Texans Playoff Picture

Alex Smith has a lacerated spleen and will not play Sunday against the Chargers. Chase Daniel will start in his place.

Well it's not like Alex Smith was lighting it up this year. Chase Daniel has a pretty good pedigree; sitting behind Drew Brees, learning from Sean Peyton for four years, then sitting on the bench learning from Andy Reid for a year & a half...

Might be a heck of a game to watch.

You're either very optimistic or on some great meds.

The odds are against us.

Smith was doing what he does very well. Hand the ball to Jamal Charles and don't turn it over -- 3 INTs & 1 lost fumble after first game, where he had 3 INTs.

Their biggest failing is 45 sacks given, 3rd in NFL, which is on QB & line & poor WRs.

Chase Daniel and Connor Shaw have 1 career start combined. :bravo:

Guys. Sometimes you have to laugh. Or else you'll cry.

The funny part is Chiefs fans actually think they have a better shot now.

I wouldn't doubt it. Chase can play and is going to be looking at this like his shot to become a starter if he gets in the playoffs.

Also, let's not forget that he's playing the Chargers. They've had a good season but Rivers is always down to throw a 4th quarter interception or not show up to the big game.

The Cleveland game is the game that I think ends up telling us that we're staying home. But heck, stranger things have happened.

That doesn't even do it.

I don't think it's possible for us to play anyone other than the 3rd seed and that's Steelers, Bengals, or Broncos.

You're right, it's not possible for us to play anyone other than the 3 seed. However, there is a scenario where the Colts end up with the 3 seed if they win and the Pittsburgh/Cincinnati game ends in a tie.

Ravens LT Eugene Monroe listed as doubtful for Sunday. Ravens will most likely be without both starting tackles.

In the Playoff Machine on ESPN, even if they end in a tie, Pittsburgh ends up as the #3 seed, not the Colts.

No, if the colts win and Pitt/Cinc ends in a tie, Colts would get the 3 seed

Colts would end with 11 wins, Pitt and Cincy with 10

Hmm. That's weird. I thought I tried that and ended up with Pittsburgh in the 3 seed. I must have accidentally clicked on the Colts losing to Tennessee somehow.

Thanks for the correction! :wadepalm:

so we need case keenum, chase daniel and connor friggin shaw to go 3-0 for us to get in.
texans playing jaguars, ok i see a win.
chase daniel handing off to charles in kc. 35% chance maybe.
connor shaw going into a pissed off baltimore. not happening. why the f is hoyer not playing?

we needed help and instead were getting f'd up the a.:hobie:

Time to consult the Magic 8-ball

Remember any stories where you said people would suck?
I would not be mocking players if they sucked but I remember saying Owen Daniels would not be the way to go. You should have asked if I remembered players I said would be good and they sucked in NFL. The MB would blow up from the infinite number of those.

Not only are we down to our fourth quarterback, we have to rely on a third-stringer and a backup too.

Fantastic. Just fantastic.

I guess someone thinks the Texans don't quite understand how important the QB position really is & He's just trying to make a point.

Crazier things have happened. I liked what I saw in Shaw in the preseason and Chase Daniel had some moments in New Orleans. I wouldn't be stunned if Shaw ends up being better than both Hoyer and Johnny 8Ball when it's all said and done.

What I remember best about Jamaal Charles was mocking him and getting clobbered for saying he would be a great NFL back.

Well now is your time for retribution...

If Charles can drag Chase & the Chiefs to victory, you were right.

With his bum throwing shoulder and biceps, he is listed as "questionable" solely for the purpose of having the Ravens being left in the dark as to who to prepare for...........With this sly tactic, I"m sure the stupid Ravens are being thoroughly fooled that he will actually be the one they will be facing Sunday.:kitten:

Things may be looking up a little on the Chiefs' front.

The Chargers are expected to put Scifres, their long-time punter, on injured reserve, Alex Marvez of FoxSports.com reported Friday evening.

Regarded as one of the game’s top punters, Scifres suffered a broken clavicle in the Chargers’ December 7 loss to New England. Mat McBriar has filled in for Scifres for San Diego (9-6), which can clinch a wild-card spot with a victory Sunday at Kansas City.

According to Marvez, the Chargers are in need of center depth, and the club doesn’t intend to place tailback Ryan Mathews (ankle) or wideout Keenan Allen (ankle/shoulder) on injured reserve. Mathews has been ruled out for Sunday’s game, while Allen is doubtful. The Chargers’ current starting center, Chris Watt, is questionable with an ankle injury.
