Texans Next Head Coach

I was talking to my older brother who lives in Houston and he listens to Houston Sports radio 20 hours a day as he is blind and has nothing else to do #####but anyway he told me something I thought was very interesting _______Jimmy Johnson _______was in town having a sit down and meal with the Texans owner last week.noticed how he Johnson was talking about how he liked what he saw with the Plow Boy's and what the Big Tuna was doing there HMMMMMM may be a connection . My older brother seems to think so and he knows his sports in and outs quite well. could be that McNair is :fishing:

I'm not sure we would be so fortunate. Plus if you are jimmy johnson do you take us on? I mean I know we sorta resemble the cowboys when he took over but there is no herschel walker here to turn the franchise around.

Is Jimmy Johnson really the answer? yah he coached the "legendary" Cowboy team.. but he did it with the help of the biggest trade in NFL history. All those draft picks made quite a difference.. how much of that was Johnson and how much was circumstance?

Jimmy Johnson no longer has the patience to build a team like he did the Cowboys. Just ask the Miami Dolphins.

Put that rumor to bed.

1. Jimmy Johnson says he's not interested in coaching anymore. It's entirely possible that this is 100% the truth and I have no doubt that it was the truth when he first said it shortly after he left the Dolphins. Dick Vermiel meant it when he said it too. One thing I am sure of and that is that football coaches don't ever completely seem to get it out of their system and being a former coach can get boring. Tuna didn't stay quit, Vermiel didn't stay quit. Ditka didn't stay quit. Madden did of course and he's the best example of a guy who really meant it. All I'm saying is that if you're searching for a coach in 2005 and you don't at least ask Jimmy Johnson if he'd like to come to town, eat some good food, and talk about it then you're doing yourself and your team a disservice.

2. The big trade did of course help. No question there. You can't just point a bunch of players at the field and say "Go to it!" in the NFL, no matter how talented they are. Something of an example can be provided in the Saints trading their entire draft for Ricky Williams. Did the Redskins turn all those picks into a dynasty?

Granted they didn't take Mike Ditka as badly as Jimmy and Jerry took the Vikings but it shows that it's not just how many picks you get in the draft that matters. It's also what you do with them.

Jimmy Johnson can coach. No doubt about it.

That trade was one of 51 draft day trades JJ made. He did a lot more than get lucky with one trade to assemble that team.

With any luck, McNair fires Casserly, then Casserly gets hired by some unsuspecting owner. Then (pick a name) comes in as Texans GM and convinces Casserly to trade us 7 draft picks for a couple of throw away players and we are on our way to recovery.

I love that idea, go ahead and make it happen. It would be nice to be on the good side of a Casserly draft pick trade.

I probably would not want Jimmy as a HC, but as a personell guy who is doing the drafting and bringing players in to fit the system. You really cant argue with his track record, but that was a different NFL then.

I mentioned the JJ deal a month ago when I saw him in the dome with McNair comforting Katrina evacuees.

I think this situation would be exactly what JJ is looking for as a reason to coach again. He has a nucleus of young talent and if the team stays on this pace, he would have the first pick in the draft to parlay into more picks to help the team.

Plus he would be working for McNair which would be light years from the other JJ.

How would "Jimma" and Cassely co-exist though????????????????????????????

Keep in mind that Jimmy is from Port Arthur so it makes a lot of sense why he would be in town during all of this hurricane mess.

What about Tom Moore, the OC for the Colts. Not only is he brilliant with offenses and OL, but we could steal him from the colts!!
