Texans Playoff Picture

If we win out & the Colts lose to us & the Titans, we win the division.

Not likely to happen, but if they lose to us & the Titans, our division record is better with only one loss.

I don't think I said anything that contradicts your statement. Possible, but extremely unlikely for the Colts to lose their 3 remaining games.

They can beat the Cowboys & finish 10-6 & we'd win the division. If they lose just two games, two specific games, the two remaining division games, we win the tie breaker.

If they lose all three, we'll win as well, just like you say. Our 10-6 against their 9-7

My bad, you're right, we can still win it if we both go 10-6, and they only beat the Cowboys. Still, extremely unlikely.

Also, if we win out and the Colts lose to the Cowboys but beat the Titans, then the Colts win the division and we end up in the wildcard race.

Hopefully 10-6 is enough to win that final wild-card spot in the AFC if we win out. We'd have earned it beating the Colts on the road for the first time in franchise history as well as defeating a solid Ravens team.

The Colts may lose against the Texans and Cowboys the next two games, but I doubt the Colts will lose the final game against the Titans, a team that has already mailed it in for the season. The Titans are horrendous and are looking ahead to drafting Marcus Mariota. They'll finish 2-14 this season. Also Titans nose tackle Sammie Hill is being accused of sexual assault. That's a team falling apart on and off the field.

Winning a game is the last thing on the Titans' mind right now...

True but if the Texans couldn't beat a 1-14 Dan Orlovsky lead Colts team back then in Indy, a team with Luck and Texan secondary killer, T.Y. Hilton today kills any and all hope...

We beat them just fine. You must have missed the joke that was the final Colts drive. Arguably the worst-officiated football game I've watched in my life.

The Colts are an entirely beatable team. Just don't spot them 10 points like we did last time.

I really put that blame on Kubiak/Yates. I don't think he threw a pass over 10 yards the whole game.

I consider that loss to Dan O as one of the most embarassing in the Texans history. In a year when the Texans were playoff bound. The score should have not been close in the 4th quarter. That's the way it goes.

I noticed this in a Tweet and thought I'd share. Opponents #1 WR vs our defense

The Colts are 4-4 against teams with winning records. And one of those wins was against the free-falling Browns last week on a last second TD.

They have 5 wins against team with 2-3 wins. They are feasting on bottom dwellers.

If the Texans lose on Sunday, it won't be because the Colts are awesome. It will be Fitz or coverage brain farts by the defense.

The Texans are +12 in turnover differential. 2nd best in the NFL only behind the Packers (+16), who rarely turn the ball over. The Colts are -4 and 22nd ranked. Let's win the turnover battle and play smart football. That will give us a chance. We can't dig a 24-0 hole like the last game. We also forced a fumble returned for a Touchdown against Andrew Luck in the last game but we were down so much it only gave us a small glimmer of hope. The Colts do turn the ball over. Quite often in fact. We have to take advantage of that.

If we can contain Hilton i think we win the game. We never have been able to though.
First play of the game I'd have J.J. Watt out there covering Hilton just to knock him on his ass within the first five yards. Send a statement that he isn't going to beat us. After the game ends I want to see Hilton's jersey and pants with a lot of green on it, if not blood. It has to be that physical of a game.

OK. So I was playing around with the Playoff Machine and basically just had pretty much everything fall our way.

I ended up with this:

1. Patriots (12-4)
2. Broncos (12-4)
3. Texans (10-6)
4. Bengals (9-6-1)
5. Chiefs (9-7)
6. Colts (9-7)

In that reality, the Colts come to play us at NRG for the Wildcard round.

:swatter:

The Texans are 2-5 versus teams with winning records. And one of those wins was against the free-falling Browns. I guess I'm missing your point.

So if we win next week & the week after, we'll be 4-5 against teams with winning records & the Colts would be 4-6 if they lose the next two weeks... interesting.

Luck has 31 wins so far in his 3-year career. 14 have come against the AFC South. The Titans and Jaguars have 23 total wins between them in the last 3 years. The Colts are barely above .500 against the rest of the league.

He puts up spectacular numbers, but they have been 20th in rushing and defense since he got there. They are not a balanced team. They have been exposed quite often this season. Including by the Texans for 3/4 of a game.

The Colts are a better team than the Texans. The reality is that the Texans are a mediocre team trying to overcome themselves and beat a good Colts team. Reading this message board, one would think that Indy was on par with Denver and New England. When in reality, they are just lucky to play in the craptastic AFC South and get an automatic 4-6 wins every year.

That's what a great QB can do for a team.

Does anyone make excuses for Brady because he plays with three other perpetually crappy teams in his division?

Had to see what his record was against other teams in the NFL. Even if somebody tries to bring up his weak division, he has an impressive winning percentage during the regular season through out his career. He is also undefeated against 7 teams.

Well the Colts are a better team than the Texans right now. And they are a good team, in the context that they are better than .500 but not a great team, a serious contender. What they are really good at for the most part covers what they are really bad at. But at some point, it gets exposed. They are like the Dallas Mavericks of the NFL. Good enough to fool people into thinking they are better than they are, but in the end are not.

No they have a better QB not team. their team other than Hilton is rich, creamy s**t.

Same reason Aaron will win the MVP. Even though he has the same stats that Manning, Brees, Brady, etc.... throw up every damn year.

I realize it is early in his career, but Luck has already been anointed as the next Great One, but he is 17-12 when not playing the AFC South. I would expect 17-13 once the season is done after playing the Cowboys.

I think Luck is great in the fact that he can bring his team back when it counts, but the thing that bothers me about him is that sometimes he creates those mistakes that puts the team in a hole to begin with.

He is nowhere near as good as he will end up being.

The throws this guy makes with pressure in his face is borderline unfair.

Their overall record, record against teams over .500 and head to head games indicate that indeed the Colts are a better team than the Texans.

And outside of Foster and Watt, what exactly do the Texans have that can't be duplicated by the majority of teams in the NFL? Lots of rich and creamy on this team too.

Outside of the Cleveland game, what games this year has he brought his team back when it counts? Three blowout losses to strong teams, and a 4th quarter INT that allows Philly to come back and beat them. They either took early leads and held on (BAL, HOU) or had blowout wins.

I was actually talking about past games not including this season. Haven't been able to see many Colts games this year because I really don't like them. lol

The Kansas City game came to mind, but if Jamaal Charles wouldn't have gotten hurt, I see Kansas winning that game.

This is a comparison between the Colts and Texans what do other teams have to do with it? if you compare units between the Texans and Colts the Texans have better units every where except at QB.

yep. No QB is perfect. They will all eventually make mistakes.

However, part of what makes the great ones great is the ability to overcome their own mistakes and win games.

In less than three full seasons, Luck already has 9 fourth quarter comebacks and 12 game-winning drives.

Here is a list of them

As far as opponents, you can only play your schedule. I do not see any of that as a legit criticism to diminish analysis of a QB. Bad teams are capable of beating good teams on any given Sunday. We see it every year.

Our chances for a, divison title lie in the hands of Tennessee titans beating indy on the roadd........yeah

Let's be honest. 2012 made that stat, for whatever its worth. Matt Ryan has been impressive in that stat for years....not sure I would label him "great".

Yes... I'm going to be that guy. Playoffs still not out of the picture.

Obviously, we MUST win the next two games. Tall order with whoever we throw out there at QB, but crazier things have happened in this league.

What needs to happen.

Week 16:
Steelers over KC in Pit
49ers over Chargers in SF

Week 17:
Browns over Ravens in Bal
Patriots over Bills in NE

49ers over Chargers would be a minor upset, but a very winnable game for SF. Browns over Ravens in Baltimore will be extremely tough, especially if Manziel plays as bad as he did today. But the Jags almost pulled off the upset over Baltimore, so who knows?

That is probably the easiest path to the 6th seed. However, in spite of the Texans sending season ticket holders an email that they don't need to pay for playoff tickets the Texans could make the 5th seed and host the AFC Championship game (will people who listened to them lose their PSLs????)

Week 16: Texans beat Ravens, Chiefs beat Steelers, Panthers beat Browns, Vikings beat Dolphins, 49ers beat Chargers, and Raiders beat Bills. 9-6: Steelers, Ravens, Chiefs. 8-7: Texans, Bills, Chargers. Out at 7-8: Dolphins, Browns.

Week 17: Texans beat Jags, Browns beat Ravens, Bengals beat Steelers, Chargers beat Chiefs, and just in case the Bills did not lose to the Raiders - Pats beat Bills. 9-7: Texans, Steelers, Ravens, Chiefs, Chargers, maybe Bills. It will come to the conference record tiebreaker: Texans have the best conference record of any of these teams (thanks Titans and Jags!) and get the 5th seed. Then simply win 2 playoff games on the road while the 6th seed does the same - and BAM! AFC Championship at home!

I have to appreciate and commend not only the amount of kool aid flowing through your veins but also how far seeing it is.

Kudos, my friend, kudos.

Ha ha...I admire your imagination....there's about a billionth of a chance that this happens....

I don't see why the individual game results in that scenario are *that* far fetched.

Will it happen? Probably not. And clearly the AFC Championship won't be 5th v 6th seed. But looking at a 5th seed scenario by looking at each game, and it's not thaaaaat far out there for us to snag the 5th seed.

I don't think we'll make the playoffs at all, simply because we blew games against Indianapolis, Dallas, Pittsburgh, and Cincinnati.
