
The Falcons OC (Zac Robinson) and Nick Caley were both on the Rams staff in 2023.
So CJ can drill 3 pointers, but can't play toss at OTAs?

No one was forced to watch the video. And whether it was a light day for anyone else is beside the point in that the focus of the post was on Stroud who just stood around essentially doing nothing, let alone throwing spit wads. All the other QBs were generously throwing. The post was meant to show consistency with and to re-enforce the fact that his arm is less than fully functional.

I think Lucky’s tongue was firmly in his cheek.

I just wish the teams in this town would respect their fans more - the people that make it possible for them to reap a top 1% income. Quit the games, the secrecy, and the BS and level with the fans.

Tomlinson is a LG and has been a LG starting in the NFL for awhile now. Him and Cam are fairly set in stone as to where they’ll play. Now is the time to see if Howard can play RG. If the team doesn’t feel good about it he’ll compete at LG/RT where he’s played previously. But if he can, he’ll be one of the best 5 OL.

I trust CND way more than Aaron Wilson, but so take this for what its worth…AW said yesterday that any rumor of a substantial shoulder injury is completely false, and he has it on good authority from multiple sources that its just some mild soreness…and he may throw passes this week.

So, it is now official. CJ Stroud has a slightly injured shoulder. That's why he hasn't been throwing. I just heard it on 610, I didn't hear what type injury or how bad. Which I assume is not too bad seeing he has handed off while it's not a throwing, it jars the shoulder some.

Not according to Aaron Wilson. I guess it just depends on who you trust more as the expert media medical professionals. The Chronicle or the radio?

For me, I am going to stick with the surgeon who has seen one or two more of these than either of the other two sources.

AW is reporting exactly what he was told by the Texans brass. He’s a pretty darn good journalist/beat writer.

And why all the secrecy? Unless it’s worse than what they are letting on.

The regular season isn’t for months.
In the back of Texans fans' minds we all know. If this wasn't an issue, they would have just come out and said that CJ is sitting out because he's healing up. I think they know it's worse and they're hoping that rest will allow it to heal so they don't have to go public with it. BTW I'm an Astros fan, as well as a Texans fan, so I will always view injury updates in this manner.

I’m an Astros fan too.

“Kyle Tucker down with a deep bone bruise…”

My suspicion is CJ probably hurt whatever it is playing basketball. That’s just a guess.

No conclusions can be made re. his shoulder by him handing off the ball.

Why did they make him the highest paid nickel in NFL history again?.. I had those questions when I thought he has completely healthy.
For such a big number, you would have expected consistency.............not just 1 good year.. You only have to go back to 2023 when Pitre experienced a roller coaster of a season, making just 84 tackles (63 fewer than his rookie campaign) with no interceptions and getting burned big time several times in coverage. Furthermore, he allowed three touchdowns and a 127.9 passer rating as the nearest defender in coverage in 2023, per Next Gen Stats.

Hopefully he comes back and surprises us.

He played a different role in 2023 than 2024. He’s at his best playing near the LOS creating chaos as a nickel LB type like they have him playing now.

Thoughts?

Lists 12 starters, so I must of missed the NFL going to Canadian rules.
That makes more sense. Thank you.
CJ cannot tell a lie. He also admitted that George Washington chopped down that cherry tree.

I understand, but the sample size was in one shortened season. Now that Pitre has sustained a pectoral rupture which was caused by an arm tackle [which he engaged in commonly over his career], he will need to adhere to better technique if he expects to stay healthy. Whether he will measure up to his contract now depends on several factors................something that he will have to prove, not by his past, but by his future play.

So let me understand...........he admittedly had shoulder issues since the Jets game, with no mention of his injury during the Ravens game.............his game took a nosedive during this period (with essentially with the same OL).................and not once did Stroud's shoulder end up on the Injury Report, let alone to any extent in media publications..............and now his shoulder issue pops up and Demeco and the Texans are strongly pushing back that there is no there there. I've written extensively on my well-founded impressions regarding Stroud's shoulder history, and find it virtually impossible to think that all of a sudden, now the Texans are being honest regarding his issue.

Is concealing injuries just an NFL way of life? I remember Brady's ex-wife Giselle Buchan admitting that Tom had many concussions that never showed up on an injury report. Now, the Texans have a good chunk of those Patriots coaches and front office people running the ship in Houston. Looks like the Texans are running the same 3 monkey system on Kirby.

So you’re trying to say he’s lying?

I think it is believable that he injured it in the Jets game, played through injury, and has been letting it heal.

I think it is also believable that there is a something more to the story that is purposely being left out like a re-aggravation something.

Whether that is an outside sports injury, unreported car accident, or offseason surgery that I do not know. But it is definitely possible for all the above to be true and one to be almost a lie but technically not.

I'm concerned for the possible CJ injury and what it means for the season, but I'm not nearly as outraged, or upset at all, they they're trying to keep a lid on any details leaking out. There's really nothing I can do with the information, my knowing the details isn't going to improve CJ's recovery, and it's not going to impact my fan experience. If they see some benefit in keeping it hush-hush, fine. As long as they're not breaking league rules or are just in the gray area and aren't going to lose draft picks over it, I'm fine with what they're doing.

I thought you posted recently [yesterday? ] that CJ had A-C in Jets game and then landed on right shoulder vs Ravens. I thought he was on injury report but continued to play?

A Stroud shoulder impacting season would impact 2026 mock drafts...

You are entirely ignoring the Ravens game shoulder injury where his clavicle was entirely displaced secondary to a severe A-C separation. That is enough to explain his delay in throwing.

Stroud was never on the Injury Report last season for a shoulder issue. He was on the Report in week 2 of 2023. The Texans would not reveal the nature of the injury despite being Questionable for the game. Nick Shook of NFL.,com wrote today that Stroud did not have a documented history of shoulder issues. That is blatantly false. At Ohio State, he missed time with was originally reported as an A-C shoulder separation, and then later Stroud added that it also included a "stressed rotator cuff. Unfortunately, today's reporting is pretty poor.

I'm saying that he is towing the company line...........not presenting the facts as they stand.
Highly doubt that. We as fans really needs to stop assuming especially when the man just told us he got injured against the Jets. In which he took a massive beating. So how is that towing the company line? He was sacked 8 times and hit at least 15.

How many months did it take for that to be revealed? How many months will it take until the Ravens game injury is revealed?
