Yep. No one is trading for Carr knowing the Raiders are going to cut himOnce his extension kicks in, he has a cap hit of $35M in 2023, then $44M for 24 and $43M for 25.

AFC Notes: Colts, Jaguars, Texans
Colts The Athletic's Zak Keefer writes Colts GM Chris Ballard will likely narrow his list of coaching candidates to three to six finalists for second interviews. At that point, owner Jim Irsay will get involved.nfltraderumors.co
Carr to Texans?
Without knowing who the HC will be? What kind of defense they will run?Battle red blog is reporting Texans could sign Bills linebacker Tremaine Edmunds.
Perhaps they already know who their HC is...Without knowing who the HC will be? What kind of defense they will run?

He's a LB that will excel in any schemeWithout knowing who the HC will be? What kind of defense they will run?
OK, I'll buy that. But will that coach want to invest that much in an off ball LB? Rumors about FA signings just don't make sense this early, especially before a HC has been hired. And until the guy's signature is on the contract, he hasn't been hired. He's a LB that will excel in any scheme
Agreed, and I think the possibility is slim, but Edmunds is a linebacker I've coveted to replace Kirksey if they go the FA route. Preferably they will draft a rookie to fill the billOK, I'll buy that. But will that coach want to invest that much in an off ball LB? What is Tremaine Edmunds’ future in Buffalo? It’s trickier than you think.
The linebacker is in the final year of his deal. Would the cost to keep him around fit the Bills' plans?theathletic.com
I just read the entire article without paying anythingMay be good info but is behind the paywall

That teams fan's message board?Random thought. Besides sideline reporters. Is there anything worst in sports than sports talk radio when you have a bad NFL team?
Getting ready for the drive home. I check into 610 to get the latest on the HC search. The hosts are talking about bananas their texture, their size and why one of the hosts hates bananans because of a bad experience with a banana when he was eight years old. Switch over to 790 and they are talking about one of the host's disdain for cartoons.

No just some are free and some are not. It's a pretty long article, but here is the important paragraph regarding a future Edmunds contract:
"Based on that hallmark, two play-making inside linebackers from Edmunds’ draft class signed boffo five-year extensions in 2021: The Indianapolis Colts extended three-time All-Pro Shaquille Leonard at an average of $19.7 million with $52.5 million in guarantees; the San Francisco 49ers kept Fred Warner, an All-Pro two seasons ago, at an average of $19 million with $45 million in guarantees."
So the team that signs Edmunds is looking at a $20 million/AAV deal. Which may not be a bad deal as the cap rises.

The NFL informed teams today that the 2023 salary cap will be a record $224.8 million per club, sources tell me and @RapSheet.
That’s up from $208.2 million in 2022, $182.5M in 2021 (COVID adjustment), 198.2M in 2020 and $188.2M in 2019.

Put it this way, I don't think there is much he doesn't know about defense.Completely random thought but it’s really nice to see JJ Watt being a total Texans fanboy on his social media straight away after announcing his retirement from the Cardinals. I was a bit worried that the way things played out the last couple of years he was here that the relationship might have soured. Would love to see him work his way up the coaching ranks under DeMeco, Ryans has worked his way to HC in just 6 years I believe, would be great to have JJ on the staff.
I think it's more a move to get players they want a longer look at into OTA's/campThanks JB
Sounds like a salary cap move.

Fred Warner will never be a free agentOnly 4 more years and Fred Warner is a free agent…..
Put it this way, I don't think there is much he doesn't know about defense.
He would have a wealth of knowledge to impart to Dlinemen. Start as DLine assistant coach?
Thanks JB
Sounds like a salary cap move.

I think that Cooks needs to go for what he did last year. But, Coach Ryans may be the guy that can reach out and turn the guy around. His contract is untradeable unless the Texans pay a big chunk of the guaranteed $$$. Cooks would be a nice target if he bought in. Still would rather have a draft pick. We'll see.610 and Pancakes talking about Cooks this morning.
I feel like Cooks will be on the 2023 roster. I'd prefer they trade him because I don't want players who don't want to be here, but his value as a player is more than they'd get in a trade.
No energy vampires at NRG.I have a feeling that DeMeco isn't going to tolerate "attitudes".
Futures contracts are simply done to fill the 90 man roster and keep other teams from plucking players from your team during the offseason.
A "standard" contract cannot be offered until the start of the new league year (March 15th).Can you not do that with a standard contract?
A "standard" contract cannot be offered until the start of the new league year (March 15th).
Since we're turning over a new leaf can we get all new people on 610 to go along with it???
I'm sooo over having to listen to Hughley and Stoerner and Laundry and Lopez and the like.
It sure makes it difficult to enjoy the H-O-P-I-U-M and be a Texans fan having to listen to these same tired morons, still. If we fixed the HC position, let's fix 610 by sending Hughley back to Kansas City and Stoerner back to Arkansas and Lopez to pasture and Laundry to the asylum. How about we bring in some old Texans players to talk about the team guided by nonopinionating cohosts.
John and Lance are on 97.5, 7-10AMLiked LZ. But now I'm not sure when he's on because at one point his time slot changed, and it didn't work with my schedule. Will need to check on that.

I agree with @CloakNNNdagger. Other than the exceptions of the drive in morning shows, Houston sports radio can be unbearable. Sirus XM radio, for me.
I like N.D. Kalu.
I dont see how a fool like Larry in Stafford achieved talk show relevance in Houston. Anytime that fool comes on the air I start listening to music and many times never make it back to listening to sports talk that day.
